Previous thread here:

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

It's i-news which I think is the Independent's equivalent of Metro so no not heavy hitting at all. On the other hand they will presumably have someone monitoring the thread so not a bad way to get the message through to them that we are verh angry about all of this and not going to let it slide.

I survived the Warsaw ghetto. Here are the lessons I’d like to pass on

Crikey - I just remembered, we had a monk sheltering from abuse at our London house share in the 90s.

Had he been able to communicate it is possible he might have revealed that he entered the monkhood in primary school. For education, and relieving the burden of his upkeep on his family.

What you describe doesn't tend to happen so much to the children/young adults of parents with adequate resources.

Buddhism, as it is practiced by flawed and not always nice humans, like all other religions, is really long overdue the kind of scrutiny that others have "enjoyed".

I went thinking it was fluffy and lovely. I ran with a very different image.

My experience was that there is very wrong in Nirvana.

It had all the threads of misogyny, abuse, avarice, lust, perversion and other vices running through it. Just like all the other religions. And just like all the others, some people found the structure, ritual, hierarchy and faith comforting and a tool for being a better version of themselves. Whereas others leapt on the tools within the framework that let them bring forth their .... less attractive qualities.

IME women did tend to feature more as the gatekeepers of keeping children safe from the more powerful structures and figures, even if that meant 10 impossible things before breakfast in fairly dire circumstances. Which was no mean feat against a backdrop of a belief that if a child ended up abused, it could be because they were a child abuser in a previous life, and one should not come between a human and their karma, lest they spend even more lives on the human plane, trying to put things right.

Yet, a total lack of questioning from the media...

Even New Media. I would have thought this would be grist for the mill for the likes of Guido. But he has had just two posts by my count. One about Challenor, that was fairly bland. And the one about the newly elected leaders, where he is paid, and she isn't.

theOtherPamAyres · 05/09/2018 10:27

The Guardian editorial on the Green Party - a lesson in how to downplay the investigation by Verita while giving the Green Party a pat on the back for being...er...the Green Party

We know that the editor is very loyal to Lucas and invites her to write self-serving pieces at times of crises, but this vacuous editorial takes the Biscuit.

Yet, a total lack of questioning from the media.

Coventry Observer repeats slurs against WPUK & focuses on Aimee Challenor's feelings.

R0wantrees · 05/09/2018 10:30

WPUK comment:
"Good Morning @ covobservernews We see you have published a scurrilous comment about our group. We have no record of you contacting us for a comment. We have submitted a statement through your contact page. We look forward to seeing the article updated with our comment. Thank you."

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 05/09/2018 10:43

I'm glad WPUK followed up on Coventry observer and BBC. I understand that it's time consuming (and sometimes costly) to pursue all these slurs but they are being propagated so widely.

It's especially disgusting when elected representatives see fit to repeat them and think they can with impunity (the unlovely Gregor Murray of the sparkly wellies was at it earlier).

CesiraAndEnrico · 05/09/2018 10:56

From the linked Guardian piece.

In addition, they must complete as quickly as possible the review begun when it emerged that a former member, David Challenor, was appointed as an election agent by his daughter after being charged with raping a child, and act on any findings to ensure that nothing similar ever happens again.

That's it. The only nod to the major issue within the party right now.

Which is possibly a bit dumb. I would immagine Greens are over represented in the people who respond to the yellow "gives us money" banner. And it is apparent at this point that more than a few are not happy at all about how AC got as far as "rising star". Even less happy about the negative impact the glittery one has had on their party.

And pissed off with how some (including one of the new leaders ?) have appeared to be trying to whitewash their association with The Starburst Family via mass deletions. While their former, and most successful by a long way, leader ,is now T*rfblocked.

So they might be more inclined to snap the purse shut next time the Gusrdian has its hand out. Cos their perspectives are just not being reported on in one of their preferred newspapers.

