A few weeks ago I read about a plan to target MN sponsors in order to shut us down. Looks like it is starting with Birdseye. Anyone fancy going over and saying their bit?

I like the way that BirdsEyeUK Twitter people seem genuinely sorry to report that a customer's favourite dish/ingredient is no longer available due to disappointing sales.

Hi, unfortunately they have been discontinued due to low demand 😕 . However, have you tried our Cod, Chips & Peas dinner? It is very tasty! Check out the link here

Apologies but the King Prawns in Chilli Sauce have been discontinued. Apologies for any inconvenience.

This all kicked off back in July, and Birds Eye studiously ignored the howls of the trans-activists. Apart from the famed "Potato" tweet. T'was glorious. Hope they don't capitulate.

Oh so do I. My freezer's been filled with very little but Birds Eye products since the "potato" tweet. Loyalty breeds loyalty after all Brew

Ereshkigal · 13/09/2018 00:09

Their potato waffles are also in a different league to every own-brand I've tried.

Agree.

StormyDaniels · 13/09/2018 00:11

Thing is, now I'm worried that the TRAs will invent some sexual activity using fish fingers and tweet about it, probably with photos/videos of themselves doing it as they seem very into self porn. And thus increase the TRA market of Birds Eye products...

StormyDaniels · 13/09/2018 00:12

^ and now you're all going to tell me that Birds Eye product porn is already a category on Pornhub aren't you?

inquiquotiokixul · 13/09/2018 00:27

Bird's-eye stuff is great.

Someone upthread suggested boycotting them one day a week - what an utterly terrible idea.

Rather, we should declare one day a week to be birdseye-only and make extra effort to make increased purchases of birdseye on one specific day of the week.

ToeToToe · 13/09/2018 00:36

I wouldn't be surprised, StormyDaniels. The mind boggles.

Now, tell us about Donny & those sharks. Was frozen fish involved? Grin

GulagMilkMonitor · 13/09/2018 01:18

Where does one get these birds eye pulse mixtures? Never seen them. Maybe the big Asda will have them.

Morrison’s. Certainly online anyway.

napmeistergeneral · 13/09/2018 02:16

Just want to add my name to the chorus; recently bought Birds Eyes instead of own brand in support...oh, hello zip-lock bag! No looking back for me...I two sons, both large babies, both big eaters, both of whom will get bigger and hungrier for the next 15-odd years.

StunninBravepen · 13/09/2018 05:36

Birds Eyes waffles yum

arranfan · 13/09/2018 10:08

People here should know that courtesy of the number of sticky beaks and shoulder surfers in this house, the freezer stocks of Birds Eye products was heavily depleted for hearty breakfasts this morning.

And somebody is creating a ghastly ear worm of, There's A Whole Lot of Lovin' around BirdsEye (the scansion is wretched).

StormyDaniels · 13/09/2018 10:16

Toe Wink Grin

AlexanderHamilton · 13/09/2018 10:24

Over the years I've tried many, many brands of fish fingers.

Birds Eye win every time. I don''t bother with other brand now.

MipMipMip · 13/09/2018 10:45

Waffles beans bacon and eggs tonight in this household. Thank you got inspiring me ladies and thank you for making potatoey goodness Birds Eye.

MipMipMip · 13/09/2018 10:47

Also, Captain Birdseye seems to have changed his appearance over the 50+ years I've been seeing him...

I liked it when he identified like this. Wrong, obviously, but who's complaining?!

Potato tweet??

CesiraAndEnrico · 13/09/2018 13:17

MipMipMip

Ohhhhhhhhhhh Captain, my Captain... and all that jazz.

I say. That's not what he looked like when I was a kid.

Hurrah for Dr Who style regeneration of brand icon.

Bearsinmotion · 13/09/2018 13:45

We do eat our way through a huge amount of waffles, fish fingers and peas, but those bean mixes look amazing. Thanks Mumsnet and Birds eye!

BingBongSong · 13/09/2018 13:51

Just bought two boxes of waffles for £1 each. Dc have recently discovered them and the smallest one asks for them every week now!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 13/09/2018 13:58

Potato tweet

I don't get it either. I looked it up and found something about someone who found a spider in a potato thingy.

KingLooieCatz · 13/09/2018 14:46

Mr LooieCatz does most of the shopping, but he's on the same page as me as regards the trans agenda, and coincidentally he has recently been excited to discover the great value to be had in the frozen foods section. We tend to be own brand buyers but could push the boat in solidarity.

This chickpea mix - is it a freezer food? It sounds right up my street. I was wondering what to do for lunch on Saturday.

If freezer I don't think they have it at little Waitrose over the road from home so I'll have to scour big Morrison's over the road from work.

Please help!

KingLooieCatz · 13/09/2018 14:51

Stop the bus, found it on their website, then went on their twitter, V. interested in the veggie bowls. Glad it all came to light.

arranfan · 13/09/2018 14:51

KingLooieCatz www.birdseye.co.uk/products/chickpea-and-spinach-mix

It's frozen and BE offers very good recipes for it (e.g, the curry one).

KingLooieCatz · 13/09/2018 14:53

Cheers @Arranfan

Juells · 13/09/2018 14:59

Birds Eye cod fish fingers for me, too. I've occasionally bought own-brand but the fish inside shrinks when cooking and the coating is left like a half-deflated balloon :(
