He got 15 years. Is it enough?

And I would extend my monitoring scheme to lobby groups and special advisors etc.
And aswe know males are the biggest users of porn it might even up the sex inequality

NameChangedAgain18 · 18/09/2018 22:20

Any ideas how we could reform the check system to protect children?

The check system on its own is never going to be failsafe. That is why we have additional levels of safeguarding. And given how common CSE is, these need to be strengthened, not weakened. As others have said, you can educate yourself in the safeguarding threads in this forum.

CrackpotsArePots · 18/09/2018 22:22

Yes, lobby groups, charities, special advisors, politicians

MIdgebabe · 18/09/2018 22:23

So you think that NO transperson anywhere ever is a peodophile? Despite there being No evidence that transwomen commit sexual offences at a lower rate to men unfortunatly.

Also no evidence that men will not pretend to be transwomen. So whilst I believe that a transperson should have equivalent rights , opportunities, freedoms as any other member of society, I do not believe they should have rights that reduce the rights ( rights are not priveldged ) of any member of society. They should not be allowed to drive women out of society or existence. Nor should they be allowed to promote the concept of a gendered society as that is harmful to both women and men.

CrackpotsArePots · 18/09/2018 22:24

election agents, Scout leaders.

scepticalwoman · 18/09/2018 22:26

a brilliant idea to help protect children from this sort of evil man ?
Safeguarding, safeguarding and more safeguarding.
Prioritise children's right to safety (over the demands of adults). Tackle the horrendous statistics of sexual harassment and rape in schools. Weed out adults / groups in schools promoting age inappropriate ideologies and undermining children's boundaries in schools. Ban (and then sanction) organisations attempting to roll back safeguarding for children. Stop organisations from promoting parental alienation. Maintain sex segregated spaces (as the WHO recommends) for women and children to ensure safety, privacy and dignity.
That's just a start. Details of all these can be found on the many safeguarding threads on this board.

NotTerfNorCis · 18/09/2018 22:27

He thought that too! And look where he ended up!

He proved his own point.

seafret · 18/09/2018 22:28

I wasn't really going for the angle of generating sympathy toward pheasants Donna... more a condemnation of male predatory behaviour. I'm tired, perhaps I was too obtuse.

pombear · 18/09/2018 22:31

Male says 'keep males out of women and children's spaces'.
Male goes on to demonstrate why males should be kept out of women and children's spaces.

35 year old man in position of power arranged to pay a 17 year old boy for sexual favours and picked him up and drove him to a hotel. Man arrested before actual sexual contact took place (although nude photos had been exchanged in advance and intent to commit crime was there).

Man received 15 years in federal prison (all federal sentences have a mandatory minimum time served of 75%).

Is that a shorter than usual sentence for this type of crime? I don’t know much about US sentencing protocols but a UK ‘life sentence’ for murder is 16 years, as a comparison.

I hope the minor has now received appropriate, tailored support - I hate to think what kind of situation a 17 year old has to be in before being paid to have sex with a middle aged stranger via craigslist seems reasonable.

DukeOfSussex · 18/09/2018 22:32

Hmm donnabe.

Bloke held an unrelated opinion I don't likeTherefore all people who hold said unrelated opinion are paedophiles!Funny how this logic is fine when trans people are on the receiving end of it. But not when it connects transphobes with chikdcsex traffickers.

But we aren't trans phobic. Transphobia is bad. It would be unsurprising to think that someone who is transphobic or homophobic or misogynist would do a bad thing. If Germaine Greer had been the one caught trafficking children, I guess you'd have a point? though it still wouldn't show a pattern of radical feminist violence as it would be a one off.

CrackpotsArePots · 18/09/2018 22:34

pombear

Yes

DukeOfSussex · 18/09/2018 22:34

Donna if this lovely man admitted that it was his own self loathing that made him vote against trans "rights" to use the bathroom of their choice because he is actually trans would you then support his move to a female prison?

DonnaBe · 18/09/2018 22:35

Midgebabe

So you think that NO transperson anywhere ever is a peodophile? Despite there being No evidence that transwomen commit sexual offences at a lower rate to men unfortunatly.

I’ve never come across one. Why is it relevant to introduce trans people to this discussion? Why not Australians or plumbers?

I’m sure if there were one, nobody could reasonably suggest that it meant all trans people were paedophiles. Except on Mumsnet that is.

bless

You keep trying don't you lovey?

and all those threads to keep up with

DukeOfSussex · 18/09/2018 22:37

No one is currently trying to make allowances for Australian men and male plumbers to have unlimited access to women's locker rooms and prisons.

CrackpotsArePots · 18/09/2018 22:38

FILL YOUR BOOTS

MIdgebabe · 18/09/2018 22:40

We...you introduced the trans aspect.

I am glad you have never met a transwomen Peodophile

I think I haven't either.

Nevertheless I think you will find there are some in British jails already. In fact, wasn't there something about such a person being moved to a petebrough women's prison on a thread earlier today? ( I have not checked th validity of that thread)

DonnaBe · 18/09/2018 22:40

DukeofSussex

female prison

I’d hope the US prison service has procedures for deciding where to put this man.

He’s not trans. If he were, there’d have to be some kind of intersectional analysis weighing up the competing factors. I’d vote for the filthiest male prison possible.

That rapist Karen White!? Should never have been in a women’s prison.
Arguably shes trans. But also a rapist. Two things going on. The rape history outweighs the trans argument for me.

birdsdestiny · 18/09/2018 22:42

I would guess Australian men and male plumbers are fine with being excluded from women's spaces by the way. They dont think this means we think they are all paedophiles.

CrackpotsArePots · 18/09/2018 22:44

Yes, funnily enough, my husband has no qualms about being excluded from sex-segregated spaces. He doesn't take it personally Smile

ABitCrapper · 18/09/2018 22:45

I’ve never come across one. - Karen White aka DavidThompson aka Stephen Wood?

Ereshkigal · 18/09/2018 22:46

Pretty sure there have been news stories about at least two separate MTF paedophiles in UK women's prisons in the last couple of weeks. Not seen those Donna?

But again, of course that doesn't mean that all MTFs are paedophiles. And no one has said that it does.

Noqont · 18/09/2018 22:47

Oh well, another pervert man. There's plenty of them. What are your thoughts on protecting children from people like this op?

Ereshkigal · 18/09/2018 22:50

Arguably shes trans. But also a rapist.

And a paedophile. Why are you minimising Karen's gender identity btw? What makes it different to anyone else's?
