My cat has more legal protection from abuse than a woman in Saudi Arabia.

Quite. Like a Cornish pasty has a clearer definition and protection based on that definition in law in England than a woman.

WeeBisom · 17/11/2020 01:37

Why don't we ask the Saudi Arabian murderers whether they only like the Harry Potter books, or whether they secretly admire JK Rowling. Having said that, given that they murdered trans people is that really a dog whistle?

Quaagars · 17/11/2020 01:46

If that's to my comment that's not even remotely what I said, never even alluded to or referenced them in any way Confused
What has Saudi Arabian murderers got to do with Harry Potter books or JK Rowling?!

Quaagars · 17/11/2020 01:47

I'm actually baffled as in to where you tied them in, I mean whut?!

Quaagars: of course, let me help you. One poster said that "lots of gender critical activism goes on in Saudi Arabia" after discussing the murder of two trans women by Saudi police. The implication was that the murderers were 'gender critical' activists. I inquired how that poster could have known that the police officers were gender critical given that press reports don't mention this. A later poster wryly quipped that perhaps one could infer that the police were gender critical activists because they had 'I love JK Rowling' stickers on their gun barrels. This was sarcasm. You then jumped in with a comment about the stickers and dog whistles, and how they might signify you agreed with JK Rowling's views about trans people, or they might signify that you like the Harry Potter books. Riffing on this comment of yours, I then tied it back to the original subject matter and made a joke that perhaps one could ask the police officers in question whether they merely read Harry Potter or whether they also endorsed JK Rowling's views about trans identity. May I suggest to avoid confusion in future that you go back and read the thread again?

SeaRabbit · 17/11/2020 06:55

Maybe Qaagers is the person to tell us what it was that JKR wrote that was so transphobic.

We've asked so many TRA and they've never told us: do say Qaagers!

PotholeParadies · 17/11/2020 07:15

Well done everyone. I have never clicked on a thread with so many holes, and I bitterly regret not clicking on it earlier, before the posts were deleted!

PEBCAK!

😂

Not heard that before.

missmus · 17/11/2020 08:29

The gaslighting on here is off the scale. Anyway, it's all to do with a delicious thread on a certain southern hemisphere fruit farming site where one of the people in the thread title doxs themself is spectacular fashion and also appears to be messing with legal process through issuing threats. Of course, it might all be a load of hogwash but it looks convincing enough.

IwishNothingButTheBestForYou2 · 17/11/2020 08:53

Lots of gender critical activism goes on in Saudi Arabia.

...or as I prefer to call it - Manland.

From what isn't deleted, I feel forced to conclude that jj really wants us all to take up fruit farming in the... southern hemisphere?

I'm not sure I'd ever heard of it before, but seriously, this amount of drama over another internet forum's existence is very intriguing. Do I need to report myself to Prevent afterwards, or will a report to the UK security services be automatically generated after my visit?

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 17/11/2020 09:27

I was reading last night and fell down the green-fruit rabbit hole. Blimey! Can we expect any kind of "official" update on the case(s) soon, do you think? Possibly via Glinner's site?

The only reason why the Antipodean Fruit Farm has become popular with UK Gender critical women is that it is the few places on the internet where they do not have to censor their speech out of fear.

Indeed. And everything they say is backed up. And it's there for ever. It never really gets deleted, from what I can tell.

BettyDuKeiraBellisMyShero · 17/11/2020 10:36

not one of them was evidence of trans people making bomb threats to meetings.

Bit late to respond to this (from JJ) and while it’s true that no one knows who made that bomb threat, there are at least two British transwomen have either been convicted of or are awaiting trial for explosive related charges, so it’s as if Mumsnetters are just letting their imaginations run wild:

And at least 2 prisoners with a record including bomb threats/ explosives have transitioned in prison
