53,000 responses? That's going to take a while to read through!

FuriousFifties · 19/10/2018 17:19

Finally managed to submit mine the morning, it took so long but pleased that I've managed to get it in when I've been standing on streets trying to get everyone else to do so!

FuriousFifties · 19/10/2018 17:24

It actually made me realise how much I have absorbed during the last year of GC awareness. Thank you to all the amazing women that I have met at meetings, in local FPFW groups and of course here.

53,000, wonder what the usual submission is like for consultations?

bitheby · 19/10/2018 17:30

Been on it for 2 hours. It keeps crashing. I'm worrying I will lose everything I've already done or won't get it in at all.

CountFosco · 19/10/2018 17:51

I've written to my MP, the Girl Guides and filled in the consultation (using the single click). Most politically active I've been since going on marches in the 90s.

What we going to do tomorrow??? And thankyou so much MNHQ for letting us discuss this here.

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 17:57

I'm a suspicious type but this looks genuine...

Completed the consultation- have YOU?
Lazyteens · 19/10/2018 18:00

Thank you Boglin and AugustL for your help and reassurance re. anonymity. My husband is going to complete fill in the 1-click option tonight (finally after watching News Night), so I can see whether he gets a confirmation email.

Twotabbycats · 19/10/2018 18:07

Have submitted the one-click version (and got confirmation email). Thanks FPFW.

NopeNi · 19/10/2018 18:09

On Twitter they've said "Some people are having difficulty accessing the GRA consultation due to a high
number of submissions. We are ensuring everyone can take part by extending the deadline to noon Monday 22 Oct".

bitheby · 19/10/2018 18:20

Phew. 3 hours in and I'm only on page 12.

morningtoncrescent62 · 19/10/2018 18:26

From WPUK:

"Due to problems with website and sheer weight of submissions (53,000 so far) the Government has extended the deadline for the consultation until noon on Monday. You have all weekend to make your voice heard."

TransposersArePosers · 19/10/2018 19:00

Finished!

That took FOREVER! (Currently suffering with insomnia, so started at 3am when the website worked fine then had to deal with the repeated crashing this afternoon.)

Not sure whether to allow publishing or future contact though - although as I am GC I doubt they'd want to anyway!

Avegemitesandwich · 19/10/2018 19:02

Wow, 53,000 does seem like a lot for this sort of thing! I wonder what the ratios will be like? It sort of feels like a mini referendum, most people are going to come down quite firmly on either side when it comes to self ID.

More time for everyone to submit from here though!

boatyardblues · 19/10/2018 19:13

I’m curious to know how many responses a typical consultation attracts.

bitheby · 19/10/2018 19:21

Took me 4 hours and most of it Id already done. Just loading each page took refresh after refresh. What a way to spend annual leave!

Daisymay2 · 19/10/2018 21:17

I have finally done it and got a confirmation email. It took me more than an hour this morning to get back to the point I left it at last night. Then every page got an error message and at one stage it told me the site was down for updating!! Used the back button an awful lot.
Many many thanks to fairplay for women for a really helpful crib sheet.

Bowlofbabelfish · 19/10/2018 21:36

Me too boatyard

I can tell you for a hot potato like 'air quality' the number of consultations submitted was 729, iirc.

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/496881/air-quality-plans-consult-sum-resp.pdf

But, a very important issues like caste did muster 16,000+ responses.

boatyardblues · 19/10/2018 22:45

OK, so 53k+ is going some. Interesting.

ChillieJeanie · 19/10/2018 22:49

My Mum didn't even know there was a consultation until I mentioned it a couple of days ago. She completed it this morning with the help of the FPFW website.

AugustL · 20/10/2018 02:58

The government guidance documents for this consultation said their LGBT survey, which they seem to say led to this consultation, had around 14,000 responses from trans and non binary folk, and was one of the largest national surveys of LGBT people in the world.

heresyandwitchcraft · 20/10/2018 17:25

Thank you to every person who is filling this out. We're really in a David and Goliath situation. I genuinely appreciate the time everyone is putting in, whether it's one-click or slogging through the whole thing.
