Previous thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3347925-Green-Party-statement-continuation-thread?pg=40

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

There appears to be another possible child sexual abuse ring in Coventry under investigation so i am guessing the GP is scrambling to interview members to determine how to distance themselves from the crimes committed in their HQ while maintaining their support for members advocating repeal of safeguarding provisions for women and children.

TrumpsToddlerTantrums · 30/08/2018 20:09

Elected politician. Personal Integrity. Pick one.

Yes, I've had a word with myself. I won't let it happen again.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 30/08/2018 20:18

That Caroline Lucia's article is beyond comprehension.

seafret · 30/08/2018 20:19

thebewilderness I have just been doing some digging on that myself.

As with the sunlight thread, we need to dig and make links. I will contact MNers with what i find, but not piecemeal, as things have a terrible habit of disappearing that way.

I don't have the words to describe Lucas right now. Gender was always about biology - but deliberate lies perpetrated to focus attention on women's 'disabilities' and flaws, and obscure women's abilities for the sole benefit of men.

OhHolyJesus · 30/08/2018 20:41

Just catching up...Fuck me! That article. It doesn't matter that Aimee is trans. It matters that she lied, protected and supported her father, potentially facilitated a crime or at best hid it from the organisations she represented, knowing what would happen if (thankfully when) the truth came out. The other victims will appear at some point and frankly we can start the list with the abused animals and go from there...

It matters that as a politician (frankly, at this stage, I think that term can be applied quite loosely attached to her 20 year old bodily form) she should engage with ALL views and support safeguarding for children (at the very least) and not work to silence or block them with TERFBlocker.

I don't give a shit that she's trans, her actions more than speak up for the type of person she is. Had she been simply male or female no way would this be playing out as it is, but waytogo CL, I had high hopes for you. So disappointed.

OhHolyJesus · 30/08/2018 20:43

Also want to say thank god you're all here. Grateful for the info, links and comments that are filling the enormous void created by UK media.

Such a shocking string of events that just gets worse and worse but made better by having your insight and views.

Batteriesallgone · 30/08/2018 22:00

That Caroline Lucas article....

It doesn’t matter that Aimee is trans. It matters that they LIED.

In the future she is apparently looking to, when trans doesn’t matter, in what way would that absolve Aimee Challoner from lying and bringing the party into disrepute?

We would all LOVE IT if you ignored Aimee being trans, Caroline. It is YOU that is being discriminatory. Not us!

BitOfFun · 30/08/2018 22:02

If all you can see here is identity, not behaviour who is really prejudiced?

KataraJean · 30/08/2018 22:29

Tanith yes, I noticed that Hmm

Floisme · 30/08/2018 23:01

I’m much more interested in what the Green Party knew than I am in Aimee Challenor. Aimee when all is said and done, is David’s child. The Green Party had no such conflict of interest. If they knew about the charges against David C (and it simply beggars belief that nobody knew) and still continued to use his house and his services then that is massive.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 31/08/2018 00:01

Adam McGregor seems a poor representative of the greens. Hes utterly immature slinging names at normal members of the public who hold valid concerns. Instead he should be holding mature discussions and exploring ideas/options. His response to worried members of the public is defensive and accusationary.

TwistedStitch · 31/08/2018 00:06

Rachel Collinson is another senior Green defending AC to the hilt. Why? What power does an unintelligent, inarticulate not very pleasant individual have over the higher ups in this party?

TwistedStitch · 31/08/2018 00:09

In fact why are senior Green spokespeople commenting one way or another on what exactly was known when there is supposed to be an independent inquiry to ascertain all the facts? I've been disgusted (but not shocked) by some of the awful misogyny and defence of AC coming from green activists in the last few days, but the senior members? A member of the house of lords calling people trolls? What a total embarrassment they are.

Zeugma · 31/08/2018 00:15

Something that I've kept asking myself, with increasing disbelief, over and over again during the last few days, is: and these people are our politicians now?

Seriously. This is the best we can do? Looking back over the whole history of politics, some people are still calling AC a 'rising star'?

We're doomed if this is true.

ArcheryAnnie · 31/08/2018 00:31

So Caroline Lucas believes, like Aimee does, that Aimee's feelings are what matter here. Where is the victim (the actual victim, not Aimee) in all of this?

Also this:

There have been bomb threats and bots systematically blocking women on social media to try to silence those who are asking whether trans rights put women’s rights at risk.

GUESS WHO FUCKING BUILT ONE OF THE BLOCKBOTS YOU ARE CURRENTLY HAND-WRINGING ABOUT, CAROLINE?

theOtherPamAyres · 31/08/2018 01:01

Caroline Lucas has a habit of announcing things in the Guardian - and setting the tone and direction of a debate. Or, in this case, an Enquiry.

For instance, before the General Election, she used the Guardian to reach out to party leaders interested in forming an Anti-Tory "Progressive Alliance" (ie withdrawing in seats to allow the nearest rival to beat the Conservatives). In a party that prides itself on saying that only members make policy, this was the first that members knew about it. Although it was really an attempt to hang onto her seat, she saddled the Greens with a disastrous strategy that doomed them to lose vote share.

And now she has done it again. There is a clear signal to cover backsides, deflect blame and steer the Enquiry in a specific direction.

She is also aware that Labour have Brighton Pavilion in their sights as a target seat and will throw resources to campaign against the Greens there.

I'd certatinly hold my nose and campaign for the least worse Labour option.

That can't be real?!

LadybirdsAreBirds · 31/08/2018 05:12

I have said this on another thread. It does matter that AC is "trans". (BTW AC has not got a GRC), because what is protecting AC from disaprpobation is the fact that AC is trans. What is protecting AC is Caroline Lucas' mis-placed pity and a network of allies who have inveigled themselves into organisations who should be looking out for women and children. So it's central that AC is 'trans'. Just not in the way CL thinks.

thecatfromjapan · 31/08/2018 06:38

'So Caroline Lucas believes, like Aimee does, that Aimee's feelings are what matter here. Where is the victim (the actual victim, not Aimee) in all of this?'

I don't quite agree with this. I think CL is seemingly defending AC but - in actual fact - throwing AC in front of the Green Party as both a scapegoat and a smokescreen. It's beyond cynical. It's (continuing to) use a 20 year old Trans young adult for the GP.

I totally agree with TheOrherPamAyrez

*Was anyone in the Green Party informed by the police when the Coventry HQ became a crime scene?

*Who (if anyone) suggested DC change his name when continuing to attend and participate in GP events post-charge and post-Coventry Pride's own safeguarding steps?

Destinysdaughter · 31/08/2018 07:37

BitOfFun no, it’s a parody! Grin
