Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

PerverseConverse · 25/09/2018 21:59

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

I've just had Millie on the phone. She apparently really understands but can't comment.

I've cancelled.

MnerXX · 28/09/2018 19:47

Millie is very busy isn’t she? Shame she’s not actually doing anything constructive.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 28/09/2018 19:48

wow she gets around does Millie.

Wonder how many Millies that department has, or if she just has a team that identifies as Millie?

RepealtheGRA · 28/09/2018 19:49

I feel sorry for Millie, if I was her I’d get legal advice about what do about the fact I worked for a company that didn’t know what the Equalities Act was and wasn’t prepared to hold up my sex based rights.

Herja · 28/09/2018 19:52

I can't afford occado, so I can't boycot them. I spent all my treat money for the month on adult human female stickers instead...

Ocadodumped · 28/09/2018 19:54

I heard from Jenny, she will pass on my concerns and thoughts...

BirdseyesFrozen · 28/09/2018 19:55

Millie?
I've been waiting for "Laura" who was getting back to me within 24 hours.
Time's up Laura.

MotherofPearl · 28/09/2018 19:57

They tried ringing me in response to my email and left me a voicemail - and email - saying that they'd like to talk to me about it on the phone.

I've emailed back to ask for a written response or better yet, a public apology. And I've registered with Waitrose online. Grin

Juells · 28/09/2018 20:00

39 pages later I'm still struggling to understand why a company that relies on the purchasing power of women would choose for no good reason to trumpet about something that affects women. That tweet wasn't from some intern, no intern would be talking about whether or not the business would continue working with PrimeSight.

secretsciurusvulgaris · 28/09/2018 20:20

I am still receiving marketing emails from them even though I called yesterday morning to close my account. I had a live chat with Ruby who pasted the standard statement to which I responded that the offence was public therefore the apology should be too. Even the statement is clueless, just a part of it,

“If Ocado have inadvertently strayed into any social discussions around the Primesight billboards, this was not intentional” - if???

So either they have a very long queue of people wishing to close accounts or they are waiting to see if they really mean it. Apparently they are still processing my request and if I still wished to go ahead they would process it today.

Out of curiosity I asked her what my lifetime spend with them was, before I ended the call - and apparently they appreciate my feedback, lifetime spend was over £60,000 and they did hope I would reconsider.

Sadly not, first Waitrose delivery arrived safely this evening. Ocado’s values no longer align with mine.

I did screenshot the entire chat so have a record of my request for them to delete all of my information.

This thread is nearly full by the way......

BlackeyedSusan · 28/09/2018 20:26

has anyone been emailed after they have asked for data to be removed?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 20:30

Ok I called them and got told wait for manager again but had to ring off as was ages and had to go and do something else.

Now have an email from millie.

Poor fucking mille why are they getting her to do all this? Feels like men have caused a problem and pushed it onto a woman to sort it out as usual.

Mille this is not personal and I hope they are paying you overtime.

Always a woman sent in to placate isn't it. That is what you call sexism.

GladAllOver · 28/09/2018 20:34

They are hoping we don't really mean it.
What was that quote about "a woman scorned"?

FloraHiggins · 28/09/2018 20:34

A woman is thus:
“An adult human female”,
Ocado says no.

Juells · 28/09/2018 20:36

Ocado says no.

Be fair! It doesn't align with their values. Grin

joan12 · 28/09/2018 20:37

I have now sourced alternative delivery methods for everything I need. I'm not going to post my lifetime spend with Ocado because I am genuinely embarrassed by it. But my new system is in place and I won't be going back; I think the hard work bit is done.

Fools.

FloraHiggins · 28/09/2018 20:45

"An adult female."
Their values do not align.
Trustpilot plummets.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 28/09/2018 20:46

What was that quote about "a woman scorned"?

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

I'll also go with Kipling's The Female of the Species is More Deadly Than the Male.

AssassinatedBeauty · 28/09/2018 20:47

@TalkingintheDark the waitrose app is called Waitrose & Partners, this is the link for it:

Waitrose & Partners by Waitrose Limited

lostplot · 28/09/2018 20:57

Knicknack, that quote is even better if you shorten it - Hell hath no fury like a woman!

pennydrew · 28/09/2018 21:00

More alternatives, this is for bulk buying. I order steel cut oats ( pinhead ) regularly but I think a few other grains work out cheaper too

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 21:03

How many billboards over the years have women been confronted with that made them feel "unsafe"?

What about the one for ?jeans that was set up to look like a woman about to be gang raped?
What about the one that showed a woman who looked to be dead (also a fashion ad)?
What about the TFL one for getting cabs with a woman's screaming sobbing face pressed up against the window that was helpfully posted at the place I stood every day to catch the tube (strategic seat maximising position) in all it's 10 feet high glory?

What about all the things that men do all the time to make us feel unsafe and society says oh boys will be boys but share a cab, don't walk home on your own, watch your drink, don't get in the car etc etc essentially that we are prey? Yes we feel unsafe and that is how we are supposed to feel.

I had to have a chat with my DD the other day about what to do if / when weirdo men talk to you (I didn't frame it like that). She's 11 and walking to school on her own. This happened to me, to all my friends. The likes of Jess Bradley at the bus stop wanking away. It's a part of our lives. And society and the police and the courts and everything says- this is your lot. You need to learn to deal with it. Yes, from when you're 11.

Unsafe my arse.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 21:06

I listen to that space song sometimes (as opposed to reading kipling!)

The Female of the Species is More Deadly Than the Male

And every time I think
Wow fuck what a massive reversal
Men are good at that

Maybe I need to read the poem Grin

Jarveau · 28/09/2018 21:16

Very good points, NothingOnTellyAgain about the sheer volume of images and messages around us that are either intended to make us feel unsafe or are produced without any concern for how they'll make us feel. We're considered fair game, but if we speak out about it we're making a hysterical fuss and being shrill or unreasonable.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 21:19

I got Stacey. Do all the names rhyme?
