A few weeks ago I read about a plan to target MN sponsors in order to shut us down. Looks like it is starting with Birdseye. Anyone fancy going over and saying their bit?

birds eye omega three fishfingers are not much more than own brand if bought on offer in bulk.

liverbird79 · 13/09/2018 23:41

I used to work on the Birdseye customer care line

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 14/09/2018 11:51

I used to work on the Birdseye customer care line

come on, you must have some juicy (or fishy finger) stories?

liverbird79 · 14/09/2018 12:53

Not really lol it was mostly people ringing up because there was a fish finger missing or extra and it had caused murder at tea trying to split them easily.

Or people absolutely losing their shit because there was a caterpillar or slug in the peas. Well yeah they are grown properly outside so although every care is taken to ensure they are all removed out of how many million peas then the odd one will slip through. What with them growing outside and all.

Melamin · 14/09/2018 13:07

No trans phobic fish fingers then?

AlexanderHamilton · 14/09/2018 13:11

There appears to be a lot of Biffers obsessed with halal chicken dippers on their twitter

CigarsofthePharoahs · 14/09/2018 14:35

The last Birdseye thread had me buying Birdseye chicken nuggets and breaded chicken fillets.
They were very nice and will be bought again. And again and again...

Potato!

Tanith · 14/09/2018 15:42

Dear TRAs, your family and friends might pat you on the head and keep their faces straight as they promise faithfully they’ll never buy Birds Eye again, but I bet they’ll have their fingers firmly crossed behind their backs!

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 14/09/2018 15:49

Off topic, but I once rang the customer care line for some Sainsbury's bath stuff I bought.

I told the woman who answered that the stuff was glorious - smell, texture, colour, everything - and if someone had changed the packaging and claimed it cost 10 times the price I'd have believed them

The woman was so pleased. She said the person in charge of that product would be thrilled and how much they appreciated my feedback. Apparently no one ever rings with praise. I think people, including me, should do it more often.

BirdseyesFrozen · 16/10/2018 14:29

I've loved Birds Eye ever since I was a little girl.
Back in the early 60's, they gave a Miss Gilbert a top job. First ever woman to do it.
Why?
Because she was the best person. An adult human female, who knocked spots off the other applicants.
(It must be on file still, somewhere, Birds Eye - check it out) Grin

May she rest in peas. A legend.

Lamaha · 13/03/2019 03:19

I discovered this thread due to the current MN-is-closing thread and I need to add my voice/ask for your advice.

What can Birdseye offer a 67-year-old woman and grandmother who lives alone, having raised two children, and is mostly vegetarian but will eat fish???

GrinitchSpinach · 13/03/2019 03:31

The petits pois are really very good. Small and sweet, as they should be. I can find no substitute for them since I moved away from the UK. Just big starchy awful normal peas here on American shores it seems. Grin

groundcontroltomontydon · 13/03/2019 06:25

The peas and sweetcorn mix is great in risotto

RepealTheGRA · 13/03/2019 06:28

Lamaha

They do lots of different frozen veg and rices that can be microwaved in individual bags.

Also frozen breakfast waffles and pancakes that can be taken out one at a time and popped in the toaster, if that’s your thing.

I promise I am not a Birdseye plant paid by their marketing dept. Grin

Terfnserf · 13/03/2019 07:18

My oh bought non Birds eye peas once and they were vile, there is NO substitute for the real thing. Birdseye always top quality product. Good tip 're peas and sweet corn, will get some

Babieseverywhere · 13/03/2019 07:27

I know this is an old thread.

But @GulagMilkMonitor I NEED to know a how to make burgers out of the chick peas mix which I thought was only for curries!

Please can I have a recipe ?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/03/2019 07:42

Lamaha they recently brought in 3 different frozen pulse and vegetable mixes that are very, very useful. I bought two bags of the Mexican bean one the other day. The cauliflower and chickpea one is great for a quick veg curry.

glenthebattleostrich · 13/03/2019 07:45

Potato waffles are food of the gods

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 13/03/2019 07:58

babies if you get a recipe can you pass it to me as well please

AuntieCJ · 13/03/2019 08:02

As if Birds Eye will care about the whines of such a tiny minority.

MillytantForceit · 13/03/2019 09:34

...And there really was a Clarence Frank Birdseye the second who invented frozen fish.

(But he wasn't a real captain)

TowelNumber42 · 13/03/2019 09:46

Gluten free potato waffles made in the toaster are my children's favourite snack. One son fondly remembers the day I showed him how to toast them and authorised him to snack on them at will if not too close to dinner time. Oh the joy on his little face. It is scary how many waffles we go through.

BettyDuMonde · 13/03/2019 10:01

Waffles in the toaster is one of my favourite things ever - but I am a notoriously bad/lazy cook.

Babieseverywhere · 13/03/2019 14:15

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer Will do. I can't eat normal veg burgers, they all have onions and garlic in them :(

Iggypoppie · 14/03/2019 07:58

This does indeed look great www.birdseye.co.uk/products/chickpea-and-spinach-mix
