BBC article: 'Transgender inmate admits Wakefield jail sex offences'
"A transgender prisoner has admitted sexually assaulting inmates at a women's jail.

Karen White, 51, who was born male but now identifies as a woman, has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual touching at New Hall Prison, Wakefield.

The offences took place between September and November last year. She has since been moved to a male prison.

Details emerged when White appeared at Leeds Crown Court to admit to a rape committed before she was jailed.

She previously admitted two further rape charges, which also happened outside prison.

White will be sentenced for all offences on 11 October."

Shows the lowering standards in our universities if one is letting the “womens’ officer “ in.
LM is 21 in January, so getting a bit old for the “poor little teenage me” rubbish.

Vickyyyy · 07/09/2018 16:01

How shocking that putting males in female prisons results in stuff like this. My flabber is gasted. Noone at all could have predicted such a result.

VickyEadie · 07/09/2018 16:29

Madigan has instead tweeted her intention to upload shots of her growing breasts to Instagram once Madigan commences hrt.

I need someone to explain this to me: wanting tits but not wanting to have their penis removed. Being a woman is about how they 'feel in their head', but they need tits. But need to keep their penis.

And it's definitely not a fetish.

WarmWishes · 07/09/2018 16:49

There's something very uncomfortable about instagramming your growing breasts. Even if they are growing on an adult body. Growing breasts are normally associated with pubescent girls, exposing them on instagram, just doesn't seem right. I'm not being a prude. It makes me feel really squeamish. Then there's the fact this person is supposed to be a public figure.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/09/2018 16:49

Fucking hell that article about Hudson: "I was forced into showing my breasts. It was a lot more violent. Girls show their emotions, they cry and they self harm, but males when they have got a problem, they just let it out with violence."

Oh I guess that would include you then Tara, given you were imprisoned for headbutting a barman Hmm

Dr Nic is going to be talking about Karen White on PM between 5 and 6pm on Radio 4 today

OrchidInTheSun · 07/09/2018 16:50

That didn't come out bold so I'm going to type it again

DR NIC IS GOING TO BE ON RADIO 4 BETWEEN 5 AND 6PM TODAY

Thank you :)

OldSchoolDa · 07/09/2018 16:58

Is it a requirement under the GRA to have your penis removed?

OrchidInTheSun · 07/09/2018 17:01

Do you mean having a Gender Recognition Certificate OldSchool? No it isn't. 80% of transwomen retain their penises.

OldSchoolDa · 07/09/2018 17:12

Yes. Do they explain why they still want to keep it? I imagine it's a painful, irreversable operation, but would be more comfortable ( though still not happy) with trans women sharing changing rooms with my wife and daughter if I knew they no longer had a penis.

Ekphrasis · 07/09/2018 17:29

It's on pm on radio 4 at the moment so about 20 mins into the programme.

Dr Nic on, well said Dr Nic!

OrchidInTheSun · 07/09/2018 17:51

I don't know why they want to keep their penises Old. I'd imagine they are quite attached to them. But you'd have to talk to them.

Dr Nic was great wasn't she?

Datun · 07/09/2018 18:16

OldSchoolDa

Some transwomen have gender dysphoria where they reject their male anatomy and masculinity. Others have a fetish called autogynephilia where the thought of presenting as as woman is arousing.

A penis is, presumably, entirely necessary in the second cohort, as they are also your male lesbian, i.e. attracted to women.

WarmWishes · 07/09/2018 18:22

Not sure if this has been answered already but I don't understand why, if sex is a protected characteristic and having a GRC gives access to the protected female sex's spaces why this person was able to usurp the law, given they didn't have a GRC?

Have I got it all wrong?

hackmum · 07/09/2018 18:22

I heard the last couple of minutes of the interview with Dr Nic, and she was very good. Thank god the BBC are covering it.

Datun · 07/09/2018 18:25

WarmWishes

A GRC gives automatic access. A non-GRC individual has to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Although, in this case, I don't think they were.

Apparently it's men who are already in prison who get assessed for transfer. This person was on remand, so wasn't already incarcerated, and for some reason skipped the assessment.

Although, I can't see how it's hard. He's a fucking rapist.

WarmWishes · 07/09/2018 18:27

Ok so you can agree to break or not apply the law on a case by case basis?

WarmWishes · 07/09/2018 18:28

I do hope someone represents those women and get justice. A precedent needs to be set.

UpstartCrow · 07/09/2018 18:30

Only if you are a biological male. Go figure.

deepwatersolo · 07/09/2018 19:25

I don't think it is so clear cut. Anne Lawrence is an autogynephile with sex reassignment surgery. She is a scientist (sexologist) doing research about autogynephilia, and has no qualms acknowledging her autogynephilia. She has also written about narcisstic rage in autogynephiles investigating some flabbergasting backlash of autogynephiles against some scientist who wrote a book about the condition. (Anne's is a scientific article with measured, scientific language, but she was still so brutal in that assessment, you could tell she was p*ssed at those nutcases).

I believe, whether you get surgery or not depends a lot on the amount of suffering that the presence of the penis causes (which seems to be very different in individuals). Also, the outcome is not always good (sensation, look) or complication free that many think twice.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 07/09/2018 19:25

Its the creep of assumption towards self ID being the 'right thing'. Someone's chosen identity to be respected.

The clearly stated goal in self ID is that ALL men who wish to self identify will be accommodated in the female estate without question, in all situations, no case by case assessment allowed.

MipMipMip · 07/09/2018 19:36

Anyone have a link to the Dr Nic interview? Cheers.

Ekphrasis · 07/09/2018 20:04

You might have to sign on to access it. Though it may not apply to radio. It should be available now.

AspieAndProud · 07/09/2018 20:12

Is that Alice Dreger's book, Galileo's Little Finger?

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 07/09/2018 20:12

Deep that's interesting. Why did she decide that she was definitely AGP rather than GD? And was it before or after surgery?

This all keeps bringing us back to the need for psychological assessment! I think everyone needs to be sure and at peace with their motivation before embarking on surgical paths. The people who've made that journey are far more self-aware.
