So sick of this manipulative shit. A number of tweets on her timeline saying with big sad eyes stuff like "I used to like you but was just so surprised and disappointed with your recent tweets..."

She's allowed to have an opinion as a woman that doesn't centre fucking transpeople. Making her apologise, essentially.

I have so had enough of these pretend-progressive idiots with zero empathy for anyone but their own very limited worldview. Fuck them. When - I hope - the tide turns, we won't forget.

I hope she’s ok, but yes this is not just about toilets. The people who want to silence us want to bring the discussion back down to toilets. It suits them to centre the debate around that, then they can avoid the safeguarding and the erasure of women as a class.

With the way things are going in britain, this precedent will be rolled out for other types of 'wrongthink'. See previous regimes for shutting down dissent in universities and amongst artists.

It applies here.

I had a thread removed on Mumsnet yesterday for two reasons - one of which was for saying a sentence along the lines of the above and I’d better not say the second again in case this post is removed.

I don’t see why I can’t say that on here when it’s well known!

I doubt she was pressured to do the petition, I mean I don’t know how that’s possible unless someone is in front of her in real life.

It’s more likely that she got caught up had an opinion, realised a lot of people are “sad” about her having any opinion on the issue and backtracked.

For TRA unless you follow their ideology 100% they see you as an enemy and that’s why they have lost so many allies in recent years.

Humans should be grey in their thinking and not black and white.

Felt pressured but came back to Twitter saying she was ‘radicalised’. It’s all well and good for her to backtrack, but she’s selling out her sisters in the process and that’s not ok. Really disappointed in how weak so many are. Imagine if the suffragettes gave up because people said mean things or, heaven forbid, it affected their career ( which it did ).

Years from now I’ll remember who threw us under the bus. Us women who suffer PTSD from male assaults and won’t have freedoms if every man and his dick can come into our spaces. Sorry but I’m tired of being understanding when nobody is trying to understand us.

I'm not going to criticise AM.

She has been braver than me.

There are people who have concerns about self-id who believe that transsexual women are women. We can disagree but we should be allowed to disagree.

I imagine there are probably people who are pro self-id who think that debate should happen.

I'd be really surprised if everyone who signed the letter had the same opinion.

Well she is providing a very visible example of the type of pressure that any dissenting view receives.

Personally, I don't want to behave in the same manner as the TRAs who lash out at any slight deviation from the true faith.

This link is to a review in 2011 of a period of 5 years referrals for gender reassignment - 54 people looked at. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/268504889Genderreassignment5YearsofreferralsinOxfordshiree*

For some reason I can't get the pdf to down load but below is an excerpt that was posted elsewhere. This look at referrals was from 2011, and we know the landscape is very different with a far wider pool of people now seeking to self declare gender ID. The reasons listed below which were a concern should still be considered a concern & until someone can explain to me how those with unscrupulous reasons are prevented from using self ID as a means to seek the legal recognition for their self declared gender ID, there should not be any move towards removing the current system which should be the method by which those individuals are blocked from being given a GRC. "Just admin" is such a disingenuous representation of what this is all about.
