I have just completed the online consultation.

Thank you to fairplayforwomen for the helpful guidance.

It didn't take too long.

THERES ONLY A WEEK LEFT!!!

Do it today.

(Sorry can't link as I'm on my phone which keeps playing up!

Finally finished this evening, it took hours in total because a) I type very slowly and b) I had a lot to rant type about.

Website as slow as a week in the jail, was loosing the will to live so by the time I got to the non-binary question they bloody got all guns blazing!

FPFW's guidance was invaluable, so huge thanks to them

terryleather · 17/10/2018 23:04

, d'oh!

OvulaRasa · 17/10/2018 23:05

Done mine. Thanks to FPFW
I help myself to some of their arguments and mention Katen White and Rachel the biker a few times.

If you are running out of time or are having problems with the online submission try this

OvulaRasa · 17/10/2018 23:06

Cannot do the cliky link but if you copy and paste it is a One Click submission

MamehaSan · 17/10/2018 23:11

Yay, I finally finished it and submitted it this evening! I was spurred on by the brillant posters on here (I'm a lurker rather than a poster). But what a convoluted piece of work it was. I'm well-educated but honestly, it was hard work!

heresyandwitchcraft · 18/10/2018 00:27

Smile All of you are brilliant. I found filling in the response with my reflections a pain, because the questions were hard to understand, existing law is confusing and the format feels intimidating. Could not have done it without the FPFW guidance and the things I had learned from other women. Thank you.

Gabcsika · 18/10/2018 09:43

Finally completed it.

And said they could publish it with my full name - come at me!

I hope it's not too full of spelling mistakes (I make so many typos)

This morning the site is working much better. Much faster.

It took ages to fill in and I left some stuff out (about the army, and solemnising of marriage) as I have no idea about any of it.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 18/10/2018 09:47

I submitted it two days ago.

Thanks to the help from Fair Play for Women.

HOWEVER as I filled it out I started to think - this is all bullshit. I don't want to retain the existing GRA. It all needs proper debate, discussion and redrafting. As far as I could tell, the definitions of gender and sex were woolly at best.

I think this is just the start of the issue - at last.

tenorladybeaker · 18/10/2018 09:53

I did it yesterday but I had to do it by email in the end as the website was massively slow and died on me several times.

Gabcsika · 18/10/2018 10:24

I actually put all that in the last question. That the gra needs repealing and a category of "gender non conformity" needs to be created to ensure protection to those like me (gender disphorics,) as well as non conformists, non transitioners, de transitioners as well as those who do consider themselves trans. This way sex is respected but sois non conformity, and so is society (we no longer have to lie about biology).

I kinda let rip in the last q.

JoGarland · 18/10/2018 10:59

Completed! And my first Mumsnet post. Discovered you lovely people following a link about (ahem) lemon curd doughnuts!!

kesstrel · 18/10/2018 11:02

Just finished mine, direct on the government website. It was easier than I thought it would be, because I took people's advice and have been writing my responses in a word document over the last week, sometimes rewording things I've read here that I thought were particularly well put. So all I had to do was cut and paste, and tick the right boxes based on the Fair Play For Women guidance. Relieved it's done!

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 18/10/2018 12:36

Welcome, JoGarland.
Just did mine, not sure why I waited till the last day!

Foxxinsoxx · 18/10/2018 14:19

I've finally submitted my response with help from the Fair Play for Women guidance. The website was incredibly slow and I had to re-write one section as it crashed and lost what I'd written but I made it to the end. It was such a relief to press submit! I hope they're inundated with responses and that they actually listen!

pinchpoint · 18/10/2018 14:33

Just submitted the damn thing. Glad to see the back of it, as it - and spreading the word about it - has preoccupied me for months now.

In the end, I couldn't help my response turning into a long, fragmented, repetitive rant. I suppose I want whoever analyses the responses to feel the heat of my anger! The insanity of these GRA reform 'proposals.' The sheer gall - and wilful blindness, and misogyny, and creepiness, and selfishness - of those trans activist organisations which deliberately misrepresented the law to every level of the public sector. Gleefully throwing women and kids under the bus. And all for the sake of validating disordered adult male sexual fantasies and delusions.

Patriarchy is nothing if not protean.

By the time I got to one of the last questions 'should non-binary people have additional legal protections' there was steam coming out of my ears. Legal protections for soft-headed, miseducated fools who try to ignore their corporeality and elevate their delusions of gender above all other social considerations???! Seriously???????!!!! Perhaps they want Stupidity to be added to the list of protected characteristics under the Equality Act...

I still can't quite believe this is happening...I can't believe British women have had to analyse conflicts of laws and bring them to the attention of a government whose job it is to do that work! It's terrifying and enraging in equal measure.

breathes

packs down feminist rage I'll be needing more of that to keep going whatever happens with the next stage of this process.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/10/2018 14:54

I had to use the prefilled form as I can not manage the government one because it was too difficult to understand and I have disabled children who take up so much of my time that I have not been able to do that.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 18/10/2018 15:53

Gabcsika

Yes, I did say a bit in the last question about my thoughts on the structure and implementation of the 'consultation', and the absence of debate. There was a thread about making complaints about the consultation itself on here recently, I think that might be worth doing.

I don't see how anyone can really discuss the issues when we don't have an agreed-upon definition of what 'gender' is. Or what 'woman' or 'man' is, for that matter.

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 18/10/2018 16:37

I’ve done it and got my mum and husband to do it too. It took me ages because the questionsare worded so badly

PencilsInSpace · 18/10/2018 16:38

Done it at last!

Fucking hell I could sleep for a week now.

EmilieDuChatelet · 18/10/2018 17:11

Anyone else finding the site running slow at the moment? I've got to Question 19 and want to submit a questionnaire with full responses.

PencilsInSpace · 18/10/2018 17:17

Yes it is slow and I had to reload the page a couple of times. All my responses went through OK though.

Emtwizzle · 18/10/2018 17:26

EmilieDuChatelet

Yes! it is now saying the service is not available.
Incredibly annoying as I haven't saved it since starting it an hour ago!!

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 18/10/2018 17:43

Radio 4 just said it closed tomorrow - that's wrong isn't it?

FekkoTheLawyer · 18/10/2018 17:54

Closes on The 19th.

WomaninBoots · 18/10/2018 18:11

I used the one click submission from FPFW... would have liked to have filled it out more personally but I really struggle with things like that and would have ended up tied up in knots and having a meltdown so I was pleased to have a more simple "vote casting" type option made available to me so thank you FPFW.
