It's a private prosecution by an activist who wasn't at the talk but watched it online. CPS declined to take the complaint further but this individual decided to take out a private action.

The problem with a private prosecution is that even if you’re found innocent you’re still hugely out of pocket because of paying for your defence. While the person bringing the private prosecution is often able to recover their costs from central funds.

SPOFS: Linda Bellos and Jeremy Corbyn go back a long way - both have a very long history of activism in left-wing politics,.

I’ve had a crush on Linda B for years - in hindsight, probably because she is an example of kick ass woman-ness that sits outside of what-men-want.

I also think this is only being done precisely because Linda has spoken about her ill health around the time of the police interview.

Popchyk Great idea on the GC legal fund. Young women have been sacked from jobs for just asking for a debate on social media. There's an app produced by a notorious activist that holds 50,000+ names of women he's never engaged with and I wonder what other data this site holds on these women and, whether it complies with GDPR.
