Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

Such a good point, NothingOnTellyAgain.

MotherofPearl · 28/09/2018 21:24

Oh and in my email I noted that their denial of the reality of biological sex undermines the Equalities Act's recognition of sex as a protected category, adding that I'm sure that Ocado must know that, what with their much-vaunted "values".

QueenYnci · 28/09/2018 21:36

Just had my email from Millie (I asked for a written response).

Interestingly they listed sex rather than gender this time...

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 28/09/2018 21:38

Because it was written, it means you have proof, so they are more careful. with phone calls they can say what they like and forget to record it.

QueenYnci · 28/09/2018 21:45

Email responses from yesterday seem to list gender.

The rest of the email is identical to the screenshot upthread. Just that one (very important) word has been changed.

thefatladyscreams · 28/09/2018 21:59

Feeling unloved as Millie hasn’t rung me! And no response to either of my emails to Tim Steiner. Order cancelled, Waitrose app downloaded, farewell Ocado. Bizarre situation when you think how much companies spend gaining new customers. Ocado is forcing its previously happy ones to leave...

PerverseConverse · 28/09/2018 22:13

Ffs now there's sexist posts on trustpilot in response to ours??

This thread will be full soon so I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who posted on here and took action against the misogynistic Ocado. I feel a real sense of solidarity on this and am proud of everyone who has stood by their own values and recognised the value of women by boycotting this company. We stand for women, we stand in solidarity to oppose misogyny, we stand for adult human females.

I'm disproportionally pissed off that Millie hasn't phoned me. On the plus side I was forced into "real shops". Sainsbury's have some lovely greetings cards and homeware shite

I'm going to ask for my 'lifetime spend' because I am aghast at some of the figures and fear mine may be just as huge.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 28/09/2018 22:42

Someone may have already said this upthread - sorry if so - but waitrose offering £20 off first and (i think, have closed window) second shop for new customers if you spend over £80.

Jarveau · 28/09/2018 22:43

I think Morrisons is breaking away from the Ocado machine. In my area the deliveries are now coming from local stores whereas previously they came from a West Yorkshire warehouse with the same vans, drivers and systems as Ocado. The service is easily as good and the prices are much lower.

Also, Waitrose send out lots of decent vouchers, eg £8 off a £40 shop in stores, or £100 online. So, best of both.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/09/2018 22:56

I have got 2/3 of the way down the thread and counted 91 people who have cancelled completely, or one order or placed a christmas shop with a competitor. plus another handful who were considering ocado or used them infrequently and will not now.

PerverseConverse · 28/09/2018 23:06

BlackeyedSusan that's awesome isn't it? The power of women. That's a lot of money ocado won't be getting. Around £500,000 a year less, roughly from what people have said on here. And that's without the lurkers who have cancelled, or the people not on here looking at trustpilot and Facebook and twitter and deciding to cancel. That's a lot of money to lose.

it's just seems so stupid though, as someone said most companies are out to gain as many customers as they can get.

it feels like they are cutting their nose off to spite their face. Confused

seafret · 28/09/2018 23:20

I got a voicemail from Finnoula! Nothing less than a pro-female woman public statement will change my mind

Have asked for my data too.

Thanks for the thread. Been good for morale :)

Now.. a BBC boycott anyone

Reallylongstory1 · 28/09/2018 23:24

My Waitrose delivery arrived tonight instead of my Ocado one.

Reply from customer services this evening.

Hello,
Thanks for contacting us, we hope to respond to you within 24 hours, but sometimes it can take a bit longer.
Kind regards,
Laura

Do you think they might be a wee bit busy?

MnerXX · 28/09/2018 23:56

Are we having another thread?

ShotsFired · 29/09/2018 00:35

Why can't we act as "marriage broker" and bring all the interested parties together in Twitter?

We can supply Ocado's comments and how they don't agree with Primesight after all, and also let the good Doctor know for good measure too. Im sure he would be keenly interested to hear this.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 29/09/2018 00:57

Trustpilot score 5.0. Ouch.

ratsmagic · 29/09/2018 06:39

They haven't phoned or emailed me - but I did have a rather brilliant cancellation chat initially where the slightly rogue CS person was right behind all of us - and said the world has gone mad. So that was well worth it.

I've requested my lifetime spend starting from 2002. Hopefully there will be a new thread so we compare notes once we all get that info.

The biggest bummer is not getting my Daylesford homewares-on-sale fix but I can order directly from their website anyway.

JustPoppingIn · 29/09/2018 06:54

I am an infrequent user of Ocado, but I do control the family shopping budget. I have emailed them asking for my account to be removed and personal details deleted.

It will be no great loss to Ocado, but it makes a point.

First post in Feminism Chat.

TimeLady · 29/09/2018 07:05

Ocado's 'Bad' rating on Trust Pilot was 21% at 5pm yesterday.

It's now 22%

Molokonono · 29/09/2018 07:06

I think it deserves a part 2.

VanillaSugary · 29/09/2018 07:08

@ratsmagic Are you me???? I was about to order a load of Daylesford items too!!!

I've binned Ocado. Something weird is happening to the website as it won't let me log in, even after I've changed the password.
