So I read this rather weird thread and Linehan claims that this Twitter person "doxxed his wife", but there is no evidence of this at all? The tweet linked in the thread has no personally identifiable information on it as it is blacked out.

Katie Hopkins was sued for 100s of thousands by just implying Jack would be happy about war heros memorials being vandalised. Mr Linehan should get a lawyer himself if that is the sort of libellous claim he makes in reaction to the original claim of libel!

Not to mention all his misgendering and abuse on the basis of her being trans, she has a GRC, I thought she was the type of "transsexual" so-called "gender critical" people were willing to tolerate?

TurfClub · 01/10/2018 21:33

Oh it's a disingenuous TRA. What's your Twitter handle, SistersofMercy?

I believe most of the information Glinner is supposed to have "revealed" is in fact all in the public domain, at companies house, no less. The stuff I have seen makes for what one might call an "interesting" read. Settling in with the popcorn if this one goes to trial. My money's on Glinner!

SistersOfMercy · 01/10/2018 21:42

Oh it's a disingenuous TRA incidentally Mods, if the turf word is disallowed as offensive, why is "TRA" allowed. I'm no activist for anything, let alone trans rights, and it is clearly used as purely a slur on this forum.

I'll take it there is no evidence that this Stephanie person "doxxed" Linehans's wife then, and I am right that this was a false claim by Linehan? One might say a defamatory claim even, given it was published in the Times. Pretty silly to amplify a false claim that you know is false in a national newspaper, equals more damages.

Popchyk · 01/10/2018 21:42

Good that the police are involved though.

Hopefully they will liaise with their colleagues at HMRC and the Fraud Squad.

I can see a good result coming from this.

JillyArmeeen · 01/10/2018 21:43

Well obviously it's been blanked out because no body here is going to doxx linehans wife. Duh.
No idea who the fuck jack is.
He's not giving abuse on the basis of trans but on the basis this person sh being an absolute raging little prick.
Unless they are a prick because they are trans? I think its more likely to do with the fact they are a man but there we go.

FermatsTheorem · 01/10/2018 21:45

As far as I know, the threats to Glinner's wife have been passed to the police (as have the threats, in an unconnected incident, to Posie Parker's children). No-one is going to repeat them on here, that would be daft.

Charliethefeminist · 01/10/2018 21:45

That's an awful thing to have done to you. It's all very well to say 'rubbish won't get anywhere' but it's nasty, will cost money, time and stress, will cost his family, his health, it's horrific. All he's done is stand up for women. Glinner you are a star and we will support you as you support us and our daughters.

SistersOfMercy · 01/10/2018 21:47

Well obviously it's been blanked out because no body here is going to doxx linehans wife, I checked the original tweet, it was blacked out in that too @JillyArmeeen

UpstartCrow · 01/10/2018 21:48

'' I'll take it there is no evidence that this Stephanie person "doxxed" Linehans's wife then, and I am right that this was a false claim by Linehan?''

No, thats incorrect. The relevant information has been redacted.

TurfClub · 01/10/2018 21:48

Yes, the Serious Fraud Office, Companies House, the police, so many people to shine daylight on this.

It seems more than a little foolhardy to pick on a man who is independently wealthy and isn't going to be intimidated by a little lawsuit from a 'lawyer'.

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/10/2018 21:48

I am heartened to see that everything I wanted to say about this has been said:

Vaseline on the lens - check
Dunning-Krueger - check
Arkham vs pressdram- check.

Women of FWR, I love you 😍

Just wondering if justification (ie it being true) is a defence against defamation..? Grin

SistersOfMercy · 01/10/2018 21:49

I can only think Linehan thinks he has been "doxxed" because the unredacted letter was sent to his wife's address. That would be unfortunate and not a little silly, as that is no where near the defn of "doxxing" as far as I can see. If it was all process servers would be guilty of it Grin

FermatsTheorem · 01/10/2018 21:51

Bowl why yes, I do believe the truth is an absolute defence against a charge of defamation.

That's why I'm settling in with popcorn.

I'm just waiting for Private Eye to go after the Flying Non-Solicitor/Non-Barrister.

SistersOfMercy · 01/10/2018 21:51

@UpstartCrow, go check the original tweet on Twitter, it is still there and the information is all redacted. This person spread none of Linehans "dox" online, the claim is a lie, if you like Linehan then he would do well to apologise for that asap.

TurfClub · 01/10/2018 21:52

I wonder if running off to South Africa would be a good way to resolve a defamation lawsuit, say if it wasn't going your way. Speaking hypothetically, obviously.

FermatsTheorem · 01/10/2018 21:54

Well, I believe it has been used as a strategy to avoid other forms of lawsuit. By some people. In some circumstances. Speaking hypothetically.

breastfeedingclownfish · 01/10/2018 21:55

This really is the best site on the internet

TurfClub · 01/10/2018 21:56

Yes I suppose if people were subject to criminal investigation you'd want to look at somewhere warm and with favourable extradition treaties. Having a Russian boyfriend might be quite handy in such a scenario.

Just thinking aloud how I'd deal with such a set of events.

Charliethefeminist · 01/10/2018 21:57

Weird how transactivists get all harumphy about the truth on Twitter, after years of remaining blithely unperturbed by threats of rape, murder and violence against women, by transactivists, across social media.

Obviously our friend Stephanie would never be facing such a set of events, because they are as honest as the Polar winter day is long

UpstartCrow · 01/10/2018 21:58

@SistersOfMercy
Graham Linehan hasn't doxxed anyone, and is being taken to court for doxxing.

VickyEadie · 01/10/2018 21:58

Plenty of us saw Hayden's tweets doxxing Linehan's wife. They have been deleted, but I would imagine various people have screenshots/archive links. It's utterly ridiculous to suggest it's a lie as so many of us saw them.

I saw them. Glinner will have his own screenshots, of course.
