I saw the matinee of #Burgerz by @travisalabanza yesterday and it feels so special to have been there. Part emotional release, part humorous romp, part ritual - retelling and reclaiming of trauma - it was flawlessly managed and controlled. Hats off! Such strength and beauty 💜

Just to point out that I used the pronoun he and the descriptor guy when saying that I thought that he was the guy who had created a fuss because he wanted to use the women's and girls changing rooms at top shop

The point that this is problematic because he is in the category of sex male - also categorized as a man and in accordance with standard English language accorded the pronoun he.

And this right here is why language matters - because if I said "they" were trying to access the women's changing rooms or "she" was there would be no way to identify the potential threat to women in the situation.

And that is why language matters and why women need to protect our category.

I’m currently writing a contemporary performance piece about the time In Home Ec when a boy called me names and took the corned beef out of his sandwich and threw it at me. Took me ages to pick it all off,it was all ground in and caked onto my bag.
