"Did Helen just interpret the q about silencing of women as being silencing of trans people?"

Yep.

hackmum · 22/10/2018 13:38

Janice was very good. I switched off when Belcher came on.

Polkasq · 22/10/2018 13:39

So now trans people have "no right to reply"?

AbsintheFriends · 22/10/2018 13:39

'Under attack without any right of reply'

Don't know whether to laugh or cry

TwistedStitch · 22/10/2018 13:39

HB peaking more people as we speak. Bloody hell.

hipsterfun · 22/10/2018 13:39

"Did Helen just interpret the q about silencing of women as being silencing of trans people?"

Yep.

How very self-absorbed.

AnchorMum · 22/10/2018 13:40

Belcher - a cursory 3 second inspection at birth 😂

Farinthepast · 22/10/2018 13:40

My experience of the trans community 20 years ago (through my ex husband) was that they encouraged one another to claim they were going to commit suicide to have the doctors "take them seriously".
Reading other, more recent trans widows stories, I think this is still a common approach.

breastfeedingclownfish · 22/10/2018 13:40

Keep Belcher on all day please

Polkasq · 22/10/2018 13:41

Is anyone going to be able to answer the points Belcher has made? No, seems not...

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/10/2018 13:41

Odfo.

She subscribes to assigned at birth.

While agreeing she respects women's only spaces.

And subscribes to identity.

She's very confused.

MrsSnippyPants · 22/10/2018 13:41

Belcher not challenged at all. Again.

Gentlygently · 22/10/2018 13:41

Seriously? Surely nobody ever said that lesbians were not women........?

Trousered · 22/10/2018 13:41

People bouncing up and down saying what women are!

Honestly, what a doughnut.

thatdamnwoman · 22/10/2018 13:42

And enjoys the privilege of sharing women's loos!

Polkasq · 22/10/2018 13:42

... they're on to cricket now. Shame as there was a good deal to be refuted there!

AbsintheFriends · 22/10/2018 13:42

Helen comes across better on the radio than on television. That point about 'I'm not keen on having men wandering around in the women's toilets' would have caused jaws to drop if listeners could have seen HB saying it.

MsBeaujangles · 22/10/2018 13:42

Give Helen Belcher her own show!

This is what happens when proper debate is facilitated and the TRAs have to explain their ideas and thinking.

I can picture listeners throughout the country wondering what on earth she is talking about.

'Belcher - a cursory 3 second inspection at birth 😂'

FFS. Honestly. And the 'cursory 3 second inspection' defines everything about you for the rest of your life apparently Hmm It most certainly does not, but it DOES definite your biological sex, which is a FACT and DOES NOT CHANGE, but has SOD ALL to do with the rest of your identify. Sorry for shouting Blush

hipsterfun · 22/10/2018 13:43

The interviewer did well, given what we know about the BBCs line.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/10/2018 13:43

Amazingly random blibble blabble from Belcher there.
I specially liked the bit about how ridiculous it is to think you know who someone is from a 3 second inspection at birth.

Manderleyagain · 22/10/2018 13:43

Thanks oldcrone for the newsnight link.

franke · 22/10/2018 13:44

"Study after study after study...". Lie after lie after lie and nobody gets to refute what HB is saying.

MsMcWoodle · 22/10/2018 13:44

Well someone there was lying.
Respects women's spaces my arse.
Trans people being silenced, my even bigger arse.

Budgieinaberet · 22/10/2018 13:44

My head hurts
Thanks Helen I'm sure you have just peaked a few more people
