I have no words

It's not the original comment that affects me it's the comments section. I thought female erasure was a metaphor - not literal reality.

To think these campaigners are driving public policy. The comments section is truly terrifying.

The trolling thing actually makes a little sense.
Lily had a picture up the other day, which appears to now be gone (quelle surprise) which had a copy of the handmaids tale and 1984 in the background, the ironic placement of the books made me laugh, but maybe lily is just actually a huge troll, of epic proportions!

boatyardblues · 12/09/2018 07:16

I especially liked the bit about reintroducing dodos, RTB. In a post-Brexit food scarcity scenario I quite fancy my chances of catching one & I doubt I’d be alone. It might be a short lived initiative (hunted to extinction again) but I really like that you’re prepared to give it a try. Star

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 12/09/2018 07:28

LM puts bollocks on twitter for people on here to find so that LM can say 'OMG they can't leave me alone'.

NameChangedAgain18 · 12/09/2018 07:36

When can we expect free NHS womb transplants for 'trans' men to be an official Labour policy?

That would actually be great. It would be easy enough to get the leadership to swallow it, just tell Dawn Butler, Angela Raynor, et. al. that they are being transphobic if they don't (and, let's face it, they're too stupid to realise it's not possible). Such a policy would bring this whole issue to light with the general public and peak trans millions of people in one fell swoop.

Poppyred85 · 12/09/2018 07:56

Haven’t rtft yet but read the Twitter ink. They can just fuck right off. The appropriation of women’s bodies is vile. As a woman whose choices regarding children have been removed because of severe complications in my first pregnancy (which modern medicine still can’t treat effectively) this is so upsetting and offensive. Their complete lack of empathy while not unexpected just adds to that.

RedToothBrush · 12/09/2018 07:58

LM puts bollocks on twitter for people on here to find so that LM can say 'OMG they can't leave me alone'.

Lily even pretty much admits it.

Lily is busy reading through all the comments here, cos Lily LOVES us. I mean that sincerely, because without the attention Lily would just be...

... Well nobody.

Being trans makes Lily feel special and important. It gives celeb status. Lily has to troll every time their twitter analytics data is down.

It's an addiction.

kaldefotter · 12/09/2018 07:59

Lily’s been maintaining this delusion for some time, having posted back in December about the ability to get pregnant. Apparently, “women’s cycles” mean lots of women can’t get pregnant right now, and since Lily also can’t get pregnant right now, this means that Lily is just the same as other women. It’s quite a sad state of affairs, really.

And on the biology front, while there might be space for a small non gravid uterus there isn’t for a term pregnancy. And that’s before we even get on to blood supply, ligamentous support, nerve supply, tissue rejection, immunosuppressive drugs, graft vs host disease and endocrinology.

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/09/2018 08:05

Well they are not the only one with no idea about biology ..that woke bloke from the green party who believes men get periods...

consternation · 12/09/2018 08:05

This is clearly 'if I won the lottery' type talk. It's biologically impossible and a non starter. I do think the Labour Party should take a great deal of responsibility for giving Lily a platform. It's unkind to allow them to humiliate themselves repeatedly. I wonder if this womb transplant nonsense is connected to them taking HRT? Presumably if a man capable of fathering a child starts taking HRT that would change their fertility? I don't know how that works?

ScreamingBird · 12/09/2018 08:43

The husband immediately suggested brain transplants too. He reckoned that the rich guys who want the girl bodies would (in case such an operation was successful) would find that the man's bodies got to keep all the money that the guys have, cos misogyny, so it would be an ideal asset transfer from said men to mentally troubled young women.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 08:54

When I'm prime minister we are renaming the days of the week after cartoon characters, making ground hog day 'a thing' in the uk, making a law banning fireworks being sold to the general public, ban letterboxes that impersonate women in burka, tax anyone with waffy buffon blonde wigs, reintroduce dodos into the wild, insist on exchange programmes for MPs to other constituencies weighted so rural go to urban and vice versa, insist that all TV news presenters pronounce grass GR-ASS not GR-ARSE and have a legal definition of women which is adult female human.

