Posie Parker will be on This Morning tomorrow.

Not sure which TRA/AWA will be provided for her to chew up and spit out though.

Doris, do try to keep up, dear!

Knicknackpaddyflak · 27/09/2018 14:05

Jane knitting always makes me long for a GC woman on a panel to turn up and do a bit of spot welding while they speak.

GC woman on a panel to turn up and do a bit of spot welding while they speak.

You made me spit out my tea! Grin

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 27/09/2018 14:12

Used to be Campbell's condensed soup. Not sure if it's still Campbell's. My mum's standby all through my childhood. Not great as soup, but useful as a cook in sauce. If making it up as soup, you empty the tin into a saucepan and then fill the can with water, tip that into the soup, heat through, stirring to mix. My favourite was tomato rice, which is rarely available now.

BettyDuMonde · 27/09/2018 14:15

I used to proper love that tomato-rice stuff. I bought powdered-packet minestrone yesterday on some kind of nostalgia-whim. Nothing I buy for those reasons ever tastes right though, it’s the new-fangled reduced salt content, I assume?

Yes yes to live action welding!

WellErrr · 27/09/2018 14:18

commentary on society as a whole that appearance is such an issue, but this is where we are and this is what we have to work with.
Posie is doing a grand job.

I know it's a shame that looks and femininity is so important when it comes to women being listened to, but that's just the way it is.

The suffragettes had strict rules around always appearing clean, elegant and feminine, for this very reason.

Even typing that makes me feel ill, but tis the world Sad

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 27/09/2018 14:19

With my tinfoil hat firmly on, might not be a bad idea to stock up on tinned and dried goods before Brexit. Sad Angry God knows what's going to happen to food imports from Europe in the first few weeks afterwards.

TinselAngel · 27/09/2018 14:23

Lovers of luxury like myself, would dilute their condensed Campbell's soup with half milk and half water.

Lemonyfuckit · 27/09/2018 14:29

Just watched the Sky video, all I can say is Posie Parker is my new hero.

NicoAndTheNiners · 27/09/2018 14:31

Fingers crossed they get LM in for the other side. Posie would have them for breakfast!

Charliethefeminist · 27/09/2018 14:33

LM would be a bad look because LM gives impression of being troubled and pathetic. Everyone of us could make mincemeat but would you wany to? LM needs mental health support.

Juells · 27/09/2018 14:34

This thread is awful :-/

That's because we're just a pack of bitches. Grin

As others have said, accusing women of being mean doesn't work as well as it used to in making us shut up.

I got a little frisson of delighted surprise in the Sky interview when Posie came straight out and said the un-sayable "They're not women".

ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2018 14:36

Posie has a very good voice too, crisp, clear and easy to listen to.

She demonstrated an unusual ability in a woman yesterday- that she could actually manage to speak over a man, it's so commonly the other way round.

If none of the TRA types wish to make themselves available, maybe it would be good if the producers ask someone like Debbie or Miranda to give a trans viewpoint ... 'yes, I'm trans and duh, yes a woman is an adult human female' ... I can probably dream on

R0wantrees · 27/09/2018 14:38

Paris Lees Twitter comment:
'So some arsehole spends 700 quid on a billboard in Liverpool saying "Woman: adult human female" to let trans women know that she doesn't think we're real women. Meanwhile a black trans woman has been horrifically murdered. Guess which one I've been invited to talk about on TV?'

^NB the murder PL refers to is that of Naomi Hersi.
Naomi Hersi was murdered in March 2018.^

The trial started this week, reported by BBC (& will of course be subject to restrictions on reporting & speculation etc):
'Transgender woman 'murdered after sex and drugs binge''
(extract)
"A university dropout murdered a transgender woman after a three-day sex and drugs binge, a court has heard.

Jesse McDonald, 25, is accused of drugging Naomi Hersi, 36, before stabbing her to death in a hotel near Heathrow Airport in March."

Mr McDonald met his victim on a swingers website when "looking for excitement" online, jurors were told.

At the Old Bailey, Mr McDonald denied a charge of murder between 14-18 March and perverting the course of justice.

His girlfriend Natalia Darkowska, 18, denies a charge of perverting the course of justice." (cont)

"Each was thinking only of themselves and each other - without a care for the deceased, whom they believed was unlikely, because of her lifestyle, to be missed," [Prosecutor Mark Heywood QC] said.

Mr McDonald, who grew up in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, turned to dealing drugs after dropping out of the London School of Economics (LSE), it was said. (continues)

Posie on This Morning
ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2018 14:41

I'm guessing TRA stands for trans rights activists/ Why would anyone be advocating that a trans rights activist should be 'chewed up and spat out?'

They weren't 'advocating' that, merely predicting a likely outcome. The context was that yesterday, Posie chewed up and spat out a man (not trans) who is a TRA/AWA - anti women activist.

opla · 27/09/2018 14:43

I think it's easy to say "you're bullying" when you think the group we're talking about are (say) young frightened vulnerable children, or kind sincere transsexual people.

We're not.

We're fighting for the right for "women" to continue legally existing: without this label we don't have any defined rights; we don't have any social redress against sexism, we don't have any way of having things we've been taking for granted like sports opportunities, refuges, safe changing areas.

The moment you let anyone become a woman with a mere random thought that they are one (as self-ID allows) then we lose out to people who may be out to game the system or may really just be unwell. So do the actual people with mental health problems like dysphoria, because they're brushed aside with a "it's all fixed now isn't it?" attitude.

Self-ID is a truly terrifying Orwellian notion which no one should be nodding along to.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2018 14:44

There's a reason why 'reacting with facts' doesn't work for you, Paris...

Fact is, woman=adult human female. Fact is, humans are a sexually dimorphic species. Fact is, mammals can't change sex.

WokerThanWoke · 27/09/2018 14:44

PL: "We react with facts"

Pull the other one, love.

Elephantinacravat · 27/09/2018 14:49

So Paris Lees is back to being active on Twitter after their stint on The Island the.

Paris knows they would get absolutely roasted alive by anyone with an ounce of common sense on this issue, let alone Posie Parker. Paris just doesn't have the ovaries to go on TV and talk about this and especially not with someone who they know will give no fucks about declaring that the emperor is stark bollock naked.

RepealtheGRA · 27/09/2018 14:51

Why is PL doing shout outs to women’s aid? What have they capitulated on?

OP posts:
Elephantinacravat · 27/09/2018 14:53

And I see that Paris is back to their old style of twisting the wording in their tweets with their 'meanwhile a transwoman has been murdered' when referring to a murder which took place months ago (I'm not diminishing the murder of Naomi Hersi at all, I'm saying PL made it sound like this had just happened and should be front page news).

NoSquirrels · 27/09/2018 15:01

Is it the Naomi Hersi murder PL is referring to?

R0wantrees · 27/09/2018 15:01

Why is PL doing shout outs to women’s aid? What have they capitulated on?

I don't think PL has any idea how many of those involved in standing up against gender self-id etc have been 'doing real work to improve the lives of girls and women' (human females) for a long time.

Perhaps Paris Lees should listen to Jean Hatchet or Dr Julia Long's speeches on Friday?
