@redtoothbrush

I'm not sure that the warm satisfaction of an intellectual puzzle solved that you are experiencing was quite the effect Stonewall wanted.

They should choose a less good design company next time :)

speakingwoman · 17/10/2018 10:55

Oh blast, didn't mean to send a direct message to redtoothbrush. never mind.

Penny1976 · 17/10/2018 10:59

@Turph that's great

Could people who find the relevant email addresses to write to please post them on here and I will also share with my GC women's group.

Waspnest · 17/10/2018 10:59

Thanks for that Bespin. Can anyone post a larger version so that I can see who is apparently signing up to this shite please? Though I agree the advert is actually meaningless - it doesn't say what the connection to those companies/organisations is at all for e.g. did they all contribute to funding the ad or have they all received diversity training from Stonewall or were they just asked whether they agreed with trans rights and could Stonewall use their logo on a poster? It's an odd way of lobbying the public - like I'm really going to change my views on an issue because ITV think it's a good idea.

#ComeoutforTransEquality is currently trending on Twitter

Turph

I think GCHQ should be asked to answer those questions.

Will women be monitored or be put on a watch list if we don't believe TWAW?

Destinysdaughter · 17/10/2018 11:02

Isn’t the advert trying to make their demands look normal and acceptable by showing how many big companies and organisations support them? ( though wonder how many would if they knew some of the more extreme demands and the well dodgy backgrounds of some of those promoting them?)

Destinysdaughter · 17/10/2018 11:04

On that Twitter #, lots of the aforementioned companies are tweeting their support. People could contact them through that? ( though if you tweet on their timeline you may get a load of abuse, so be aware of that )

Turph · 17/10/2018 11:07

RiverTam go for it, change it, use it, whatever - I think a specific list of questions relating to objectionable positions Stonewall has taken in public is useful. Stonewall have said they believe an occasional cross dressing straight man is LGBT, and should be treated the same as a woman "without exception". These companies might not realise that is what Stonewall are literally saying.
Ali1cedowntherabbithole good question to add.

Turph · 17/10/2018 11:08

Destinysdaughter
Maybe tweet the responses to the specific questions. We need to Paxman these companies and not let them wriggle around

FoldyRoll · 17/10/2018 11:09

I'll be tweeting every company on that list today, asking them to clarify if they support self id as that's what the advert implies. I may even do it from two different accounts, a very GC one in suffragette colours, and a more neutral one. See if that results in different answers or rates of engagement.

RiverTam · 17/10/2018 11:09

excellent, thanks Turph.

I'm not on Twitter so going to have to do this the old-fashioned way.

Datun · 17/10/2018 11:15

It's too late.

Mainstream media are all reporting that our elected officials have to meet secretly at the House of Commons, because they are too frightened to make their opinions known publicly.

Accountability is becoming inevitable.

This is how it starts, this is how it has started everywhere. One voice, two voices, and then all of them. It's a living example of the Emperors New Clothes.

Datun · 17/10/2018 11:16

And Bespin i'm sure it must be quite galling for you to know that despite you only now taking off your clothes, every woman here has always been able to see your hands.

MsBeaujangles · 17/10/2018 11:19

I get what you are saying RTB but to the average reader the poster is just saying what it says on the tin.
I bet the average reader will think 'oh that's good' and nothing more.
Stonewall isn't able to spout what they want as they won't get support. They are being forced under ground and whilst they can work on coded messages and covert influencing, when Jo Public is given factual information people ridicule their ideas.
The threat for women lies in being silenced. As long as we can get balanced, logical information out there Stonewall will struggle. They were working with the tide, they are now wading against it. Adverts like this won't be sufficient to meet their agenda.

Turph · 17/10/2018 11:22

For tweets maybe something like: "What do your female staff think about a man being able to change his birth certificate to female? Do they think it should be made easier to do?" "Are your female staff happy with being unable to legally remove a male born person from their showers because that person identifies as female?" "What do your employees with children think about encouraging under 16s to chemically transition?" Etc. Specific questions about Stonewall's indefensible positions and whether they, their employees or their customers support those positions.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/10/2018 11:22

This was meant to upset and worry the women here, wasn't it?

Nah.

Destinysdaughter · 17/10/2018 11:23

I wish all those companies supporting Stonewall knew that they were really supporting this:

terfisaslur.com/

Serfisafleur · 17/10/2018 11:24

Most people can read all that "blah blah trans equality" Yes and agree wholeheartedly and also think
"You what, change your gender with no medical opinion, just like that?" And disagree completely.
You know, most people can think things through.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 11:25

Also tweet and ask if the are realise they are supporting the removal or the right for homosexuals to reject someone based on genitals.

BigotedWoman · 17/10/2018 11:25

One angle -

FFPW ad: people read, think holy shit what's this, I'll check it out

Stonewall ad: oh all those companies support trans people, that's good because they're oppressed etc

Too optimistic?

Serfisafleur · 17/10/2018 11:26

Also most people including most of us here support trans equality, but also don't think people can really change sex or that men should use women's services/spaces.

SittingAround1 · 17/10/2018 11:27

It's clever as there is no mention of what they really want.

Get the public sympathetic first, then slowly bring in the changes they want.

SittingAround1 · 17/10/2018 11:28

It will have people subconsciously thinking it's all harmless.

That's what's clever about it.

Turph · 17/10/2018 11:29

I wish all those companies supporting Stonewall knew that they were really supporting this: terfisaslur.com/
Even if we stick to what Stonewall have actually said, it's pretty damning.
They want to remove sex-specific rights in the Equality Act. They published that in "A Vision for Change" which is downloadable. It's not speculation, they set up a group including Jess Bradley and they published their intention to remove sex specific rights in the Equality Act. Do the companies support that too?
