Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

I received a call this morning and was told straight away that my call was being recorded.

I got a similar script to everyone else and said that I wouldn't take any apology seriously until it was in writing - as the original tweet was so public. She said she would give my feedback to management.

TimIsHavingABadDay · 28/09/2018 14:39

I have had an email requesting my phone number too so they can talk to me regarding this. What have they been saying? is it worth me passing my number along or should I just reply saying that I want a public apology to all women?

Jarveau · 28/09/2018 14:43

I just had a call from a woman who pretty much said she’s been told to call to apologise and state that Ocado shouldn’t have said what it did. I asked about a public statement and she said that question would be passed on. Likewise ‘sex’ as protected characteristic. She sounded really fed up. I asked for my account and pass to be cancelled.

They’re not going public, are they?

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 28/09/2018 14:44

They’re not going public, are they?

Nope

GladAllOver · 28/09/2018 14:48

The only acceptable apology is one using the same medium as the original offence.

A few scripted words to individual complainants doesn't count.

enrichedatthegulags · 28/09/2018 15:00

I'm really shocked by how little they care about women.
I hope their stinky-sexist ship sinks. Soon.

If you are lurking or dallying about whether or not to continue using them - please have a think about who you want to be giving your money to, and remember we vote with our purse every time we make a purchase.

peachescariad · 28/09/2018 15:10

Trust Pilot score now 5.1....Grin

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 28/09/2018 15:11

What was it before this peach?

peachescariad · 28/09/2018 15:28

It was 5.2 about 3 hours ago....it makes for interesting reading.

Ocado have failed to respond to any reviews referencing the billboard/misogynists etc. ...only seem interested in responding to reviews about out of date chicken...Grin

PerverseConverse · 28/09/2018 15:29

I've posted my review on trustpilot too.

I'm another mostly lurker, but posting to say that I too have cancelled my 12 year Ocado account today. I waited to see if there would be a public response, but no, so I spoke with customer services to cancel (after they had ignored my email from 2 days ago).

The woman that I spoke with was very professional and said that they had been asked not to comment personally but to pass the comments on. I sympathised with her having to do this as it was not the fault of her or the other call staff but of the management. I explained that it was the lack of a public response to counter their public comment which had exacerbated the situation and shown what the management truly felt about their core customers.

It is somewhat inconvenient as I have relied on them for so long and have always been happy with the company and the staff that I encountered. But I will not go back whatever they do now. I have boycotted Nestle, mcdonalds etc since the 1980s and always choose companies and products that align with my values.

The upside is that I found out about a non-registered local organic farm yesterday after asking around, visited today, and will be collecting my large order of veg from them as of this week.

RepealtheGRA · 28/09/2018 15:38

OMG I’ve just read a review on trust pilot where the woman said the male call handler called her hysterical Shock

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 15:49

Trust pilot score was 5.6 (put of 10) yesterday before it really kicked off (so not as high as you mightve thought)

GulagsMyArse · 28/09/2018 15:51

Well organic farms are doing well out of this, good!!. Bet the farmers know the difference between male and female, yet to find any farmers having much luck milking a bull.

Fuck um, so appalling, no response to my email of yesterday morning, left a review for them on Trustpilot yesterday. there are no words for their handling of this.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 15:53

"OMG I’ve just read a review on trust pilot where the woman said the male call handler called her hysterical"

Uh-huh.

CrackpotsArePots · 28/09/2018 15:54

Glad

That is exactly what I said in my email after they tried to phone me

joan12 · 28/09/2018 15:55

I also got a call.

When newspapers make a correction it needs to be in the same part of the paper as the error. So if it was on the front page, the correction has to be on the front page.

Ocado made their statement publicly, on Twitter. The retraction needs to be equally public. This smacks of trying to placate the women who have complained.

My 10K+ yearly grocery/pet/household stuff budget will continue to be spent elsewhere.

Redkeyboard · 28/09/2018 15:59

£72K lifetime spend from just one customer cancelling in protest of their lack of support to women!

Ocado are handling this really badly. Once people sign up for free delivery from Waitrose why would they bother switching back?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/09/2018 16:04

I wonder who made the call to respond in this way? I bet they think that they are a shit hot poker player.

Redkeyboard · 28/09/2018 16:04

lol at this review:

You have ignored every single review from women on this issue yet reply to a man complaining about paper thin ham. What does that say about you as a company?

AncientLights · 28/09/2018 16:05

Never been an Ocado customer, certainly won't be one now, and have just spent a fun half hour reading all the recent comments on Trustpilot about and from adult female humans. Really lifting my spirits. Stick them where it hurts.

PerverseConverse · 28/09/2018 16:10

Redkeyboard that might have been me Grin

If Ocado lose a customer spending £100 a week that’s £5200 a year gone to Waitrose with no reason to return.

Lose 10 of those and that’s £52000 a year gone

Lose 100 it’s over half a million per year lost

Redkeyboard · 28/09/2018 16:11

Smile perverse
