Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

Called them, cancelled. Fuck off Ocado.
Any suggestions for replacement? Tesco? Sainsbury's?

littlbrowndog · 25/09/2018 22:57

It was the doctor Harrop who done it

See below. A tweet from tom Farr to the Harrop

"My name is @DrAdrianHarrop, and I've spent almost 10 years and thousands upon thousands of pounds training as a doctor. Watch me while I put my degree to good use and start a fight with a billboard".

redshoeblueshoe · 25/09/2018 22:57

Rose you list all the companies and we can check them out.
They want to dismiss 51% of the population
So that they can do cool.

Why do they spend money on advertising ?

In fact why is there even an advertising industry ?

Oh yeah

They want our business

And as women we are generally the ones who make that decision

So they should ignore us at their peril

BlackeyedSusan · 25/09/2018 22:57

really, they seem a bit, left hand end of the bell curve, given that 82% of customers ordering are adult human females.

littlbrowndog · 25/09/2018 22:58

And fuck of Ocado

RoseAndRose · 25/09/2018 22:59

Now I'm really confused.

Ocado are only continuing with Primesight becase the poster has gone. It's what they've published, and no-one seems to disbelieve them

Other companies are also continuing with Primesight.

Why boycott one, not all those continuing? Or boycott those who don't give a stuff about whether the poster is gone or not?

Or boycott Primesight's actual close partners?

AssassinatedBeauty · 25/09/2018 23:01

You boycott those companies then Rose, maybe publish a list and ask them via twitter what their stance is on this?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 25/09/2018 23:01

Ocado out their support for the taking down if the posters pdq. I've never seen a complaint be acted upon so quickly.

Katy75 · 25/09/2018 23:02

Have called and explained that as regular Ocado customers our family request a written response explaining why the statement that a woman is an adult human female does not align with Ocado’s values.

The very pleasant customer service assistant was a little bemused but said his colleague had received a similar call earlier this evening.

Will share the response if we get one.

Laniakea · 25/09/2018 23:03

because Ocado made a point - publicly - that they can only continue to work with primesight because the poster has gone. They are saying that they agree the posters were problematic (hate speech) & they are endorsing Harrop's position & I won't give them my money.

FlotSHAMnJetson · 25/09/2018 23:04
  1. I love Ocado
  2. I have no idea what billboard.
  3. What did it say?
  4. Was its removal a good or a bad thing?

I think I may have missed something in this conversation.

CGID · 25/09/2018 23:06

I've just cancelled. The woman on the end of the phone didn't seem surprised, knew exactly why I was cancelling, said she would pass it on and seemed apologetic.

Charliethefeminist · 25/09/2018 23:06

The billboard had the dictionary definition of woman on it. A man (probably lots of men, but they responded to one on twitter) complained that it was transphobic, so Primesight took it down. Ocado has supported Primesight and said it will now continue to use their billboards.

PerverseConverse · 25/09/2018 23:06

FlotSHAMnJetson where have you been the last few days?? I can't post any more pictures today and too tired to search and post links but a quick search of "billboard" should answer your question along with reading this thread.

Charliethefeminist · 25/09/2018 23:08

Cunning: not Morrisons. Ocado have their delivery contract.

Charliethefeminist · 25/09/2018 23:09

So we should boycott Morrisons delivery too.

CGID · 25/09/2018 23:10

God I'm gutted. I have spent about £200 a week with Ocado, have used them for 9 years and find them brilliant. Too bad.

IAmLurkacus · 25/09/2018 23:10

Can I not shop at Morrison’s any more either?

RoseAndRose · 25/09/2018 23:12

I'm not the one calling for a boycott, so why should I be the one to provide a list of all clients? Shouldn't the organisers be doing that, so they can clearly demonstrate why, out of all the clients, this is the one beyond the pale? I thought I was asking a question which wouid have a straightforward and clear answer, but it seems that there isn't an answer at all.

It really isn't clear why Ocado, who said they're OK with Primesight because the ad is gone is somehow supporting the ad. And perhaps it needs to be.

Charliethefeminist · 25/09/2018 23:14

It's perfectly clear Confused though I suppose it is nearly bedtime and you might be tired.

No don't have to boycott Morrisons just their delivery.

IAmLurkacus · 25/09/2018 23:16

OCADO aren’t supporting WOMEN. They are in favour of removing a billboard that said Woman: Adult Human Female HTH

AsAProfessionalFekko · 25/09/2018 23:16

Jesus this has rocketed a certain outdoor advertising company's SEO! When I Googled them by name earlier they were hard to find, not they come up top ranking.

Shame it's mostly by people looking to complain.

AbsintheFriends · 25/09/2018 23:16

RoseandRose - I think that the confusion might be because you've misunderstood what they ad was? It was placed by standingforwomen. It was a feminist ad, in as much as it simply stated the dictionary definition of woman. 'Adult human female'. It was taken down because a male TRA claimed it was hate speech.

Ocado have supported Primesight removing it, and said because it has been removed they will continue to work with them.

IAmLurkacus · 25/09/2018 23:17

Charliethefeminist thanks
