Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Hey up women - someone has arrived to show us how to do 'womaning' right

Thank god - we were waiting for this revolutionary message.

I had no idea how to "take ownership of and assert agency over my own body" till this [person] policed the fuck out of 'what makes a woman'!

(PS I unashamedly enjoy sex too, but the stick-on-hearts would probably end up on the duvet, so not that revolutionary, as someone has to tidy up afterwards!)

I think Munroe has been doing seances where he's channelled Hugh Hefner for tips on how to do feminism.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 08/10/2018 12:00

Put it away, Burgdorf. We've seen it before and it's not impressive.

TheChampagneGalop · 08/10/2018 12:42

Actually this is a male human being choosing to express his fetish in public while manspreading isn't it, so business as usual.

SadieLancaster · 08/10/2018 12:44

He’s a sex worker isn’t he or am I thinking of someone else?

TheChampagneGalop · 08/10/2018 12:45

Men being unashamed of fetishizing the female body is not revolutionary.

howard97A · 08/10/2018 12:57

I suppose if you sit like this for two years it counts as 'living as a woman' for GRC purposes.

NotANotMan · 08/10/2018 13:07

Munroe isn't a sex worker afaik

Oliversmumsarmy · 08/10/2018 13:07

Can't remember because I only watched about 5 minutes but isn't this the person who took the brain gender questionnaire about whether someone had a mans brain or a womans brain or a trans brain.

All i remember was they looked so disappointed with the results of trans brain not womans brain

tediousnamechange · 08/10/2018 13:42

Mumsnet feminist chat at its best!

GunpowderGelatine · 08/10/2018 13:49

I always think there's a sweet irony in a man, who thinks it's his god given right to be accepted as a woman, believing the best way to 'woman' is to be sexy - it's such a male attitude!! How can they not see that?!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 08/10/2018 17:22

Re comments about madonna

AFAIK she has never told feminists / women that it's exclusionary and outdated to go on about women's biological issues ie pregnancy abortion periods etc when doing feminists marches or lambasted "gynocentric" feminism....

++ it's annoying when women do this empowerfulisation schtik but extra massive angering when it's someone like monroe

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 08/10/2018 17:24

That puffa looks like it came from Landsend (the shop; not the location)

NothingOnTellyAgain · 08/10/2018 17:25

article grazia literally titled "women are getting feminism wrong"

you'd think it's trolling but sadly, it#s all real

Are the long blond hair and large breasts the only way to express womanhood.........?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/10/2018 17:28

The main thing women have done wrong re feminism recently is to not make it crystal clear it's for females because the discrimination, abuse and structural oppression still needing to be overcome is rooted in female biology. HTH.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 08/10/2018 17:29

Oh, Grazia!

Last month they had a 'my sister's transgender' story where the author lamented to fact she couldn't go shopping with her sister or braid her hair. The fact they 'knew' she was a boy when she was young because she didn't like girly things/ No apparent awareness of the possible link between the obvious strong gender stereotyping in her family and her sister's desire to escape all that

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 08/10/2018 17:32

Trans women can’t continue to be an afterthought, especially when statistically we are the most at risk when it comes to issues of mental health, sexual assault, unemployment and homelessness

Your pants would be on fire, if you had any on, Munroe

NoNewsisGood · 08/10/2018 17:32

When will we see a person like this posing with grey hair and an 'AA' cup, and slightly sagging at that?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/10/2018 17:35

Transwomen can be front and centre of any movement they wish to create to address issues of discrimination and abuse they experience. But they can't call it 'feminism'.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 08/10/2018 17:36

hmm well I can think of one older trans person posing in their smalls in a way that woudl have got a similar pic of a woman that age lambasted

(and back to madonna again. I like her :D always have. She is extremely formidable and does not do passive for the male gaze. Most men would be terrified of her I'd have thought, no object for consumtion there. Just my view. And she keeps doing it even when older and the press have revolting things to say about her, it's a big fuck you really. Yet a 10yo transwoman gets lauded for taking their clothes off. double standards what a shocker)

BiologyMatters · 08/10/2018 19:16

Surely in this day and age of plastic surgery makeup and perfect hair, then daring to step foot outside your house with messy hair, no makeup and casual clothes is a truer reflection of a woman who is enforcing her own agency over her body? You know almost like, it's ok to not perform femininity for the male gaze?
