Posie Parker will be on This Morning tomorrow.

Not sure which TRA/AWA will be provided for her to chew up and spit out though.

when a trans'woman' commits a crime, including violent crime, the BBC calls them women. When a trans'woman', is a crime victim, the BBC highlights their trans status

That is a very perceptive comment. I'd like to see the BBC respond to that.

KatVonGulag · 27/09/2018 16:22

That's definitely worth pointing out to the "not biased at all Beeb"

The trans rights activists didn't go because they were scared? That's honestly ridiculous.

AbsintheFriends · 27/09/2018 16:26

IW would be on dangerous ground going head to head with Posie about the billboard, given IW's recent rant about Bunce not being a real trans woman (ergo woman.)

How do we possibly decide what a real woman is? I think most This Morning viewers would agree that 'adult human female' sums it up nicely.

WomanAKAAdultHumanFemale · 27/09/2018 16:27

Hah. I know a transwoman (TW) who is a big, hulking person with a jaw that could crack walnuts. They were involved in a minor tiff with a neighbour (along the lines of TW's bicycle was blocking a doorway in a block of flats so the bicycle was moved a few feet so that it rested against a wall). Oh, the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth and crying that they were going to take self-defence classes because they were not going to allow themselves to be intimidated.

The performative femininity was entertaining but not very convincing.

FloralBunting · 27/09/2018 16:31

Lol @ Posie going all GoT. DP did call her a kick-arse Marilyn Monroe last night.

NopeNi · 27/09/2018 16:32

I don't have a tv - will this be viewable online anywhere?

FloralBunting · 27/09/2018 16:33

NopeNi, the ITV hub app should let you watch live online at least.

CarolDanvers · 27/09/2018 16:38

I've noticed more and more that Paris Lees will not engage in challenging debate . I'm beginning to believe that Paris doesn't actually give a shit about other Trans people so long as Paris is recognised and feted as a woman. A bit like India really. Paris is not intelligent or resilient enough generally and we saw that on Celebrity Island. There's no way Paris will ever engage in a debate with a strenuous GC commenter. They're not capable of it and I think they know that. I think IW or MB are both arrogant and bumptious enough to try their luck though.

IndominusRex · 27/09/2018 16:50

Bit late but I can weld. And my mask would get around my necessitated anonymity (due to stalking) nicely. Grin

NopeNi · 27/09/2018 16:50

Thank you Floral, will download now!

Bolloxio · 27/09/2018 17:52

The murder of a sex worker proves sex work is unsafe, and men who use sex workers can be violent. It’s not necessarily a trans issue, it’s a sex worker issue.

Indeed.

It tends to be TRAs who are against 'SWERFs' anyway. As its horrendous to think sex workers should be safer.

R0wantrees · 27/09/2018 18:36

I've noticed more and more that Paris Lees will not engage in challenging debate

2013 Guardian Article about Press For Change and other successful activists for trans rights:
(extract)
"In 25 years, [James] Barrett has seen trans people become "a networked bunch" – more so than other people, he thinks – thanks to the internet. Lees, who also works for Trans Media Action, says social media is the "essential catalyst" for the transformation of trans people in society. "Society is in transition and we've woken up from the operation and there's no going back. We can't pretend that trans people don't exist any more," she says. "People have been taking the piss out of trans people for 60 years. The narrative on trans issues has been controlled by people who have no understanding of them. Social media is about us grabbing the narrative back and telling our own stories – this is our reality, this is what we go through and this is what matters to us." (continues)

Paris Lees tweeting quite a bit.

birdbandit · 27/09/2018 18:41

I predict IW, and it'll be "TRA's don't represent me, because they are the bad men and I'm a nice woman." But no names as they don't want to alienate their twitter supporters, despite throwing them under the bus for supporting their ideology.

Back on twitter it'll be spun as a victory (despite the outcome) for trans and the same TRAs, who are dim enough to not realise their role as echo and cannon fodder.

IW is articulate and smart enough say nothing too confrontational, to appear supportive of women, which as a class would include her but not the nasty, (despite their doing and saying the same things, because it's about identity rather than actions, innit.)

CarolDanvers · 27/09/2018 20:15

2013 Guardian Article about Press For Change and other successful activists for trans rights:

What's your point? This was five years ago...so yes I still say that PL is keeping quiet these days. Paris may tweet but doesn't often respond to detractors to discuss and when was the last time you saw Paris take on a GC commenter on a current affairs programme? Paris has been on Vogue, Celebrity Island and CBB; non combative appearances. Paris went quiet after the IW CBB debacle and we've heard very little from Paris since.

MyAuntyBadger · 27/09/2018 20:29

It's India, just posted on twitter.

RepealtheGRA · 27/09/2018 20:30

Good call floral Smile

Lottapianos · 27/09/2018 20:33

Well I look forward to seeing Posie wipe the floor with IW tomorrow!

MyAuntyBadger · 27/09/2018 20:34

India is going 'to nail transphobia once and for all' on This Morning tomorrow.

NopeNi · 27/09/2018 20:35

Good luck for tomorrow Posie if you're reading. Hope you get some good sleep tonight - here's a virtual hot chocolate from me Brew (or a big Wine)

FloralBunting · 27/09/2018 20:36
R0wantrees · 27/09/2018 20:38

What's your point?

Its background information. PL has had a lot of control in some parts of the media and social media.

PL's control of Question Time this year was interesting.

Also interesting how PL responds when perhaps she doesn't have the control she wants / expects.

CarolDanvers · 27/09/2018 20:44

Paris was given control of QT. It was a safe platform. Paris will not engage in impromptu debate such as with Posie on GM and Paros has gone been quiet of late since the swing back started. Maybe you just can’t/don’t want to see it?

trumptrump · 27/09/2018 20:46

Oh dear! IW and PP will be like a tornado meeting a volcano... I bet the producers are rubbing their hands with glee!

CarolDanvers · 27/09/2018 20:47

There’s not many responses on India’s twitter. Is it because India blocks everyone who is even remotely negative?

FloralBunting · 27/09/2018 20:48

CarolDanvers, I think you might be misreading R0wan's posts. She's posting collated info so that lurkers can keep up to speed with the players in view.