Personally I think it is a good thing to have a wide range of traditional media. So while I rarely read it anymore (my dentist says I have to cut back on the teeth grinding, and she is EXPENSIVE) , I won't cheer the Guardian digging it's own grave. I'd much rather it pulled itself together and got back on track.

R0wantrees · 05/09/2018 11:17

Coventry Observer have removed the reference to WPUK but retained AC's quote so the implication remains.

arranfan · 05/09/2018 11:28

Men with power to indulge every sexual fantasy going without accountability.

For me, high profile social media is the added frisson here. Yes, they could always indulge in everything and only their coterie knew about it tho' maybe others heard rumours.

This? This is an extension of Saville doing it all in plain sight and still nobody acted on the evidence of their eyes.

There's an aspect of social control that emphasises the power it confers on people when they can get their subordinates to repeat lies and actually say them.

We're being asked to see abuse in plain sight but to say that it isn't. Even the Grande Grope at the funeral is an instance of this. This is how emboldened they are. Grope a woman at an international event and she is the one called out for it.

They are enjoying their ability to do this in plain sight and have everyone else victim blame.

haXXor · 05/09/2018 12:56

Batteriesallgone I was joining dots from publicly-available information. Frequently, the dots are in the details and so we need the details.

This is a thread about a little girl being abused and the fallout from that, it's all going to be unpleasant reading.

CesiraAndEnrico · 05/09/2018 15:26

The two mentioned, am I missing a detail ? Because I can't work out if they sat on the info, or passed it up.

I'll read it again more carefully, but does it actually say what they did with the info ? Another than not run dad's name through the membership database, but just assume he wasn't a member cos Aimee didn't say he was.

CesiraAndEnrico · 05/09/2018 15:37

Ok He gave instructions to the press office, but aside from that... I can't see how they went about kicking the info further up, or getting advice with how they should proceed.

With the Green's initisl denial of knowledge, it does rather look like these two didn't exactly go out of their way to keep the party, or various department store within in, fully informed.

arranfan · 05/09/2018 15:43

It looks like they did nothing with the information. And failed to notice that 'Baloo Challenor' subsequently turned up wrt the Autumn 2017 conference.

Blog post by Phipps. Comments are squabbles about internal organisation issues, I presume?

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 05/09/2018 15:47

Yes, Cesira it does seem like some spectacular buck passing is going on.

Matt and Clare apparently, informed the press team that if they were approached by a journalist to come back to this Matt Hawkins (Green Party External Coordinations Coordinator - what a title!). But that's hardly taking action! Neither of them thought to check DC and AC failed to mention it (also presumably failed to check if it was a good idea to use him as agent). They also, apparently never clocked him in his various roles or saw his name next to Aimee's.

Matt "told" it to 3 other people. In what context (drunk at party? Unsubstantiated gossip? or as formal process?) and of what seniority they were we don't know.

Matt still seems firmly in Aimee's corner. Can't help feeling they all thought that if they kept it very quiet it would go away.

RedToothBrush · 05/09/2018 15:51

Exhibit A
Then-Green Party External Coordinations Coordinator Matt Hawkins and then-party Chair Clare Phipps were told by former Equalities Spokesperson Aimee Challenor in November 2016 that her father – a Green activist – had been charged with sexual offences.

SEXUAL OFFENCES REPORTED TO PHIPPS THE PERSON WHO PUT OUT THE WOMAN'S PARTY STATEMENT

Exhibit B
The messages from Aimee Challenor did not state that her father was active in the party. Speaking to Left Foot Forward, Matt Hawkins says he did not know David Challenor was a member.

DIDN'T CHECK WHY AIMEE WAS APPARENTLY REPORTING INCIDENT AND DIDN'T THINK TO CHECK ON WHETHER THAT MIGHT HAVE IMPLICATIONS COS SAFEGUARDING ISN'T ON THEIR RADAR

Exhibit C
Both Hawkins and Phipps – who are in a relationship – say the party’s press team were informed when Mr Challenor was charged, but no action was taken.

