Ocado boycott after support of Primesight actionhttp://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

Following on from my previous thread that became full Smile

I'll be making my first Waitrose order today, or maybe going back to Tesco. Will definitely give Waitrose a go though and have placed a Christmas order already.

OP posts:
Molokonono · 03/10/2018 18:22

I give no shits about ocado, my veggie box comes tomorrow and we have already made arrangements for the other stuff we used to get from there.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 03/10/2018 18:23

It does not look like Ocado is taking this seriously

Doesn't matter does it?
The anger has been shown.

RepealtheGRA · 03/10/2018 18:50

Ocado couldn’t give a shit and I couldn’t give a shit about them. Just move on, accept we’re never shopping there again and book yourself a nice spa day at Bannatyne Spas safe in knowledge you won’t encounter any lady peens there Grin

QueenYnci · 03/10/2018 19:52

After several tries I finally got Ocado to understand I don't care how sorry they are that I was offended (so not actually sorry then).

Requested they cancel my smartpass, close my account and remove all my details from their system. Email confirming this was all done.

Today got a promotional 'New for October' email. Still have my details then...

GladAllOver · 03/10/2018 19:55

If they haven't deleted your details when requested that's an offence under GDPR.

Bannatyne believes in Adult Human Females.

HobNobcentral · 03/10/2018 20:04

Another lurker who’s cancelled their account.

thefatladyscreams · 04/10/2018 10:43

Finally had my chat with “Millie” yesterday. Ocado account now closed and my first order with Waitrose is arriving tomorrow.

I spoke to Waitrose who said they very busy with people switching over from Ocado and were well aware why 😀

Ocado won’t change their stance but hopefully this will make other organisations think in the future.

Needmoresleep · 04/10/2018 10:49

This was posted on another thread:

Target (a chain store in the US) lost $15 billion after they let anybody use the women's bathroom and then allocated $20 million for floor to ceiling cubicles trying to lure customers back. Doesn't matter, many women still won't shop there and two years later Target still hasn't recovered their former profit margins.

I thought it was worth repeating here in case Ocado/Waitrose/etc are reading.

I note also that Sir Stuart Rose is Chairman of Ocado, after a long and sucessful career at M&S. Surely he picked some understanding of women, and the fact they don't like to be patronised, along the way.

After prevaricating for a week I have now closed my account. Their email 'apology' pushed me over the edge.

First Waitrose shop arriving tomorrow, and I'm delighted to have got £20 off, and thanks to the PP in here who mentioned Quidco - signed up to get cashback through them too. I am one very happy Adult Human Female!

MnerXX · 04/10/2018 13:09

Ocado are being unbelievably short sighted. I bet the others supermarkets etc cannot believe their luck and great that people are switching to the high street as well. We were already getting our meat from the farm down the road and an independent fish van comes with our fish. I love the knowledge and expertise that you get from the local suppliers.

pinchpoint · 04/10/2018 13:14

I've put it all in an email, had the standard reply (apologising if I was "confused" Angry), came back to them reiterating that due to their CEO attending the President's Club dinner, then his company actively supporting the erasure of women's rights, I would be taking my custom elsewhere and closing my account. You can't alienate and insult your core market and expect them to keep on spending. Hefty lifetime spend.

They don't seem to get it. At all. I wish they'd get Fair Play for Women in to enlighten them.

MotherofPearl · 04/10/2018 15:06

I'm quite surprised by how fast they have deleted my account! I emailed them this morning and it's all deleted - though they didn't reply to my email asking to cancel, and haven't made any attempt to entice me to stay.

It's almost as if they don't want my custom. Hmm

Ratitatita · 04/10/2018 15:10

The Ocado share price has taken a hit today (-8%). Not sure if there are external factors at play but that is likely to focus their minds.

enrichedatthegulags · 04/10/2018 15:21

If anyone has asked for their data deleted but is still receiving communications from them, what do you need to do to get them a telling off? What's the timeframe they have to delete also?
(had all the training at work but I'm on mat leave and lack of sleep has turned my brain to mashed potato)

Ratitatita · 04/10/2018 15:29

ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/individual-rights/right-to-erasure/ - it seems that they have one month to process a request for erasure.

ratsmagic · 04/10/2018 20:00

Here is a bunch of information on Ocado shareholders too:

investors.morningstar.com/ownership/shareholders-major.html?t=XBER:0OC&region=deu&culture=en-US&ownerCountry=USA

I have to say when I called to cancel the person was totally awesome and said it was bloody ridiculous what was going on.

Last week I asked for my lifetime spend but as the previous awesome person had done such a good job of immediately closing my account down there was no trace of me left on the system!

I'm delighted at how much money I've saved, and I've had a wonderful time buying everything in person from our local farm shop instead.

tinabloodysparkle · 05/10/2018 09:43

Would love to know how many have cancelled (versus how many they had in the first place).

All they need to do is align themselves with adult human females (y'know, their core-customer base) and I'd probably go back.

If they refuse, I'm saving ££ With Sainsbury's

Barracker · 05/10/2018 09:48

Thanks for the poke to do this, I've cancelled too.
I told them their private apology to a public condemnation of women buttered no parsnips.
Signed off Adult Human Female.

ElfrideSwancourt · 05/10/2018 13:41

I've cancelled Ocado - v reluctant because their delivery service is so good, but he explained it all to my DH, who totally supports us, and is also excited at saving money re shopping at Sainsbury's!

My experience of Sainsbury's delivery service is not good, but that was a few years ago, so hoping it has improved.

I was quite disappointed that the person I spoke to was not in the slightest bit interested in why I had cancelled, so Im going to email them now.

ElfrideSwancourt · 05/10/2018 13:42

but explained, don't know where that rogue 'he' sneaked in!

Whatnextfred · 05/10/2018 13:44

I got the exact same email posted below and replied saying if a full frank total apology was not planned I wanted acc deleted- also signed adult female and got response saying acc would be deleted. Bastards Angry

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 05/10/2018 13:47

That reminds me - still no response to my last email to Ocado so it looks like it's time to follow up.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 05/10/2018 13:49

I see that Tara Hewitt has left a glowing review for Ocado on TrustPilot.
