Thanks for the info Carowiththegoodhair. The more people can inform others, the better.

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 09/12/2018 14:31

Hate crime, in all it's forms is a priority for the police atm.

They have to investigate, especially if the complainant is a 'protected group' member.

Dr. Adrian Harrop is a cunt.

VisitorsEntrance · 09/12/2018 14:33

Being a cunt isn't a protected group.

treaclesoda · 09/12/2018 14:38

I don't understand why the 'investigation' can't be in the form of the police reading the offending tweet (or whatever) and then saying 'no, no hate crime there'. Why does it have to involve statements and visiting people?

Presumably if I rang up and reported by neighbour for a hate crime and was asked 'what did they do?' and I said something ridiculous like 'they said they didn't like the colour of my car' I'd be told to get lost and stop wasting their time, because whilst it might have hurt my feelings, they haven't actually done anything criminal.

HomeStar · 09/12/2018 14:40

So was Harrop somehow trying to allege the tweet was homophobic? I can't see how you could get that out of it no matter how much you twist the words.

And I don't understand why the cops wouldn't read the tweet, work out all by themselves it isn't a hate crime, and write Harrop off as a nuisance caller without spending any further time on it.

It's quite sinister.

feministfairy · 09/12/2018 14:50

The definition of transphobia is now so meaningless that it includes anything that someone doesn't like hearing. Trans groups have "trained" the police, civil service, NHS staff, education staff, universities etc with their preferred beliefs. As a result some police forces are acting as personal agents of these groups / individuals. A real misuse of power.
Burglary, assaults, harassment of women (crimes that cause real harm to people) are of little importance to the police compared to tracking down anyone daring to challenge the preferred trans narrative. Sinister indeed.

arranbubonicplague · 09/12/2018 14:52

It's quite sinister.

It's a rather effective chilling mechanism.

If the Police will turn out to visit glinner on what read like such slight grounds, people who are less privileged and protected will definitely consider their livelihood, working conditions etc. before speaking up. How many of us would be able to say anything in particular settings that might be the matter of a report in this Brave New World where conversation and thought is now monitored for wrong speech and wrong think so that by suppressing it we can be free?

You don't need armies to enforce totalitarianism if you can persuade a populace to monitor and police each other.

Terfing · 09/12/2018 14:55

Oddly, Dr Harrassment is being quiet about this whole thing, which is unusual for him... I wonder if PC Plod told him off?

Sarahconnor1 · 09/12/2018 14:57

Thats an interesting threshold Harrop has set in respect of tweets he thinks are worthy of police attention.

Hope Harrop applies the same standard to his own tweets in the future.

HouseOfMouse · 09/12/2018 15:03

This is just ridiculous. I had thought the good doctor was merely a twerp and an ignoramus, but he’s really lost the plot and is showing signs of becoming deranged.

deepwatersolo · 09/12/2018 15:12

It is all quite minority reporty. Well, at least there is still this intermediate step of the police talking to subjects of interest regarding their intentions before punishment is meted out. So we‘re not quite there, yet.

Thingybob · 09/12/2018 15:31

Good old Norfolk police taking harassment so seriously. When I reported my harasser after hundreds of malicious phone calls, thousands of emails containing death threats and mail sent direct to my home address, I waited three weeks for a visit.

AspieAndProud · 09/12/2018 15:36

You don't need armies to enforce totalitarianism if you can persuade a populace to monitor and police each other.

In a truly successful police state there’s no need for police anymore.

littlbrowndog · 09/12/2018 15:36

Well thingybob. You are just a woman

He is a defender of all trans people throughout the world if no5 the universe

DrudgeJedd · 09/12/2018 15:51

Terfing I've also noticed that the Dr & his usual band of backslappers have not tweeted about this at all.
Curious

HelenaDove · 09/12/2018 16:27

Glinner Thanks

i had a bottle thrown at me once by a bloke in the town centre There was a couple of policemen there at the time. They just looked at me and then turned away.

Its a struggle to get the police out when you need them.

And its not all tweets they are interested in. The Grenfell residents have had many racist classist tweets since the fire Really nasty stuff and it hasnt got anywhere near this amount of attention from the police.

Glinner hasnt done anything wrong and gets police visits. Racists target Grenfell residents..............tumbleweed.

Women get harassed and threatened..............tumbleweed.

Graham Linehan visited by police again.....
dippledorus · 09/12/2018 16:48

So let me get this straight.

I had an actual proper real life stalker who sent me flowers to work, followed me from work to train, phoned repeatedly, texted repeatedly, (hundreds if times a day and all hours day and night) made up multiple Facebook accounts wrote lies about me on social media - all because I turned down his advances- and the police told me he was just trying to be friendly and @glinner gets the police at his door because some one got the butt hurt in Twitter?

Ffs.

VisitorsEntrance · 09/12/2018 16:53

Yup.

It takes ten women to say something for it to be listen to as closely as one man.

ToeToToe · 09/12/2018 16:53

Wonderful, Sandy Grin Wine

Neurotrash · 09/12/2018 17:01

Brilliant sandy!

SwearyG · 09/12/2018 17:02

That’s about the measure of it dipple. Look at Posie and Caroline having details of their children and their schools shared and the police shrugging and saying there’s nothing they can do. The difference in approach is astounding, particularly as there are children involved.

Twooter · 09/12/2018 17:02

I wonder if the police just fancied meeting a celebrity, and seeing where they lived etc, so decided to be a bit more proactive than was necessary. After all, it must have sounded like a nice interesting call compared to what else they may have had to do.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 09/12/2018 17:19

Since Harrop is under active investigation by the GMC can someone let them know about this malicious report? I have already sent my letter in.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 09/12/2018 17:34

What is so amusing about Harrap is the fact that it doesn’t take much to get him upset. He appears to have an incredibly fragile ego and is very emotion led. You just hand him the rope and he’s so belligerent he can’t help himself it’s tragic.
I’m seriously concerned about his access to members of the public. He is not a safe pair of hands and I really sincerely believe he is a danger to women.
