Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

PerverseConverse · 25/09/2018 21:59

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

They probably won't reply to the Trust Pilot reviews.

I would imagine either the board or their legal department have said not to 'engage' in case someone makes the wrong comment (again) and gets them into a bigger hole. Most organisations like this handle it through someone higher up the food chain than the average customer service person (no offence to a customer service person!) and they'll choose their words very carefully (or should). They could also be sticking their fingers in their ears and going la la la hoping it'll all go away.

Just said to my DH this could be their Ratner moment...why do I feel so gleeful about that. Could be one of those management training DVDs in years to come 'how to alienate your customer base in half a dozen sentences'!

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 28/09/2018 16:36

Yesterday, Ocado were ranked 37 out of 38 supermarkets. Today, they are ranked 28 out of 38. Plus, a big drop in TrustPilot ratings.

Yet, they still fail to acknowledge that they screwed up.

Poor show, Ocado. Poor show.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 28/09/2018 16:37

It will make a great case study for a marketing course: how not to use social media.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/09/2018 16:44

If there number 28 now that’s higher than 37?

StayOutOfTheForrest · 28/09/2018 16:45

I got the call apologising and saying it had been one young man who tweeted.
Apparently he thought he had been doing the right thing but he is now very upset at what he inadvertently had done.
It has now been removed, it does not represent Ocado’s values, and they were sorry, and that they were wrong.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 28/09/2018 16:46

Oops. I meant 28 out of 37. Thanks for catching that!

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 28/09/2018 16:46

Sigh. Let's try this again, shall we?

Yesterday, Ocado were ranked 27 out of 38. Today, they are ranked 28 out of 38.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 28/09/2018 16:48
Grin

There - they’re!

GladAllOver · 28/09/2018 16:54

It has now been removed, it does not represent Ocado’s values, and they were sorry, and that they were wrong.

But they don't want to admit it in public. Just another scripted "I'm sorry you're upset" non-apology.

How deep are Ocado going to dig this hole?

TimeLady · 28/09/2018 16:56

'Bad' rating currently @ 21%.

Let's see what it's like tomorrow. Wink

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 28/09/2018 16:57

Ocado, just tweet an apology already!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 17:00

dolorsit · 28/09/2018 17:07

This thread probably makes very interesting reading for Mumsnet advertisers.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 17:10

And students of PR and Marketing.

dolorsit · 28/09/2018 17:11

Indeed

colouringinpro · 28/09/2018 17:14

This thread and collective action is a little beacon of hope Smile

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 17:16

I think they have made a massive mis-step here and done it at exactly the point when this issue is starting to become better known about in the general public + women who have been following this issue & talking about it for a while have moved past trying to persuade / debate / logic etc and into just totally fucked off mode.

The recent stories around quite a few prominent activists turning out to be creep perves (who'd have thought???????? women can spot them a fucking mile off), ever increasing aggresive incursions into female only stuff, sports, prizes, awards etc increasingly going to even people who just put a frock on a couple of times a week, swim england and british gymastics forgetting to worry about the privacy and safeguading of school age girls, and finally GG saying" we had to choose between religions women and girls / women and girls who value their privacy and the right of people with cocks to go in with them if they feel like it, and we chose poeple with cocks, and this does not present and safeguarding issues because we are so woke we can't be fucked with basic safeguarding any more, or indeed following the law" was the last nail in the coffin.

I am ANGRY now and this is the first non - keyboard- warrior action I have taken.

Fuck this it STINKS it absaolutely REEKS of misogyny.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 17:17

Anyone comsidering it

Waitrose is easy and fine

Othersupermarkets are availabel

Suggestions around high street / supporting local farm services are great too

I like JL and afetr their recent results am happy to push some cash their way and away from Little Tim the misogynist and his mates.

GladAllOver · 28/09/2018 17:19

a manager is going to call me back before 7 apaprently

I trust you will tell him to make a proper apology onTwitter.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 28/09/2018 17:19

This thread and collective action is a little beacon of hope

The Equality and Human Rights Commission have also said they are helping to revise the Girl Guides policy, presumably becuase the current "put up and shut up" rule where in girls who are uncomfortable with Transgirls in showers are currently told to be reeducated about it rather than have privacy provided.

colouringinpro · 28/09/2018 17:23

Ooooooh that sounds like good news Captain!

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 28/09/2018 17:26

This thread and collective action is a little beacon of hope

It is beautiful to see. I think there are a number of organisations of all kinds who would benefit from a demonstration that women are prepared to vote with our feet in the face of this disrespectful misogynist bullshit.

pennydrew · 28/09/2018 17:32

Waitrose delivery this morning, since I cancelled this weeks Ocado. My driver was an older gentleman who said something about LBC and he couldn’t believe the crazy talk! Does anyone know what he’s talking about? He also said Ocado should have stayed ‘ the bloody hell out of it’ and yes, we should absolutely be able to tell everyone our thoughts on changes to laws. I might just stick with Waitrose 😬

pennydrew · 28/09/2018 17:32

Also no delivery charges at the usual cost of our groceries- £60+
