Janice Turner and Helen Belcher apparently.

Popchyk · 22/10/2018 12:38

Oooh.

Helen Belcher accused Janice Turner of causing suicides of transgender people (no evidence to back it up of course).

Team Janice.

breastfeedingclownfish · 22/10/2018 12:44

Starting to be discussed more. Great praise of Janice in this clip from Newsnight

I imagine Belcher will studiously avoid the suicide thing because I don't think it would take much to tip Janice into taking legal action. But then again, Belcher might not be able to help themselves.

Belcher is parliamentary candidate for the Lib Dems by the way.

Doesn't talk about anything other than trans usually.

To have Jasmin Alibhai-Brown saying she doesn't write about this issue because she is scared is really chilling. The other reviewer agreed with her too.

Trousered · 22/10/2018 13:02

Just started.

hipsterfun · 22/10/2018 13:03

Sorry, made another thread in haste Blush

Budgieinaberet · 22/10/2018 13:05

Quite, especially as YAB isn’t usually afraid to tackle the thornier issues.

numptynuts · 22/10/2018 13:10

👀

LizzieSiddal · 22/10/2018 13:11

Am listening.

What's going on here? If they agree with Janice Turner, as Yasmin Alibai-Brown clearly said she did, why not write about it? She has made her position clear from saying she agrees with her, so she will be on the TRA hit-list now already, so what has she to lose now by taking part in the debate?

What sort of country are we living in where journalists are afraid to write about an important issue which is the subject of a government consultation?

Manderleyagain · 22/10/2018 13:17

Where did yasmin a b say she was scared to write about it?

Janice is good.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 13:32

Finally. The suicide issue.

Polkasq · 22/10/2018 13:33

Listening now...

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 13:33

You're free to be as you wish anyway.

Good point about rights verses freedoms.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 13:34

ROGD

MrsSnippyPants · 22/10/2018 13:36

Janice is awesome (Yorkshirewoman, just sayin') Wink

TwistedStitch · 22/10/2018 13:36

Janice speaks really well.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 13:36

Belcher is back tracking

hipsterfun · 22/10/2018 13:37

She is awesome.

Did Helen just interpret the q about silencing of women as being silencing of trans people?

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 13:37

And yet is quoting suicide rates again
