" Big businesses helped kill the Texas bathroom bill two years ago, targeting it as discriminatory and unnecessary.

They said the legislation, which would have required Texans to use the restrooms that match their sex at birth, would have hampered efforts to woo new companies to the state and turned off convention planners and sports leagues looking at venues for events.

Now, some companies are doubling down on that commitment, citing diversity and inclusivity as factors in their decisions. Apple made this clear Thursday, when it announced a $1 billion investment in the capital city.

The bathroom bill, or something like it, may be back when state lawmakers meet in 2019. But opponents of these restroom regulations say the business community will again give them the ammunition they need to shoot down such divisive legislation.

Ooh, assuming someone's gender. That's transphobic, that is.

Can I identify as Bowl only during the times in which I want to read scientific papers? So I'd be Bowl-fluid, as it were.

AngryAttackKittens · 15/12/2018 00:35

Doesn't take much for him to escalate, does it? I think perhaps MNHQ might want to take a look at this one.

KindOfAGeek · 15/12/2018 00:35

TRANS WOMEN ARE MEN WHO WANT TO BE WOMEN

If I shout and bold it on the Internet, that makes it true, right?

Good move. When you've lost the argument it always restores some credibility to start shouting and talking about grabbing women's skulls and forcing them around Xmas Hmm

Night all

ClosdesMouches · 15/12/2018 00:36

Geek Xmas Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 15/12/2018 00:36

I AM BOWL, FOR REAL.

See? Must be true.

Creepy creepy creepy...

HomeStar · 15/12/2018 00:42

Has this thread disappeared from the FWR chat section? I just went and looked for it and it wasn't on the first few pages, but I was still able to find it and post in it because I had it open in another tab.

Why would they disappear it?

Bowlofbabelfish · 15/12/2018 00:42

I’m sure I do know men who’ve paid for sex. The figure of 10 is one I’ve seen reported before so I can believe that. 20% wouldnt shock me, but I think the 10% is the widely accepted one.
That wasn't quite what I asked though. I mean you acknowledge women are not so keen and I wonder if you have a theory as to why?

Before you say looks or money, I say hand on heart that a man’s looks have never been an issue for me, and having spent many years as a skint student, money wasn’t much of an issue either. I don’t doubt there are a minority of both sexes who go purely on looks but for the average woman, it’s a nice extra, not a main factor.

Do you think they way you treat/act around/think about women is the reason? A man who pays to make a woman have sex with him does not respect women.

Just a thought. The baby is asleep so I will turn in too.

Bowlofbabelfish · 15/12/2018 00:44

You can all identify as me. Grin we will need a secret handshake and I’m not having any of this iced mince pie heresy though

HumberElla · 15/12/2018 00:44

Grabbing someone's skull is generally the only way to "force" someone to look at something.

Is that right? Quite an unpleasant thought...

R0wantrees · 15/12/2018 00:44

9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say

11th rule of misogyny: Basic pattern recognition skills are cruel and evil when they hurt men's feelings.

Pretty sure that "grab someone's skull" would be the first place most people's thoughts would have gone there. I just showed that comment to DH and his response was "WTF?"

AngryAttackKittens · 15/12/2018 00:46

Would not, rather.

HomeStar · 15/12/2018 00:47

Oh, never mind. It appears when I use an incognito window. I must have done something myself to hide it, although I don't know the forum well enough to know what. I knew if I posted that question I'd end up feeling silly for it immediately afterward!

Thank you for the thread, everyone. The guest star may have been infuriating but the responses to him were great.

KindOfAGeek · 15/12/2018 00:48

Oh yes, women are responsible for crimes men do, and it is therefore women's responsibility to play mommy and give EVERYTHING over to those who are needy.

Do us a favor, ffsnotagains, sing another song.

A male industry has decided to undercut women's privacy. That's what this thread is.

R0wantrees · 15/12/2018 00:48

ffsnotagains welcome to FWR.

It's an unusual way to join a board and a thread by shouting in caps and bolds.

Perhpas you & Mr PJ could chat?

HestiaParthenos · 15/12/2018 00:49

You say upthread women don’t like you so much - do you have any insight as to why that might be?

Come on, you can't be serious. This man has been annoying more or less everyone here with his manly opinion, and I have lost my patience to the point I don't read his posts anymore.

I am quite sure he is well aware why women don't like him, and also that it can't be his looks. Seeing as women who can't see how he looks also don't like him.

Bubonicpanic · 15/12/2018 00:49

Looks like the night shift nutter has arrived now to take over.

AngryAttackKittens · 15/12/2018 00:49

Generally I go with "hi, my name is X, lovely to meet you" but maybe that's just too British?
