A thwarted narcissist is a very dangerous person

This.

Better forewarned than taken by surprise though. Not that that's much comfort.

Bowlofbabelfish · 10/12/2018 11:57

I think I remember reading that Green had a close family connection in WYP, AAK

I’m not 100% sure on that though.

Such situations raise serious questions. How far can an individual make drastic changes in policy in a national service (police/teaching/government/NHS ) with no oversight or consensus?

Should we be aiming to agree with a more right-wing analysis that the entire concept of hate crime that the State has an interest in prosecuting is flawed?

This is a difficult one. I can see how hate crime legislation is being abused. But there first must be an actual crime, and that crime must be deemed driven by hate (is that right?) I think the problem is that what’s being reported isn’t a crime in the first place. Hate crime legislation isn’t designed to stop people having opinions others disagree with or upsetting people - it’s supposed to be about crimes.

If you slag off the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster online you’re not committing a hate crime.

If you burn down the church of the FSM you are committing a hate crime. A crime (arson) motivated by hate (of His Noodly Goodness.)

Bowlofbabelfish · 10/12/2018 11:58

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’d be wary of getting g rid of hate crime legislation- it just needs to be applied with a dose of common sense.

Rather lacking just now...

Carowiththegoodhair · 10/12/2018 12:34

I agree. Hate crime should be an aggravating factor not a crime in and of itself.

Saying “I hate Catholics they are all evil and ignorant” is NOT a hate crime and neither should it be.

Saying “I want to hurt you and bring tears to your eyes and make you suffer for being a Catholic **” - malicious comms/harassment with religious hatred being an aggravating factor.

BreakWindandFire · 10/12/2018 13:12

Caroline. Sorry to hear that the harassment is still ongoing. With regard to the lack of police action, have you spoken to your local MP and asked him or her to raise your case with the relevant Home Office Minister? Might give the police a kick up the backside.

AnyFucker · 10/12/2018 18:05

caro I am incensed at what you and your family are being put through

Ereshkigal · 10/12/2018 18:57

You're not the only one. A thwarted narcissist is a very dangerous person, and there are going to be more and more of them about as the trans narrative starts to unravel.

YY.