TOO BUSY SHAGGING EACH OTHER TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN IGNORE THE ISSUE AND HOPE NO JOURNALISTS CHECKED UP ON IT

Exhibit D
“As External Communications Coordinator in November 2016 Aimee approached me and told me that her father was under investigation by the police.

“At the time she was not informed of the exact details of the offences, only that they were sexual in nature. I informed the press team that should they be contacted by a journalist regarding proceedings against a family member of one of our spokespeople they should come to me for more information.

So we have progressed from:
Aimee Challenor, by their own admission, in yesterday's BBC interview knew the charges against David Challenor were "serious" but they didn't know the details however they thought it was ok to still appoint them as election agent because they didn't realise that they involved children.

We are NOW at:
Aimee Challenor, knew that the "serious offences" were SEXUAL in nature when they appointed David as election agent. But this is Ok because they didn't know the offences were against children and Aimee has no responsibility for their own actions at all cos Aimee had informed the party.

Reflect on that.

Its ok for an election agent to be charged with sexual offences according to the Green Party - and candidates do not have a responsibility to consider whether this is morally right and in line with the principles and values of the party.

We are left with these THREE senior Green Party Members now saying loud and clear that women are not important to the party and serious sexual offences against women are not a fucking big deal and it never crossed our minds once that other people would think it was a big deal. Leave our Aimee alone, cos trans people are the most vulnerable in the world, but we are happy to shit all over women.

Remember Clare Phipps is currently has a senior role IN THE GREENS WOMEN PARTY.
Remember Aimee Challenor has been campaigning for the removal of protections for WOMEN.
Remember that the BBC think its a fringe issue because the Green Party are only a minority party, yet Aimee has been a senior figure OUTSIDE the Green Party under Stonewall on a major issue which will have HUGE safeguarding ramifications for a huge percentage of the country.

Honestly.

They can not open their mouth or make a statement / comment without making this shit worse.

RedToothBrush · 05/09/2018 15:56

We are being asked to believe and support Aimee and the Green Party having this mentally:

Serious sexual offences against children = bad
Serious sexual offences against adults = meh whatever

and to point out this is totally unacceptable - post #metoo - that pointing this out is 'transphobia' and 'scapegoating'.

FUCK OFF TO THE FAR SIDE OF BEYOND.

Red

A - This helps

B - I love you more with each post

C -

Batteriesallgone · 05/09/2018 16:23

Why are so many, many extremely powerful men paedophiles?

Rape is about power, not sex. The more vulnerable the victim, the more power you have. People who seek power seek it everywhere.

Haxxor - Im glad MNHQ deleted your posts. That’s all I have to say about that.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 05/09/2018 16:35

Men with power to indulge every sexual fantasy going without accountability

Abusive men, often in positions of power because they bully their way to the top, know no limits. They get hostile if any are applied to them, particularly societal norms. They are entitled and often devoid of, or seriously lacking in, conscience and empathy. So they think literally that people and places are objects for their use. They just don't care, despite what they might say.

Some have the equivalent of deviant bucket lists where they get increased points the greater the violation - a sort of boys and "toys" pack scenario where their rating in the eyes of their deviant peers is all important. Some just like the arousal and hard-ons and operate covertly as lone wolves. Some like the power and control in whatever context.

Many really are the scum of the earth emperors with no clothes on.
Men who work in DV assert that men abuse women and children for sexual entitlement of one kind or another.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/09/2018 16:55

I do not believe that AC told the truth, or is telling it now. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I don’t believe AC’s weasely statements. Particularly given the posts by TC on social media and the strange siege mentality of the family as a whole. Also the closeness in terms of hobbies.
It just isn’t washing with me that AC didn’t know the nature of the offences.
Also Red’s post above at 15:56:52 This.

CesiraAndEnrico · 05/09/2018 16:58

I do not believe that AC told the truth, or is telling it now

Unfortunately, it looks like Aimee is in good company in her party, with some people who share similar values when it comes to truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
