As we thought, Bercow does indeed have connections with LGBT lobbying groups - he is president of the Kaleidoscope Trust

Bercow is E Lord’s old friend according to the gallery page on Edward’s web-site.

Yes, that one. Wonder when and where they met.

R0wantrees · 15/09/2018 17:40

Yes, that one. Wonder when and where they met.

Indeed, Im sure there must be many possibilities.

VickyEadie · 15/09/2018 17:45

Surely some investigative journalist should be looking into these links?

Viago · 15/09/2018 18:16

Lang Is bewilderness gone?

CrackpotsArePots · 15/09/2018 18:17

Did bewilderness go in the SC debacle?

LangCleg · 15/09/2018 18:19

Pretty sure she has left, yes.

OlennasWimple · 15/09/2018 18:39

Oh Sad

I hope bewilderness is lurking so I can say that she will be sorely missed around here

Viago · 15/09/2018 18:45

That's a real shame. I was thinking of her re Ariana Grande being blamed for her ex-boyfriend's death, only I couldn't remember which number rule of misogyny it was.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/09/2018 18:51

That's such a shame. She was a fixture around here. Sad

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 15/09/2018 18:55

Oh no Sad

scepticalwoman · 15/09/2018 18:57

Another ethical poster gone. Sad

LurkingWaspi · 15/09/2018 18:57

I'm very grateful to Bewilderness, and all here (or now active elsewhere.)You are all incredible women. Thank you.

Cismyfatarse1 · 15/09/2018 19:20

I have just sent Bercow a postcard (I used Touch Note app) with this message.

Kirkup "Why did John Bercow refuse to let MPs debate the state-sponsored abuse of women? I have no idea and his office told me they never give a reason for the rejection of a UQ. He is, of course, meant to be a wholly neutral figure who discharges his duties as Speaker even-handedly and without bias to any cause or campaign. I have no reason to think he did otherwise on this occasion. "

And I was able to find a suitable image online.

Should make sure he sees his bias is being noted. Lots of us did this last time.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 15/09/2018 20:16

What happened to Bewilderness?? Her posts are brilliant. She'll be very much missed. Sad

FermatsTheorem · 15/09/2018 20:20

In honour of the Bewilderness, whose posts will be greatly missed:

1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.

2nd rule of misogyny: Women saying no to men is a hate crime.

3rd rule of misogyny: Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.

4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.

5th rule of misogyny: WATM! Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.

6th rule of misogyny: Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breast feeding babies deserve punishment.

7th rule of misogyny: Women should always be grateful to men for everything.

8th rule of misogyny: Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.

9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say.

10th rule of misogyny: The worst thing about male violence is that it males men look bad.

11th rule of misogyny: Basic pattern recognition skills are cruel and evil when they hurt men's feelings.

12th rule of misogyny: whatever women suffer from, men suffer from more.

13th rule of misogyny: Women are not oppressed! Rape and catcalling and objectification are all compliments, not oppression.

14th rule of misogyny: Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent.

Looks like she can still be followed on Twitter

partystress · 16/09/2018 10:29

Who do we write to to get this overturned? There have been UQs on the closure of branches of M&S and the fire at the Glasgow School of Art ffs. Is it Kathryn Stone, commissioner for standards, or someone else? Bercow is going to find out his blatant bias is something up with which I will not put.

OlennasWimple · 16/09/2018 13:17

It's not possible to get the Speaker's decision overturned. All that MPs can do is continue to press for a UQ (which becomes less compelling the more time that goes by, as they are supposed to be about topical issues that couldn't reasonably be foreseen for questions to be asked in the normal way) or table Written Questions or Oral Questions. Or use time at Prime Minister's Questions if any of them get allocated space in the ballot (I'm assuming here that the Opposition won't bring it up....)

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 16/09/2018 21:47

It's getting to the point where I'm gonna stick "thank you James Kirkup for another brilliant article" into my clipboard (along with "I agree with datun" Grin )

Procrastinator1 · 17/09/2018 01:24

Bit hazy about this. Can an urgent question about the man held in a Scottish women’s prison be asked in the Scottish Parliament?
Might put the English one to shame.

alexpolistigers · 17/09/2018 06:03

Perhaps we cannot get the question back into Parliament.
But can we campaign against Bercow? He is clearly not impartial, and therefore not fit for office.
