So let me get this straight, Stephanie Hayden is taking Graham Linnehan to court for tweeting information that was in the public domain, after they doxxed his wife, who has nothing to do with this? Ok, good luck with that.

Fucking batshit, and utterly deluded. I doubt Graham is short of a few bob, and of course he is a famous man. Over reaching much.

Maybe we are just missing something? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙄

Nope I thought not.

SwearyG · 01/10/2018 18:08

Isn’t truth the defence to defamation? I can’t see how Graham has much to worry about. He retweeted Hayden’s use of aliases and dissolved companies.

This story about a terrible tennis player suing for defamation after being called “the world’s worst” and losing comes to mind.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/10/2018 18:10

I suspect that it will never go to court. Hayden has set themselves up as the plucky underdog going up against a "global celebrity". I suspect they will milk the poor oppressed minority who can't afford to take on transphobic celebrities.

Wideboy.

Batshit.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:11

I wanna see it in court! Id even take a day off work and bring the popcorn.

Interesting, wonder if SH has engaged an actual solicitor or will self-represent.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:27

That will be fun.

Batshit crazy. I must go and see what dear Germaine Bunbury might think of this (I know this isn't a usual thread to refer to GB, but she is my guru now).

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:33

The ego and mental processing of these people is priceless.

SunsetBeetch · 01/10/2018 18:33

Yep Steph popped up saying "I complained about the poster too!"

terryleather · 01/10/2018 18:35

A quick google search brings this up wrt Querulous Litigants, looks like it's a US site but seems relevant...apologies for bold fail!

"Querulous behavior, according to Mullen and Lester, involves a “totally disproportionate investment of time and resources in grievances that grow steadily from the mundane to the grandiose.” Resolutions not only require “an apology, reparation, and/or compensation but retribution and personal vindication” – objectives beyond what courts can bestow. As Western society and organizations have expanded the opportunities and avenues for individuals to present or appeal grievances and pursue justice, a side effect may be the enabling of abuse. In our experience these individuals often reveal grand fantasies of their ultimate vindication unveiled dramatically at the highest judicial levels, accompanied by criminal punishment and public humiliation of their wrong doers. It can start with a relatively minor issue. Being bypassed for a promotion can eventually lead to a bizarre, life-engrossing campaign to uncover and bring down “global conspiracies.”

In meetings the querulous may insist on taking notes or recording the session. Such individuals do not collaborate well with others, and will dismiss lawyers, union representatives, and other helpers. They may even call for the disbarring of attorneys and the dismissal or prosecution of other officials. In the courtroom they may make unruly remarks to the judge, inviting sanctions. Some may show a keen awareness of the lines not to cross so as to avoid contempt charges or jail terms"

Whats that thing where someone thinks they are more adept than they really are? Sort of like imposter syndrome but the other way round?

Incompetence? Arrogance? Self-aggrandizing? Stupidity?

FermatsTheorem · 01/10/2018 18:37

Much as this must be incredibly stressful for Graham Linehan (I've had a relative subjected to vexatious litigation and even though you know the verdict is going to go your way, it's both upsetting and expensive to defend), and especially with his wife being drawn into the fray too, there's a bit of me looking forward to watching the flying non-solicitor/non-barrister get their arse handed to them on a plate.

(Just for the avoidance of doubt - "barrister" and "solicitor" are protected terms in the UK, "lawyer" is not.)

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:45

Can I say that I'm a lawyer then? I love watching lawyery stuff on TV and always watched Crown Court at lunchtime when I was little.

TurfClub · 01/10/2018 18:48

"This should be interesting.

It's going to bring a lot of things into public debate"

That's not the plan I don't think. Plan is to get Graham to speak to a lawyer find out the cost of even responding to this shit and getting a quick capitulation from Graham to gloat about.

LizzieSiddal · 01/10/2018 18:48

Poor Glinner, I will support any crowdfunded too.

The other person is clearly talking nonesense and will be very interesting to watch.

FermatsTheorem · 01/10/2018 18:48

Yes, Fekko if you want to be a lawyer you can self-ID as such with no come back at all (unless you used that pretend status to defraud someone, I presume). I believe people have checked, and Hayden is neither registered as a barrister, nor as a solicitor. Make of that what you will. (And if I was Glinner's real lawyers, I would be making quite a lot of it...)

FermatsTheorem · 01/10/2018 18:50

That's not the plan I don't think. Plan is to get Graham to speak to a lawyer find out the cost of even responding to this shit and getting a quick capitulation from Graham to gloat about.

That's what the bastard who went after my rellie for alleged professional malpractice thought. Unfortunately for him, he underestimated what a stubborn bastard my utterly lovely rellie is! ULR reckons it cost him as much, if not more, in legal fees, but it was worth it.

TurfClub · 01/10/2018 18:52

Yeah I don't know how properly loaded Graham is, but this shit is expensive. Question is how far Stephanie is willing to pursue this if Graham responds.

BreakWindandFire · 01/10/2018 18:53

All the MRAs, Gamergaters and Alt-Right are backing Steve/Steph on twitter of course.

I see the claim is for defamation, misuse of private information and harassment. Throwing everything at the wall in the hope something will stick? Trying to bog GL down in expensive litigation?

Anyway Graham, if you're reading this tell Steph that your legal response is the same as Arkell v Pressdram.

CrazyToast · 01/10/2018 18:54

This seems about media attention to me. Plus why do they talk about themselves in the third person? It's all odd.

NotTerfNorCis · 01/10/2018 18:56

I hope that:

  1. This brings the batshittery of TRA behaviour and ideology into the public eye, causing a massive gender critical backlash.

  2. The consequences are uncomfortable for Hayden in some way, such as bankruptcy.

  3. Glinner reaps enough reward (financial, popularity) to compensate for the hassle.
