Linda Bellos prosecuted in private by trans activist **Thread title edited at OP's request**

It's a private prosecution by an activist who wasn't at the talk but watched it online. CPS declined to take the complaint further but this individual decided to take out a private action.

Yes we shouldn't have to defend ourselves from these ridiculous charges...there's enough else to do. Having said that I am happy to contribute to a legal fund for Linda and Posie plus any other women who get sucked in . It's all wasting our precious time. Keep fighting the madness , sisters,

DH has been researching and can not see anyway this could lead to a prosecution. Judging by previous case law (and in particular the Pastor McConnel case which seems the most relevant and which resulted in a not guilty verdict).
On a side note-had a look at the twitter feed of the prosecuting barrister Shock how unprofessional?? That's exactly why myself and DH stay away from social media with our 'professional faces'.

The retweet from someone who had tweeted ' X and Y prosecuted for transphobic something or other'

  1. No mention in the tweet that it is a private prosecution being brought forward by an individual.
  2. Comments on the original tweet in the vein of 'well, we have to say innocent until proven guilty but..."
  3. The 'idiot in a hurry test' could easily see the words 'found guilty of' substituted for 'prosecuted'

Not a good look for a barrister.

The same chambers (no5Chambers) holds the following two people:

  • S Chelvan (leading Chris Snell) is the barrister who is bringing the case against Linda Bellos and Venice Allan.
  • Andrew Wallace, the barrister who prosecuted David Challenor.

GK hires S Chelvan

Anyways, Chris Snell, who seems to have been engaged by S Chelvan, is part of this outfit.

Who look anything but cheap.

So two barristers involved for Giuliana, it seems. Question is - who is picking up the tab for that? Not Giuliana.

I'd feel happier if Linda and Venice also had a couple of barristers. Happy to pitch in for that.
