TRAs going after MN sponsors- BirdsEye

A few weeks ago I read about a plan to target MN sponsors in order to shut us down. Looks like it is starting with Birdseye. Anyone fancy going over and saying their bit?

TRAs going after MN sponsors- BirdsEye

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/09/2018 13:11

I don't do twatter, but BUMP.

bzzbeebzz · 12/09/2018 13:16

I think the mainstream media would like to know about this, especially in light of the NatachaK story, it’s just more attempted silencing of women, nothing else.

arranfan · 12/09/2018 13:19

On another thread drradfem is appealing for the screenshot of the last like BirdsEye was under siege like this : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3362227-potato

Apparently, there's a screen shot of TRAs contacting or @'ing BirdsEyeUK and the BirdsEye response was uniformly potato (this seems to be a reference to a game that I don't understand).

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 15:47

Oh gosh i dont do twitter either

We buy a lot of birds eye stuff

Dh is particularly enamored with the battered fish

Happy to email...do you think that will work

Do you have a link to your twitter thingy

I could look for it but it seems to take me ages

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/09/2018 15:53

you lot talked me out of waitrose frozen peas and into Birdseye ones on the previous 'TRA's targetting advertisers' thread

am I going to end up buying blinking potato waffles after this one?

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 15:57

I do hope Birds Eye continue to tell these nutters to fuck off.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 15:57

Oh the potato waffles are like manna from heaven

In fact if they serve them in heaven then ive changed my mind about not going there

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 15:58

Potato waffles are nasty.

I do enjoy their fish fingers, frozen veg, etc, however.

IAmSproutycus · 12/09/2018 15:58

Right then. Waffles and custard it is. Not together, obvs. Children will be thrilled.

arranfan · 12/09/2018 15:59

From looking at BEUK Twitter, I learned that their potato waffles are gluten-free - should that ever be relevant to anyone.

I'm still miffed there's no sign of BEUK taking up my previous helpful suggestion (on a MN thread) that they should approach Novelli for the glorious smoked mash he did for Findus.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/09/2018 15:59

is birds custard from birdseye??

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 16:00

Right then. Waffles and custard it is. Not together, obvs. Children will be thrilled.

But if you put bananas in that custard I shall report you to social services.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 16:00

vicky

Hmm

You can go off a person you know...

I like battered fishfingers

Wait...are we allowed to discuss food, or are we ok cos its on the right thread

OvaHere · 12/09/2018 16:17

Sainsburys have offers on a range of Birds Eye products this week. I know this because my freezer is full of them.

Like the majority of Mums I've done the majority of grocery shopping for the last 20 years. Birds Eye probably should reflect on that if they feel at all tempted to have knee jerk reaction to shouty TRAs.

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 16:19

Wait...are we allowed to discuss food, or are we ok cos its on the right thread

I assumed that as this is a BirdsEye related thread, we were fine (also, they sponsor MN and MN would surely like to please them via us raving about their excellent products?).

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 16:22

Oh thats a relief vicky

Its just i may have mentioned avocado on the other thread

And yes

BIRDS EYE WE LOVE YOU!!

Well i do at any rate

Elephantinacravat · 12/09/2018 16:24

This thread has reminded me of 'Under Birds Eye' so thanks for that! Smile

vicviking · 12/09/2018 16:24

Shouty TRAs are overplay their hand and come across as extremists you wouldn't want to associate your brand with or piss off half your customers for. They are no longer a free pass wo wokeville. People are alot more critical of them due to more publicity about their bullying tactics.

OrchidInTheSun · 12/09/2018 16:25

TRAs have been doing this for weeks. Unfortunately our buying power is bigger than mimmymum's.

I spend about £10 a week on Bird's Eye food Blush

BreconBeBuggered · 12/09/2018 16:26

I only ever buy BirdsEye peas. In the pea department, obviously. Other grocery items may be found in my kitchen. We get through record-breaking quantities of peas though.

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 16:26

Can I share my concern here, however? For years, Captain Birdseye has brought out a huge tray piled high with fish fingers. They look cold to me and I have to say that cold fish fingers are not nice.

Also, Captain Birdseye seems to have changed his appearance over the 50+ years I've been seeing him...

JellySlice · 12/09/2018 16:27

Hey, BirdsEye, just thought I'd mention that my family of five, including a male long-distance runner and three ravenous teenagers, all love fish-fingers. How far d'you suppose a box goes? I'll tell you: not far at all. But that doesn't matter, because we just buy more. We buy a lot of fish-fingers.

✊potato

(We like potatoes, too Wink)

JellySlice · 12/09/2018 16:32

Vicky you haven't lived. A sandwich made with room temperature fishfingers - cooked, obviously - and lashings of ketchup/mayo/tartare sauce in any combination is lush. One of my dc's favourite packed lunches.

(Another reason why one box doesn't go far in JellyHouse.)

Fridging cooked fishfingers makes them hard and shrivelledy and unappetising.

BrendasUmbrella · 12/09/2018 16:34

And I go to add a packet of fishfingers to the weekly shop...

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 16:34

JellySlice

Nooooooo! Fishfingers in a fishfinger sandwich must be hot!
