It's a funny old world

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/01/2019 23:06

It’s so very blatant. No engaging with the opinion, no countering it, no discussion. Straight to “I will have you fired for speaking” they literally will not allow women to speak.

FloralBunting · 01/01/2019 23:10

Woman-led was always going to be an... elastic definition for a company so happy to endorse misogyny, really. I am about as surprised as I was when I got cheap smellies for Christmas from the in-laws...

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 01/01/2019 23:14

I’m going to Macclesfield next week and I do love a good beer. What a shame I only have one t-shirt to wear.

That does go a long way to explaining their stance.

I don't live anywhere near Macclesfield, but would love to pop along in my FPFW t-shirt.

Bowlofbabelfish · 02/01/2019 02:59

Identifies as intersex? The intersex conditions are objective, diagnoseable medical conditions. You cannot identify into them. Either this individual has such a condition or they do not.

They are also nothing to do with being transgender.

MadamBatty · 02/01/2019 03:22

Bowl, being a woman is also an objective, diagnosable medical state! Doesn’t stop men identity into it.

I identify as a very rich person who does not have to go to work tomorrow. I am work queer, binary, non binary,

It'll be interesting to see if the Five Clouds pub will now become the go-to place for all the alphabet soupers (minus the L) in the SK area.

Good spot with that Bear & Squirrel /Erica intervention, Alec - so they're not even based in the UK Grin

nauticant · 02/01/2019 08:32

Identifies as intersex?

As is clear from this thread there's a push to develop an "intersex umbrella" that embraces both disorders of sex development as are currently understood and "pink brain". The latter then becomes an "intersex of the brain".

No wonder people with an intersex condition are worried.

AbsintheFriends · 02/01/2019 09:21

Weird. Just went to check out Bear and Squirrel's twitter (always curious to read the day to day musings of someone who calls themselves 'Head Squirrel") and they seem to have deleted all tweets, except for a pinned one consisting of a very tired old 'joke' about children being kept on leashes.

I'm sure their 48 followers will be most disappointed.

This would appear to be Erica

I wonder if there are many male born women in the craft beer industry...
Hmm

papayasareyum · 02/01/2019 11:01

I can see very clearly why Erica is invested in this discussion...

FairfaxAikman · 02/01/2019 11:07

Just musing on this.
I've seen supermarkets selling clothing bearing the slogan "The Future is Female". The only reason I can think of for the Adult Human Female shirts being linked to apparent transphobia but Future is Female isn't is that AHM is also linked to Posie Parker - a woman who says no.

MadamBatty · 02/01/2019 11:15

Didn’t somebody (PL) stat that they are on a trans circuit & there is money to be made from it?

Popchyk · 02/01/2019 11:29

Yes, PL did say that.

Let's be honest, how would someone like PL ever make money if it weren't for the trans thing?

It isn't like PL is going to provide an in-depth analysis of Brexit or something is it? Or investigate wrong-doing in the private sector. Or write a statistical analysis of migration patterns within the EU.

Those kinds of things would require keen intelligence, hard work and writing talent.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 02/01/2019 11:29

Didn’t somebody (PL) stat that they are on a trans circuit & there is money to be made from it?

Well, look at the celebrity ones who have their skulls shaved and all sorts in order to pass better - but have built their career around being trans. Surely there's a dilemma there? Wanting to be indistinguishable from women, while at the same time retaining their USP?

MadamBatty · 02/01/2019 11:40

Well people like PL & IW get to tell women how to woman so it’s a public service really. There should be grants for them? hell I never knew that womaning is all about hair makeup & shaving my legs.

R0wantrees · 02/01/2019 11:42

There are many influential TRAs who though born male assert they are female eg Sarah Brown (Stonewall / LIbDems), Sue Pascoe (Channel 4 Inclusion advisor / Conservatives) etc.
Notable also that Bear & Squirrel twitter description is 'Female-owned and Operated brewery'

Sue Pascoe Sky interview (July 2018) from 3:15:
"Now I am legally female, so I have a female birth certificate. I would be buried as a female and god forbid if I ever got into prison, I would go to a women's prison"

I would be buried as a female

Yet if a future archaeological dig were to come across them, they would reach an entirely different conclusion.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 02/01/2019 12:25

I would be buried as a female

Does anyone else find this a weird thing to say? No-one is buried according to their sex or how the identify. They’re buried according to their wishes and those of their loved ones. Or am I completely ignorant of sex based burial practices in some cultures/religions?

R0wantrees · 02/01/2019 12:54

I presumed it was in reference to the death certificate, burial notices etc

ILoveMaxiBondi · 02/01/2019 13:00

Ah yes, ok.
