The consultation is going to be discussed tomorrow on Women's Hour. They are asking for our views!

Finally...

AbsintheFriends · 15/10/2018 10:29

Just came on to say the same thing!

A very neutral intro by JG there. 'We want to hear your thoughts.'

Right - where to begin?

MsBeaujangles · 15/10/2018 10:29

They have invited people to get in touch. I expect they have brought extra staff on to cope with the deluge!!

We cross posted! Glad we're all listening.

fanomoninon · 15/10/2018 10:30

Just coming onto post this! Intro suggested the GRA changes were about "Making it easier, it's as simple as that'; and suggested people might want to let WH know "what does it mean for the way people live their lives - women, maybe, live their lives?"

HildaSnibbs · 15/10/2018 10:30

I just came on to post this! I wonder who they're interviewing.

MsBeaujangles · 15/10/2018 10:30

I got the impression that Jane G was reading a script very carefully. Sticking to the words she has been given.

Yes I agree MrsB.

Also she mentioned watching Butterfly on ITV and what are your thoughts on that...

ImPreCis · 15/10/2018 10:33

They are asking for our views by email!

CriticalCondition · 15/10/2018 10:33

I came to post this too. I agree, she was very careful with her words. She also mentioned 'Butterfly' and asked what listeners thought about that. So much to say...

MsBeaujangles · 15/10/2018 10:33

I expect Jane G is gender critical and balanced in her view. If she wasn't it would have been all the usual BBC loaded stuff.
I expect they will try and make the show balanced and will provide opposing views for every point raised.

Who is planning to email?

Would it be a good idea to cover specific aspects individually, instead of trying to put everything in one long rant? So, someone could write specifically about the concerns around children (Butterfly was mentioned) and someone with experience of women's refuges and domestic violence support services could cover that, someone on sport etc. More likely to get clarity and breadth of coverage that way?

MonsterSister · 15/10/2018 10:33

Why do I suspect they won't want the answer 'Currently living life in resigned expectation that every Creepy Bloke in town will now decide to claim trans status and sit in the Ladies with a knowing smirk'?

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/10/2018 10:35

Yes! Ok everyone, we need to get in touch

Justkeepswimmming · 15/10/2018 10:38

So pleased to hear this. I will be emailing in. Can’t listen tomorrow but feeling so hopeful about the possibility of a reasoned, logical discussion. Surely Woman’s Hour has to allow women a voice???

MsBeaujangles · 15/10/2018 10:38

I'd like the conversation to focus on what actually a female is:
At the moment: natal females and vetted people with gender dysphoria. If the proposed changes are made: Natal females and anyone else who wants to be.
If anyone who wants to be considered female has the right to be considered female, what does female mean? Certainly nothing relating to biology.

Email [email protected]

I have emailed in with a list of my concerns - I had it all on my computer from my letter to my MP so I have just adapted that.

GreenGloves · 15/10/2018 10:46

Will they have Jenni Murray gagged in the corner?

  • "Mm mm mm mmm"
  • "Yes Jenni, trans women are women, that's right."

Also which of the usual suspects will they have on for 'balance'?

speakingwoman · 15/10/2018 11:06

bump

breastfeedingclownfish · 15/10/2018 11:13

It's going to be a shitshow. Perhaps we will India Willoughby back talking about hairy legs being dirty and Jenni Murray being hung out to dry for challenging it again. I have absolutely no confidence in the BBC anymore.

borntobequiet · 15/10/2018 11:24

I’m opening Outlook just this minute.

LiverpoolReSisters · 15/10/2018 11:26

We've contacted them and offered to speak.

thefatladyscreams · 15/10/2018 11:31

Email sent.

northender · 15/10/2018 11:41

I've commented

Theinconstantgardener · 15/10/2018 11:44

I'd tried to fill in contact form twice once on tablet and when that didn't work tried on phone and message won't send. Anyone else got this issue?
