Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

I cancelled Wednesday got an email today with lots of offers.

I'm going to have to email again using words of one syllable aren't I?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 17:34

Will he be delivering a little more than groceries on his rounds today?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 17:39

I'm enjoying trustpilot more than ever these days. Who's going to do the first Haiku?

seafret · 28/09/2018 17:59

Also re Ocado, I believe it is really quite automated with robots and stuff in the warehouses and lots of "computer says no" situations where humans cannot use their initiative eg to pack bags properly, so the whole set up is not very supportive of human jobs, or general human rights and dignity for that matter!

I was a reluctant user of Ocado due to circs, but now Waitrose have better slots for where I live I can get the organic stuff without needing to plan a week ahead which we can't do. And Sains have great organic stuff. No good organic farm boxes near here sadly.

I like that Waitrose has the partner structure and hope that the recent name change is more than superficial as I think they can be more partner friendly.

So believe it or not, I called to cancel and the guy told me that because it's under my husband's email address, DH has to call and cancel. Then he said "can I ask why are you cancelling" and I just started laughing! It was so ridiculous that he was asking to talk to my husband!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 18:11

Well that is data protection though. If you are nof the registered account holder they can't close it down. However your husband can give them permission for anyone else to speak on his behalf.

HowVeryDareYou · 28/09/2018 18:13

They're not going to apologise.... just got this via email
Unfortunately at this time we're not issuing written responses and public announcements regarding this issue, so I attempted to call you back to explain matters further but was unable to get through.

Off to Waitrose permanently for me then Smile

Under His Eye.....Wink

WokerThanWoke · 28/09/2018 18:15

Sorry penny are you saying the driver mentioned Ocado had been mentioned on LBC or did you mention it to him?

GladAllOver · 28/09/2018 18:22

How can that be "unfortunate"? It's their own choice not to apologise properly - nothing to do with fortune or accident.

The consequences are "unfortunate" for them though.

Ocado are linked to a lot of misogyny, this is just the latest.

StealthNinjaMum · 28/09/2018 18:26

That's disappointing. I will cancel my smartpass and start shopping with Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

I wonder how many hundreds of us have cancelled our accounts, there must be at least 50 complaints on trust pilot and a few hundred on this thread. I guess they think we'll forget about it.

I won't.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 18:30

Has this been picked up anywhere in the media?

redshoeblueshoe · 28/09/2018 18:39

Nah no one gives a toss about women. Even when they are the target audience

BirdseyesFrozen · 28/09/2018 18:46

Sorry Fekko Haiku is presently out of stock, we have made a substitution to your order

"I don't care
What they're going to say
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway"

Needmoresleep · 28/09/2018 18:52

I wonder if it will be covered in the trade press, or in advertising and PR journals.

Somehow I think the marketing departments of their competitors are reading this thread.

agennaro · 28/09/2018 19:05

Just spoke to a guy to follow up from my message I sent on Wednesday. I was put on hold for a while and then he informed me, that as I could imagine there was rather a lot going on with regards to this, and could he get a member of the team that is working on this to call me.
I so hope they redeem themselves but am not hopeful. I much prefer Ocado so it will be a pain in the ass to change, and I will miss my reviewer freebies. I feel so frustrated and helpless with the current situation that I will cancel.

TalkingintheDark · 28/09/2018 19:06

Birdseyes Grin

Have just finalised the Waitrose order to replace the Ocado one I cancelled.

Just wish the Waitrose website wasn’t so clunky compared to th Ocado app! Someone mentioned a Waitrose app but I couldn’t find it - does it exist?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 19:08

They can't really 'redeem' themselves as it's been so long and it's not as if they don't have the money or team to work out a solution.

Procrastinator1 · 28/09/2018 19:09

Primesight seem to have got out of this quite cheaply.

pennydrew · 28/09/2018 19:12

Woker- the Waitrose delivery guy mentioned he was listening to LBC re trans and he couldn’t believe what they were trying to say! He said ‘ it was crazy talk’ and he too didn’t care what people ‘felt’ like or dressed like but please stop with the nonsense. It was very funny.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 19:18

Did they ring back? Did they fuck. Wankers

RepealtheGRA · 28/09/2018 19:19

Is their new solution to pay people to post shit like this? Hmm

Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action
agennaro · 28/09/2018 19:21

I know I will have to cancel, clutching at straws!

Knicknackpaddyflak · 28/09/2018 19:34

I've had the same standard email from Millie. Have responded pointing out (as have many)

  • why are you apologising in private to women where you acted publicly against them - however accidentally?
  • uhm, the Equality Act protects sex, you may want to act within the law. And yes, I see again what you think of women.
  • yeah you can still cancel my account, I won't use a company that supports anti women activism.
