Unfortunately James Kirkup has said he's away so won't be on Twitter for the next 11 days. Such a shame as he's done such great work on these issues!

What date was DC sentenced? The earliest report I can find is 22nd, last Wednesday. But apparently there was an injunction which was appealed against, and mention of five days until it was lifted.

The reason I’m asking is that both the GP and Aimee knew by the date of sentence what the full details of his crimes were, and should have anticipated the negative response. But the GP’s statement was released yesterday and Aimee’s statement today. Surely they both had time to put together better statements than the ones they issued?

Amalfimamma · 26/08/2018 20:37

thebewilderness

Sentencing was on the 20th. Last monday

What I find disgusting is the online presence and arrogance of Aimee u til Thursday when they were asked to comment.

Macareaux · 26/08/2018 20:38

It will still be going in 11 days, Destiny.

Caroline Lucas used to be one of my heroes. No more. Shameful.

CesiraAndEnrico · 26/08/2018 20:40

Isn't there usually a gap between a guilty verdict and sentencing ?

Amalfimamma · 26/08/2018 20:41

CesiraAndEnrico I can't find the verdict date online. Need to do it from. Pc tomorrow.

CesiraAndEnrico · 26/08/2018 20:45

What is the usual gap ? A few days or a few weeks ?

Charliethefeminist · 26/08/2018 20:46

Salvage the policies associated with AC and DC by naming any attempt to link the two as 'transphobic'

Your whole post is brilliant but this bit stands out - yes absolutely

JoanSummers · 26/08/2018 20:52

Aimee is also a spokesperson for Stonewall. Wonder if they plan on making a statement..

CesiraAndEnrico · 26/08/2018 20:59

The thing I Am finding MOST frustrating is that there is CLEARLY a story here about An I dividual's trans identity and a difficult psychological background. It is unsayable at present. Talk about it and I will be labelled a TERF and the thread will be deleted. The censorship is already in place.

Yup. deletes rest of reply out of necessity

NynaeveSedai · 26/08/2018 21:05

The gap between conviction and sentencing can be weeks. I can't believe I didn't remember that. He would have been convicted possibly weeks ago! With Aimee merrily tweeting away until the story broke.

How is the Green Party not hauling Aimee over the coals for this shit?

CesiraAndEnrico · 26/08/2018 21:05

Aimee is also a spokesperson for Stonewall. Wonder if they plan on making a statement.

Oh to be a fly on the wall in that room.

I think the biggest barrier to the (rightly spotted) foundation laying of the road to redemption by Aimee ...will be the TRA machine.

I think they've had a bellyful of high profile spokespeople creating shit storm after shit storm in the last few weeks. Not to mention the ones that are rumbling away like M. Etna before it has a big burp.

They may fancy a change of style. Or at least resist wheeling out yesterday's models, cos they just don't trust them not to fuck it all up again. By saying too much when they really should shut up. And then falling silent when pertinent info would be a real help in getting ahead of a Massive Impending Problem.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/08/2018 21:05

A spokesperson for Stonewall ? Can anyone have this position then? Because a twenty year old, with a very disturbing background, a history of disrupted schooling, a diagnosis of ODD, no obvious qualifications for the post , somehow doesn’t seem the most obvious choice.....until you throw in the sinister terfblocker...

CesiraAndEnrico · 26/08/2018 21:10

The gap between conviction and sentencing can be weeks

Given the length of the sentence, the two sentences being consecutive and the advice about when DC could be considered for parole... does that suggest the judge was ready to go half an hour after the verdict, or something on the longer end of things ?

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 26/08/2018 21:10

Terfblocker is gone

It hadn't earlier, and I pointed out the greens hadn't distanced themselves from this as yet. Good to see they finally have.

chocladoodle · 26/08/2018 21:10

The trial started on the 6/8/18 and closed on 21/8/18

jgrobinson · 26/08/2018 21:12

If David was convicted on the 20th, then Aimee on the same day tweeted at the Chief Constable of West Midlands Police, demanding he prosecute transphobic hate crime (stickers?) more vigorously.

kooshbin · 26/08/2018 21:15

From my limited knowledge, sentencing usually happens on the day the verdict is delivered, or the next day. Delays of longer than that usually only occur if the judge requires psychiatric reports or similar.

The jury was out for more than one working day so, as the sentencing was on Monday (thanks Amalfimamma), the verdict was either late on the Friday or on resumption Monday morning.

It will be interesting to see if the judge’s sentencing remarks get published.

chocladoodle · 26/08/2018 21:17

The case started on 9/12/2016

There were two Pre Trial Reviews on 9/10/17 & 12/2/18

The trial began on 6/8/18

The Defendant gave evidence on 13/8/18

There were 5 other defence witnesses who gave evidence on 15/8/18

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/08/2018 21:18

Re: court dates, I found info on the law pages website (thelawpages.com) For some reason when I copied and pasted the link it reverted back to the initial search bit but all I did was type in ‘Chanellor’ in the defendant name box and selected Warwick crown court from the drop down list.

I’m afraid I’m not up on law terminology so I can’t say what exactly it all meant although it looks like the final hearing was on the 21st August.

CesiraAndEnrico · 26/08/2018 21:18

Ermmm... do my eyes deceive me or is that not the same force stamped on this mug shot. Which was taken when ?

Green Party statement
kooshbin · 26/08/2018 21:18

jgrobinson - wow! That is either arrogance or deep denial on Aimee’s part.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/08/2018 21:20

Sorry cross posted!

Can only assume Aimee thought it would go unnoticed due to ?injunctions/ reporting restrictions and that Aimee could just carry on as normal
