Great ad, who doesn’t support Trans rights?

It would have been a doifeernt respinse if all those organisations had said “we support all changes advised by Stonewall, to the GRA”. But, that’s never going to happen.

LizzieSiddal · 17/10/2018 09:02

excuse typos.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 09:04

Can't argue with that ad, probably because it doesn't say much.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 09:05

I wonder if there was more too it at first but metro refused to publish, so it was whittled do to this weird bland thing.

heresyandwitchcraft · 17/10/2018 09:21

Good for them.

OvaHere · 17/10/2018 09:22

Doesn't really say much.

Do all those companies specifically support Self ID in it's most radical form or are most just general corporate partners who signed up back when Stonewall was mostly about gay rights and marriage equality?

Might explain why it's a bland ad that doesn't defend it's position on self ID one iota.

Grumpypig · 17/10/2018 09:24

Gosh can’t believe they spent all that money on an ad when it could’ve been used to help so many people in refuges etc etc...

Popchyk · 17/10/2018 09:26

Gosh, can't believe they spent all that money on an ad that doesn't seem to have a point.

Feels like Stonewall are rattled.

Penny1976 · 17/10/2018 09:26

I'm glad the Metro is doing so well out of supporting a balanced debate.

Just goes to show really how foolish it would be to try to suppress one side of it.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 09:28

that doesn't seem to have a point.

If they made it specifically about self ID then they wouldn't be able to fill out space with the logo's....

It's very hard to fill a full page ad with nothing.

Xiaoxiong · 17/10/2018 09:31

I agree with everything in that ad.

Of course, there is nothing in it about self-ID and potential knock-on effects on others, especially women and children.

ohello · 17/10/2018 09:33

^That’s a good ad. Don’t have any problem with it at all.

Did you think we would rubbish it?^

omg. I can't believe how naive you all are.

The entire POINT to making their their demands appear so harmless, is so EVERYBODY and their mother will agree that transrights are human rights and let's all be nice to the trans and give them the few bits they are asking for.

Hello, this is the same thing they've always done. I have NO idea why you're all wandering around going "gosh it's all so harmless". JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DING DING DING.

RiverTam · 17/10/2018 09:33

but all those companies are espousing Stonewall's position. They may not realise it, but that's what they are doing - the link that people are being sent to makes that abundantly clear.

so, as such, all those organisations are not interested in women's rights.

OvaHere · 17/10/2018 09:37

so, as such, all those organisations are not interested in women's rights.

Useful to have a handy list though. It could have taken us months to research independently.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 17/10/2018 09:37

I agree with the respect and dignity for trans people of course, absolutely, no question.

But wonder what this 'trans equality' they speak of is?

What equality are they seeking? Where do they not have equality?
It's a mystery and that ad doesn't help explain it.

Regressionconfession · 17/10/2018 09:40

Very good.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 17/10/2018 09:41

Umm.. . Am I the only one that's fuming or am I not picking up on the irony here? The hashtag goes straight to Stonewalls answers for completing by the consultation

Incredible 👏 Over 100 organisations from business, charity & public sectors have come together today to show our unwavering support for trans equality. Want to help? Fill in the government's #GRA consultation today to #ComeOutForTransEquality goo.gl/H27Res

Agree it's very clever - the whole framing of the debate has been very clever but that doesn't excuse these corporates, govt offices and fecking Sussex police backing it

BabyItsAWildWorld · 17/10/2018 09:41

ohello is right.

It's the non offensive of the ad that makes it so dangerous.
Good TRA tactic- in fact the only one they have left.
That and suicide- but even stonewall obviously saw that a page ad saying 'do what we want or we'll kill ourselves' wouldn't play well with the public.

RedToothBrush · 17/10/2018 09:43

so, as such, all those organisations are not interested in women's rights.

The grapevine tells you interesting things, and the grapevine tells me that at least one of those companies is trying to encourage debate on the subject.

So i don't think it's a closed book.

In other words

Keep talking.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 17/10/2018 09:44

The fecking consultation looks more rigged by the day. If even government offices which have pages of comms guidance on keeping out of active consultations are getting duped into this 'neutral' issue how is anyone supposed to understand it??

Am also annoyed with myself for checking twitter when I swore I'd keep away until lunchtime at least ..

RiverTam · 17/10/2018 09:44

Then that company should not have their logo on an ad from an organization that is not interested in debate.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 09:45

You should probably check at what they agreed with and what the company name is being used for.

scepticalwoman · 17/10/2018 09:45

I'm sure nobody will challenge Stonewall's rights to spend a little of their millions of £££ of funding on this advert or to suggest that they should have spent the money on refuges / setting up trans DV resources even just or supporting vulnerable people.

But this does seem a good time to give this petition with so many heartfelt comments from Stonewall's community a little airing

www.ipetitions.com/petition/dear-stonewall-please-reconsider-your-approach

ohello · 17/10/2018 09:46

sorry for shouting. Confused I think part of the problem is that women just cannot accept how two-faced and manipulative some men are willing to be when it comes to subjugating women. And until women figure it out, this shit will continue to happen wherein some "nice guys" come along and absolutely blindsides women's rights.

That particular ad campaign was exceedingly clever at this point in time. Feminists are just now starting to make it known to the wider public regarding the danger of transgenderism -- that all is not as it appears, that there is a rabid wolf in sheep's clothing beating at the door.

And what does trans do? Put on a sweet little lamb outfit and fling rose petals.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 17/10/2018 09:46

I really can't believe they are unaware that this is a contentious issue at the moment? Can they??
