Travez Perry - violent attack at high school

This video is really shocking. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6317165/Transgender-girl-charged-brutal-high-school-attack-caught-camera-says-bullied.html

Obviously it goes without saying that bullying is wrong, and should have been dealt with by the school. But this person kicking and stomping on people who are lying on the ground, resulting in their hospitalisation? That goes far beyond a response to bullying.

A commenter on GC Reddit whose daughter attends the school in question reports that the girl who was beaten has either a broken jaw or fractured skull.

Holy crap, that video is terrible. It will be interesting to see how the trial and (if found guilty - hard to see how they couldn't be with that video evidence) sentencing goes. Will the trans teflon coating win, or will they go down for a long stretch?

(I'd also be fascinated to know what form the "bullying" took - was it genuine bullying or was it in fact a simple assertion that no, I as a young woman do not feel comfortable sharing changing rooms with this male-bodied individual?)

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 25/10/2018 23:06

There's just not very many biological females who would resort to that or be capable of that under the pressure of bullying

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/10/2018 23:18

That was beyond self defense, so far beyond self defense that it has disappeared over the horizon.

BettyDuMonde · 25/10/2018 23:21

Perry’s Facebook account is still under birth name and male pronouns?

As someone said on the DM comments, I hope this person isn’t permitted to participate in girls sports - there is a photo of Perry in gym shorts on their Facebook timeline and there is no way any teenage girl has comparative strength - not even a teen girl who is a competitive body builder.

ohello · 25/10/2018 23:40

I predict that the girl said something like "Women don't have penises". And then was attacked by a brave and stunning transwoman who has never had any kind of puberty blockers or cross sex hormones.

ohello · 25/10/2018 23:41

Take some screenshots before they disappear!

scotsheather · 25/10/2018 23:47

Another case where the 'transgender' status means hee-haw to what is quite simply bullying and assault.

Spasm0dic · 25/10/2018 23:51

Its all about appropriate responses. Girls who were really bullied at my school either left or responded with their own bitchiness. No girl ever responded like that. Physical responses were left to fights between boys. My thoughts go to the hurt girl and her friends and family.

The comments all seem to be coming from the POV of a girl being the attacker. Bullied or not, justified or not, not one comment referred this vicious piece of shit as "he". Yet it changes the whole tone of the incident if you do.
A young MAN attacked a young woman for saying things he didn't like.
Even if what she said was indeed cruel, the fact is he'd still be judged a lot more harshly if he wasn't pretending to be female.

Absofuckinglutely. A young man stomped on the head of a young woman he had already incapacitated. So fucking brave and stunning.

Ereshkigal · 26/10/2018 01:47

Absofuckinglutely. A young man stomped on the head of a young woman he had already incapacitated. So fucking brave and stunning.

Fucking hell. I don't want to watch it. That's terrible.

NotTerfNorCis · 26/10/2018 04:49

Looking at the video, that is a powerfully built male person in stereotypically feminine clothes knocking down and kicking a woman. Am I allowed to say that?

NotTerfNorCis · 26/10/2018 04:50

Bullying is wrong, but if Travis had never claimed to be female, would people be supporting them?

IdaBWells · 26/10/2018 07:18

Of course we do not have the full story and the extent of the bullying and how severe it was, or wasn’t, that will come out in court.

The fact is that this was not a fight or attack of two equals (or more, there were at least two people being kicked in the head once already down in the ground). Young women will attack and fight but it is relatively rare and the strength it took to be this violently vicious was because the attacker was a biological male and was physically bigger and stronger than everyone that was attacked.

The point is that the average male body is taller, bigger and stronger than the average female body and it is one of the many reasons that human cultures in their wisdom have had separate spaces for men and women.

Fucking hell. I don't want to watch it. That's terrible.

It is - she's on the floor, trying to protect her head, as he repeatedly kicks and stomps on it. Only stopped when a police officer runs in and tackles him away.

That's not an understandable reaction to bullying, that's attempted murder.

Ereshkigal · 26/10/2018 08:23

That's not an understandable reaction to bullying, that's attempted murder.

This. There is no verbal abuse that could justify that.

littlbrowndog · 26/10/2018 08:26

Agree Micke that man was kicking a girl and stomping on her
God knows what injuries her and the other lad got
Criminal attack

Stop trolling our boards feminist
It’s yet another man who’s found a way to beat in woman And claim to be the hero

PerspicaciaTick · 26/10/2018 08:37

Feminist4 are you saying the assault didn't happen? Or are you saying you support the trans assailant's right to attack? Or maybe we shouldn't be allowed to talk about it? Exactly what is the positive trans spin you are trying to put on this situation.

StitchingMoss · 26/10/2018 08:41

Ohello, how do you know that? How do you know that’s all she said? She may have been viciously bullying this person for months/years.

Nothing justifies the response but the minimising of the affect of bullying on this thread is shocking.

I’ve been bullied - sustained and vicious verbal bullying. I never hit my bullies but I dreamt about it every day. Let’s not raise bullies up to hero status in an attempt to make a point.

RollerJed · 26/10/2018 08:41

And there are men @Feminist4 infiltrating woman's spaces, being absolute fucking arseholes. Now that is disgraceful Angry

The colour of the attacker is irrelevant.
