Ocado boycott after support of Primesight actionhttp://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

Following on from my previous thread that became full Smile

I'll be making my first Waitrose order today, or maybe going back to Tesco. Will definitely give Waitrose a go though and have placed a Christmas order already.

OP posts:
ElfrideSwancourt · 05/10/2018 13:58

I've sent an email and deleted the app - surprised how sad I feel about this :(

I also peak-transed my friend about this, who uses Waitrose and was going to try Ocado, but definitely won't now.

happydappy2 · 05/10/2018 14:10

Apparently it’s time to book my Christmas delivery slot.....they are such muppets for not sorting this out properly.

ratsmagic · 05/10/2018 15:16

Interesting the recent trustpilot comments.

I actually only joined Mumsnet after I heard about the poster issue via Twitter, and after I closed my Ocado account.

Charliethefeminist · 05/10/2018 15:30

It will always be a Nestle now, so, carrying on, but lost the sheen it once had, and always tainted.

tinabloodysparkle · 05/10/2018 16:28

Gutted that Sainsbury's have failed to deliver today stating that payment failed but nobody told me, they just didn't show up (well actually they did show up, sat in the van outside but didn't say a word).

How did everyone get that £20 discount on Waitrose?

Deux · 05/10/2018 16:53

I have an Ocado account but I’ve never actually used it. I’m tempted to place a large order then cancel it at the last minute. Anyone know when they pick the order? It would cost them more if they get as far as picking orders then they’re cancelled due to labour costs and disruption. Hmm

StealthNinjaMum · 05/10/2018 17:29

Deux I think they start picking it after your time to edit the order.

Some people were talking about doing a massive Xmas order and cancelling it at the last minute as by then Ocado would be left with lots of stock but that seems a bit wasteful to me, I hate to think they had to throw away hundreds of turkeys for no reason.

ElfrideSwancourt · 05/10/2018 18:05

I've just edited my first Sainsbury's order for tomorrow and had the option to give them feedback - I wrote one line about their website and 2 paragraphs about why I've left Ocado - got a bit carried away!

Metellaestinhortobibit · 05/10/2018 19:20

Ocado didn't ask me why I was leaving, just assumed it was about money and offered various smartpass deals. I declined, saying I'd no intention of spending money with them ever again. They didn't pursue it and said they'd cancel my smartpass.
Can't see how their business will succeed longterm if they've no interest in their customer base and establishing why people leave/stay, irrespective of the current fiasco. Business 101 to understand your market, no? And surely you would always ask why someone was leaving? After all, it could have been "thin ham" and easily resolved Wink
But with a CEO like that, what can anyone expect?

pocketsofsedition · 06/10/2018 10:15

I requested and received all my data this week. No surprises there, it was mostly just a list of all our orders, favourites, payment details etc. The only 'extra' bit I could find was a segmentation file that seemed to be noting information that would put us in categories like dog owner/cat owner/gluten free/pork eater.

So that's it - so long Ocado. They really don't seem to care. What a way to run a company.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 06/10/2018 10:18

I hate to think they had to throw away hundreds of turkeys for no reason.

They could donate them to charity.

Oh, wait. That would be helpful and sensible.

Sorry - must have been thinking of another company and not Ocado.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 06/10/2018 10:18

It would be a shame if I placed a large order with Ocado and then cancelled it.

StealthNinjaMum · 06/10/2018 11:38

I guess we could each order two crates of champagne or gin and cancel at the last moment. Maybe buy them in the sales before New Years Eve!

BingBongSong · 06/10/2018 16:51

I didn't even realise I still had items in my Ocado basket (must be 10 years old), but saw when I clicked through to unsubscribe from all emails. I haven't used them since we moved house!

Anyway, customer services asked me why I wished to have my details removed from their database and I have told them why.

ElfrideSwancourt · 06/10/2018 17:26

I had my Sainsbury's delivery today it was fab no looking back for me - and saved loads of money Smile

Bolloxio · 06/10/2018 18:09

I spoke to Waitrose who said they very busy with people switching over from Ocado and were well aware whyGrin

Ah very good.

Waitrose won't be making the mistake of siding with misogynists then.

Bolloxio · 06/10/2018 19:11

I got the exact same email posted below and replied saying if a full frank total apology was not planned I wanted acc deleted- also signed adult female and got response saying acc would be deleted. Bastards

Yup, so they are willing to apologize for their ridiculous statement behind closed doors so to speak, but ask the apology to get some air, and its a no. Funny that.

Bolloxio · 06/10/2018 19:17

I hate to think they had to throw away hundreds of turkeys for no reason.

I don't think they would chuck them, but I do think they would put them on special offer to try and get rid of the surplus stock. Depending how many people did this, of course.

Coldallthetime · 06/10/2018 20:03

Ocado's chief technology officer was on You and Yours recently.
Their online shopping sales had gone up 11 per cent but that wasn't making the money, selling the technology to other companies including Morrisons is where they're looking to make big profits:
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0000m7x
It's about 5 minutes from the start.

Coldallthetime · 06/10/2018 20:05

So, this does explain why they probably don't care too much about the customer base, selling the technology is where their focus is.

sashh · 07/10/2018 09:00

I hope Waitrose make a fortune from this. And the local shops.

Gentlygently · 07/10/2018 09:24

If anyone has saved any money from ceasing to use Ocado, and is looking for a good home for it, there is another thread in this section labelled 'accurate polling' that it might be a good idea to read.....

enrichedatthegulags · 08/10/2018 16:49

The bastards KEEP emailing me.

Needmoresleep · 08/10/2018 17:10

I have just done some Googling and it looks as if a fair chunk of Ocado’s valuation is based on its ability to sell its Smart Platform Technology overseas, specifically in the US and the Nordics.

It may be that Ocado does not care much about UK females customers, and is more concerned not to put its foot in it in the US which issuing some sort of public retraction might do.

VickyEadie · 08/10/2018 17:38

I've just had another email, so quite enjoyed telling them again and threatening them with reporting them for GDPR breach if they do not, as requested, remove my details from their database immediately.
