Anyway isn’t it transphobic to involve the police? Wasn’t that why they were boycotting pride? Because there was a police presence and it made them feel unsafe?
Aren’t we the evil carceral feminists?

VictoryOrValhalla · 09/12/2018 12:06

I contacted the police a few years ago because a former neighbour sought me out at my new address to tell me he missed watching me through my bedroom window in my old house! I was pretty freaked out. It was the fact he actually went to the trouble of finding my new address and coming to tell me. The police told me he hadn’t done anything wrong. Hmm I can just imagine their response to DR H had he contacted them with this!

CarolDanvers · 09/12/2018 12:07

The police were probably just excited to meet the writer of Father Ted and The IT Crowd. Probably drew lots to see who got the call.

Ereshkigal · 09/12/2018 12:13

Aren’t we the evil carceral feminists?

That's because we want to imprison male people for trivial things like rape, domestic violence and murder against women.

Obviously male people being made fun of on the internet is different, durr.

Katvonblackdeath · 09/12/2018 12:13

Bright side. Being compared to Posie obviously triggered Haddock big time.

The thought of the steam coming out of his ears is really quite amusing.

Waves at Eve and The Monitors

Meanwhile on Penis News this is a totally acceptable way to speak....
And to be honest this is mild, compared to other I've seen.

Graham Linehan visited by police again.....
Spero · 09/12/2018 12:14

Thanks for alerting me to this. Appalling and dangerous. Police need to toughen up and remember that wasting their time is - quite rightly - a crime of its own.

Ereshkigal · 09/12/2018 12:19

The police need to stop wasting public money by pandering to vexatious complaints.

I've had a similar experience to a pp below when I received a note that someone in my neighbourhood was watching me. The police (W Yorks) didn't care.

VictoryOrValhalla · 09/12/2018 12:20

Surely the police have a legal responsibility to use their resources responsibly and in the interests of the public. There are criteria that have to be met for them to take action on a report aren’t there? I’d like to see the paperwork for this one and have it justified by them in relation to their legal responsibilities.

sackrifice · 09/12/2018 12:21

So a man calls the police on another man, for defending a trans person against transphobia?

Badstyley · 09/12/2018 12:23

Harrop is a pathetic little knob.

Awaits knock on the door.

VickyEadie · 09/12/2018 12:23

Why didn't they just tell Harrop to stop wasting police time?

THIS. It's quite astonishing that the police will respond to a complaint which is evidently vexatious nonsense.

ToeToToe · 09/12/2018 12:28

The police actually visited him over that tweet? Are you fucking kidding me?

This is madness - you can't get police to attend a fucking burglary, but tweet about Mermaids or the good doctor Harrop, and they're straight over?! Un-fucking-believable.

Solidarity @glinner Star

hackmum · 09/12/2018 12:30

It bothers me that Harrop is allowed to do this. Surely he could be charged with wasting police time? Imagine if everybody whined to the police when someone said something they didn’t like on Twitter.

I’m also bothered that the police actually visited Glinner. They are already overstretched and no longer come to your house if you’ve been burgled. Why are they prioritising something clearly malicious like this?

LangCleg · 09/12/2018 12:33

More ammunition for the GMC complaints.

This bloke just can't help himself, can he? He's a walking, talking manifestation of the Duluth wheel.

Carowiththegoodhair · 09/12/2018 12:34

I am so angry about this. Compare with what’s happened to me. I can’t put online the latest development because it involves my children, but for 2 months the police have sat there while a man identifies their schools and invites others to do the same, harasses my husband, publishes his private details, makes untrue malicious allegations designed to damage my family, makes violent threats, makes sexual threats, sexually objectifies and sexually humiliates me and I am having to crowdfund for the legal fees needed to stop this, while the police sit on their backsides.

I am not going to repeat some of the comments here, they are too filthy and disgusting and will trigger victims of sexual assault but the double standards are incredible.

misscockerspaniel · 09/12/2018 12:34

Dear Glinner if you are reading this thread, please let us know which police force it was so that we can take action. Remember, the power of MN is behind you Grin

sackrifice · 09/12/2018 12:35

But why are the police jumping to react like this?

Who at the top has skin in this game?

Datun · 09/12/2018 12:41

Not only should be told he is wasting police time, it should be acknowledged that he is making the police look like absolute idiots.

Obliterating public faith, which was already in short supply.

LangCleg · 09/12/2018 12:45

I'd be quite happy to write to the relevant police commissioner on your behalf, @Glinner.

NotBadConsidering · 09/12/2018 12:47

“Log it with 101” is a running MN joke because people seem to think the police will be interested in trivial matters. Well, who’s laughing now? Everyone should log everything, including all the hurty things, because clearly it’s not such a stretch to think some action will be taken Hmm

treaclesoda · 09/12/2018 12:50

Adrian Harrop is a very angry man isn't he?

The sheer hatred appears visible on his face. Whereas she just looks like she pities him.

IsThereRoomAtTheInn · 09/12/2018 12:50

The law abiding people of Hartlepool might like to see a policeman, it was recently dubbed by the BBC the town where " the police don't come out."

PyeWackets · 09/12/2018 12:50

So abused girls are turned away by the police, women who are stalked told to wait until something happens but Dr Harrumph can arrange for the police to visit someone who was mean to him on tinternet?

VisitorsEntrance · 09/12/2018 12:52

I'm really confused. Since when was "someone was mean to me on twitter" been a police matter?

Since people started being nasty to men.
Abuse women, threaten rape and their children all you like. No fucks will be given.
Call a man a twat and you can expect a visit.

IsThereRoomAtTheInn · 09/12/2018 12:52

This definitely reduces the public's confidence in the police.

An (woman) officer talked about it impacting their resources recently at a conference. It was publicised in the on-line press.
