Alabanza retweeted these reviews:

BURGERZ by @travisalabanza was an absolutely phenomenal piece of work. So intricately written with such an important message, perfectly woven into a performance that felt both fierce and tender - all whilst deeply rooted in authenticity. Oh and the direction? Sublime 👌🏾

I saw the matinee of #Burgerz by @travisalabanza yesterday and it feels so special to have been there. Part emotional release, part humorous romp, part ritual - retelling and reclaiming of trauma - it was flawlessly managed and controlled. Hats off! Such strength and beauty 💜

Which is a shame as it appears to be very accurate (and entertaining) Enjoy Grin

What on earth!!

BettyDuMonde · 04/11/2018 12:43

Oh my god! That performance is incredibly exclusive - what about THE VEGANS?

Travis hates animals! Travis is a MURDERER!

LangCleg · 04/11/2018 12:44

That Twitter thread made me die laughing!

I genuinely think we should peak trans the nation by putting Travis on the £50 note.

If only having a burger thrown at us was the most violent example we could come up with...

Love seeing snippets of this strange world that seems so very far removed from my everyday life.

My partner said it reminded him of this:

Wtf Grin

BettyDuMonde · 04/11/2018 12:53

Vulva! Based on the wonderful Leigh Bowery:

If anyone had thrown a burger at Leigh in the street he probably would’ve picked it up and eaten it.
Sorely missed. Rest in Power, Leigh.

I am a vegan and I feel
a) marginalised
b) bullied
c) gutted that I wasn't at this show Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/11/2018 13:05

I'm ashamed to say I was previously unaware of Bowery. He sounds like a pretty amazing person [am I allowed to say "he" or have they been retrospectively transed?]

Bowery was very much a man, a flawed man, an inspirational man.

Hard to trans a man who was painted naked by Lucien Freud, but I bet certain folk with no shame would give it a go:

Sarah Stuart's review is brilliant. It sounds like a completely surreal and bizarre performance. At least a 3 on the Cuil scale. Especially the shouty bits.

A BURGER WAS THROWN AT ME IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE SAW AND I HAVE HAD TO LIVE WITH THAT VIOLENCE. I NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE BURGER, DECONSTRUCT THE BURGER. I AM GOING TO MAKE A BURGER, SO THAT I CAN UNDERSTAND THE BURGER. I'M REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS AUDIENCE. ALL OF YOU HAVE HEARD MY STORY OF BEING HIT WITH A BURGER AND NOT ONE OF YOU HAS SAID YOU WERE SORRY IT HAPPENED. NOT ONE OF YOU HAS HUGGED THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU. THERE WAS A WOMAN WHO SAW ME GET HIT WITH A BURGER AND LOOKED AT ME AND I WONDER IF SHE WENT HOME AND CRIED. BECAUSE SHE DID NOTHING. I WOULD LIKE HER TO GET PULLED DOWN THE LADDER WITH ME. WHO IN THIS AUDIENCE WANTS TO HELP ME

MistressFunbox · 04/11/2018 13:26

Oh my god I want to go to this! Mumsnet outing?

Badgerthebodger · 04/11/2018 13:27

Just reading that review is painful, imagine how excruciating it must have been for the audience.

Gileswithachainsaw · 04/11/2018 13:29

Oh my god I want to go to this! Mumsnet outing?

I'm in

We will be able to identify eachother if we all go dye our hair blue , wear neon boob tubes and keep our laces untied.

Ereshkigal · 04/11/2018 13:32

Sadly the London run is finished, but next stop Manchester!

Juells · 04/11/2018 13:34

What does he think happens to lots of women who are walking along minding their own business?

Also I can't help noticing that the sex of the burger-thrower isn't specified, but it's made clear that A WOMAN walking by didn't rush to defend him.

Gileswithachainsaw · 04/11/2018 13:35

What does he think happens to lots of women who are walking along minding their own business?

Probably thinks we should be flattered Hmm

Sorely missed. Rest in Power, Leigh.

Seconded. Travis doesn't even make it to the level of pound shop Leigh Bowery.