You've got my vote, Red.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 08:55

LM's twitter feed about getting pregnant made me laugh.

DodoPatrol · 12/09/2018 09:41

It doesn't make me laugh.

It's possible that Lily has simply believed everything Lily has been told.

Even if Lily is deliberately on a wind-up, other teenagers may read this stuff and believe they can genuinely switch sex and become pregnant 'because science, and you don't know everything, and it's not like Your Days, Mum'; or in the case of girls, believe they can become male and father babies; or at least think that it's OK to fool others into accepting a fake penis without informed consent (which I assume is what happened in the Delacruz case).

Anyone who's been on Things I Didn't Realise Till Embarrassingly Late threads knows that people can accept all sorts of guff unquestioningly, until that 'Wait - what?' moment.

DodoPatrol · 12/09/2018 09:42

That sounded snippy, Terf. This stuff is all a bit near home with some of the kids at DD's school at present, and any attempt at mentioning reality seems to be Instant Transphobia.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 12/09/2018 09:44

Frankly - this is a very unwell boy.

Nicknamesalltaken · 12/09/2018 09:47

As a Labour Party woman’s Officer, someone really needs to step in and have a word with LM.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 12/09/2018 09:50

in fact he makes me feel sick, sitting around in a short skirt with his stringy boysie legs stuck out like he is sexy or something. because that is what women do right? sit around in miniskirts being sexy?

Labour is a joke. This combined with the anti Semitism thing is gonna be their downfall. How can you take them seriously as politicians?

Bluecloudyskies · 12/09/2018 09:56

They have got serious MH problems. If I was his family I’d be really concerned.

sorenipples · 12/09/2018 09:58

I suspect LM is getting material for whatever she is doing in LA at the moment.

There was a strange tweet about people knowing her gender. Which I read in a way that seems very mature and self aware and not how the supportive twitter follower comments take it. It seems deliberate to goad gender critical posters to make reference to her biological sex.

Descent · 12/09/2018 10:03

Perhaps Lily should have hit the books a little more often at school instead of being fixated on what clothes to wear. What an absolute dunderhead!

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 10:54

That sounded snippy, Terf.

Not at all! You sounded exasperated and I understand completely.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 12/09/2018 10:59

Labour doesn’t care 🤷‍♀️
All lily has done is expose how little the party cares for the women’s officer role. If it had any respect or status within the party they would never tolerate lily being in place.

Vegeetas · 12/09/2018 12:47

My wife pointed this at me last night, now I am nothing close to a scientist but even a moron can follow the problems with this twit and the theories.

1 - The article was from Nov 2017 - There has been no updates whatsoever. Having actually read the article, it says it might be possible but is highly irresponsible.

2 - Having done some very basic reading the, "reciever" of the womb would need to have constant HRT to allow the correct nutrition and connections to work, they would need constant immunisuppressants so their body doesn't reject the womb, they would need constant medical supervision and possibly a hermetically sealed environment as the strength of the immunosuppressant would mean that a common cold would be very bad indeed, anything worse possibly life threatening.

3 - All of item 2 make one hell of a nasty cocktail for the potential baby - at best if it survived it would be sick forever pretty much - (as you already know) lots of beneficial antibodies etc are passed on from mother to baby, this would NOT happen in this case.

You actually have to be a total f**knut job to think this is in any way eithically or scientifically viable and what about the baby ffs?

I think back in 2015/16 the NHS trialed womb transplants from donor card holders into 6 women as a trial and I haven't actually read anything about success / failiure.

If you read the comments from some of the total nutters who have replied on the thread, you have biological women basically offering to give their wombs up to these "female" pretenders. What is going on with the world?

When did science become so evil to people that we could just ignore it and write it off if it doesn't fit the narrative?

Lancelottie · 12/09/2018 13:03

There has apparently been one live birth following a uterine transplant - notably, to a woman with an otherwise functioning reproductive system and her own ovaries, so nothing like the challenge of somehow connecting a female organ into a male body. It was reported in the Lancet a few years ago. I think so far she's the only one, and she's female, so anyone dangling this as a prospect in front of dim or desperate male teenagers is being stupidly irresponsible.
