For an author, Melissa Cole dont write so good.

OrchidInTheSun · 31/12/2018 11:07

Ooh that Melissa is a charmer. She knows which side her bread's buttered on - the beardy wokebro side!

nauticant · 31/12/2018 11:11

If you look at Melissa Cole's tweets on this, she appears to be gathering information from one side only to put together a justification for the T-shirt wearer being barred.

This is why I now shy away from the parts of the media that take pride in being progressive.

Popchyk · 31/12/2018 11:12

That is strange.

The first tweet says "if they were distributing leaflets like this"...

And then Melissa Cole posts the screenshot of the tweet of Cole asking the brewery to DM Cole. And the brewery saying yes.

And then another tweet from Cole saying "I've seen the evidence". But no screenshot of the actual evidence.

We're supposed to just take Cole's word for it.

ADastardlyThing · 31/12/2018 11:12

"You know it’s the ideology behind the slogan, not the slogan itself, that it is used by groups of people who want to identify themselves with an ideology that excludes a vulnerable group in society. Let’s not act the cunt here"

I get what you mean Pinky. the t shirt exists is because of the ideology that a man can become a woman, and it is women, the vulnerable group, who are going to be excluded when there are no single sex spaces anymore. And I get that the 'cunty' remark is a reminder of TGLWGH but I haven't seen any below the belt posts myself. but otherwise I agree Smile

The person whose photo putting the FP4W leaflets in the bin in September (retweeted by Melissa Cole) has also made allegations about previous incidents involving the woman banned yesterday.

Who knew buying IPA (it's bound to be IPA, that's about all "craft beer" consists of these days) in a pub was such an ideological minefield? Much simpler to drink at home, I think.

R0wantrees · 31/12/2018 11:28

It would be interesting to know the pub's policy as to which 'dangerous ideologies' can not be held/expressed (?) by patrons.

Is there a list, a test at the door?
(Its quite cold in Macclesfield, I wonder if the test can be taken online before going in) Hmm

Popchyk · 31/12/2018 11:35

It seems to embody all of 2018, this, doesn't it?

Some dimbos proclaiming that biology is a "dangerous ideology".

And fully expecting to be lauded for it.

R0wantrees · 31/12/2018 11:43

Melissa Cole gives talks about need for inclusion etc in the craft beer industry.

There's something really strange about all this. The woman wearing the t-shirt had apparently been served food and three pints, and was playing a board game when she was asked to leave. If the pub management didn't want her custom, why didn't they refuse to serve her when she first went in?

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 31/12/2018 11:55

I know the pub and I know the woman in question.

She is a radfem zealot who does not mince her words and speaks the truth wherever she goes. She is a true champion of women's rights and I'm surprised she's not as well known as some of our more prominent figures. She surely deserves to be.

That bright, brilliant, argumentative and assertive lesbian woman is not transphobic. She simply refuses to lie through her teeth and puts women first in everything she does.

That little pub is indeed infested with woke dudebros, I ran into one there when The Woman In Question and I were out, and although they do good beer, I will not be supporting them with my money anymore. They've lost at least 2 customers here due to their misogyny.

starcrossedseahorse · 31/12/2018 11:56

Popchyck dimbos is such the right word for these people.

OrchidInTheSun · 31/12/2018 11:57

I suspect someone spotted her T-shirt and shouted TERF TERF TERF at the bar staff so they had to ask her to leave in case there was a bout of narcissistic rage

R0wantrees · 31/12/2018 12:00

Maybe LAWS, WPUK, Standing For Women or We Need to Talk will run a meeting in Macclesfield in the new year?

Badstyley · 31/12/2018 12:15

I wear my ‘adult human female’ hoody all the time, never been kicked out of a pub yet, although I’ve been avoiding the most likely place I’d be ejected from. Maybe I should nip in for a pint, with voice recorder at the ready?

"howls it's in the market place near the town hall , easy to spot. Chairs outside, lots of men with beards and checked shirts on."

Are you sure they're men?

drinkswineoutofamug · 31/12/2018 12:30

@Childrenofthestones they look like men ..... real beards not the fantastic knitted version that manfriday wore. As it's near me, I may bob in wearing my tshirt sometime this week.

Datun · 31/12/2018 13:03

Whichever way you cut this up, describing the dictionary definition of women as a dangerous ideology is indeed a daily mail wet dream, Melissa Cole.

It's just about the most unadulterated misogyny I can think of.

So let's have it. Explain.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 31/12/2018 13:03

Previous transphobia from the lesbians could have involved saying no to some fun penis based sex?

I think about all the times I've been hararssed / assaulted in pubs and no-one has ever been chucked out...

i think of the handful of times random men did / said stuff to women, who loudly objected and the women ended up on the pavement...

Always goes one way doesn't it.

MissingLesbianSpaces · 31/12/2018 13:07

Perhaps they would prefer women to wear shirts that say "I am a front hole" ????

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 31/12/2018 13:08

Her ''previous transphobia'' was merely talking about the issue.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 31/12/2018 13:25

Remember those peanut / pork scratching things they had in pubs where as you sold them a topless woman was revealed?

Don't know why I suddently though of them > just mulling all the things in pubs over the years I have not felt comfy about.

I expect they will bring them back soon in a retro "ironic" way.
