Only in June. In June. FFS. The Guardian must have known.

Amalfimamma · 26/08/2018 19:02

Why is Aimee using the USA spelling?

Aimee self id's as American probably

Destinysdaughter · 26/08/2018 19:12

This former parliamentary election candidate has just released an article about this

Aimee's statement is written to evoke sympathy for Aimee. How is the fact hat their mother is disabled relevant here? It isn't. Aimee is just trying to score easy empathy points

I thought exactly the same. It’s quite clear he will not be looking at his own dreadful behaviour in this

pachyderm · 26/08/2018 19:17

Another observation. The Greens I know are preoccupied with environmental issues; sustainable development, renewable energy, carbon taxes, promotion of cycling, climate change and the like. Literally all I have ever seen AC bang on about is trans issues, AC's brave and stunning journey, and attacking and silencing women who protested the proposed erosion of safeguarding for women and girls. WTF has any of that got to do with the point of the Green Party?

I suspect the Challenors targeted the Greens because they are a small party, perhaps easier to infiltrate and more likely to be blinded by wokeness. Can't imagine any of them sitting around talking about wind turbines Hmm

Sarahconnor1 · 26/08/2018 19:18

How is the fact that their mother is disabled relevant here

It's not, but what is is that the mother gave evidence in David's defence at trial explaining the items in the attack.

The mother also stood for election for the GP with DC as the proposer.

placemats · 26/08/2018 19:19

Why are posters misgendering? Is it deliberate to get the thread down?

This is a fantastic thread with a rich mine of excellent and considered posts on this horrific case.

Datun · 26/08/2018 19:24

I did not know about the full details of the crimes my father has been found guilty of until very recently.

Slimey.

SunsetBeetch · 26/08/2018 19:26

Terfblocker is gone.

I did not know about the full details of the crimes my father has been found guilty of until very recently. It is also very difficult to believe that a parent can be guilty of such abhorrent acts.

On reflection, I can understand that it was unacceptable for me to appoint my dad as my election agent when he had been arrested. I can now understand the potential risks of that decision.

The offences committed by my father took place in the attic of our family home. I did not go into the attic during my adult life - it was considered ‘dad’s space’. That didn’t seem unusual for me at the time.

IMO: AC has just admitted that they knew something, but didn't want to believe it. AC knew of DC's arrest but did not seem to give a shit about safeguarding. AC is a spokesperson for the Greens - which means a key person in the party KNEW about something, but did nothing? Did everyone chose to sweep it under the carpet? This needs a full and thorough investigation with actual sanctions for anyone who may have covered this up.

Why the fuck is AC even mentioning the attic? And hypothetically, would it not ring some alarm bells if hypothetically you knew your father brought a 10 year old girl to the attic?

If AC had wanted to keep it classy, the whole thing would have been about the victim - not reams of text about AC / how bad AC is feeling / don't believe the "transphobes" / etc, with a token couple of throwaway points about "survivors...."

Shall we remind ourselves of how DC called the 10-year old victim a fantasist?

This statement REEKS.

Moanella · 26/08/2018 19:27

Misgendering? I'd say people are correct sexing.

CAAKE · 26/08/2018 19:28

True. The Greens are a very soft target.

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 26/08/2018 19:28

Place, that ("I am incredibly sad and angry that my own very personal decision to transition is being linked to my father’s behavior") looks very much to me like "but we'd ask you to be extra careful when discussing family members or attempting to piece together any information that might identify the victim" - making a random bad-sounding claim that makes posters look bad...

Maybe Michael wrote Aimee's statement? Wink

I haven't seen any misgendering though? There are a few "he's" but they all seem (from a quick skim) to be referring to DC?

Charliethefeminist · 26/08/2018 19:29

I hope people have screenshot of terf blocker lists and details.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2018 19:31

Janice Turner is making some pretty strong statements on Twitter about this:

Green Party statement
OrchidInTheSun · 26/08/2018 19:33

There was a statement I read somewhere saying why Aimee chose the Greens. It was basically 'I decided it would be good to go into politics so I read all the different manifestos and decided I liked the Greens best'. IME, this is not how young people get involved in politics.

thebewilderness · 26/08/2018 19:33

...I did not go into the attic during my adult life...

Holy shit!

Destinysdaughter

Thank you for article. It's shocking that the Challenor family were supported within the Green Party rather than Olivia.

placemats · 26/08/2018 19:35

I was on the blocker, despite having no twitter.

I posted a couple of things on Facebook.

I have to say, since the terfblocker I've had to ring 101 regarding fraudulent use of my home address, which has been acknowledged as a crime.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2018 19:37

Challenor became involved in politics towards the end of the 2010-2015 coalition government. “That threw out the Conservatives and the Lib Dems for me because of tuition fees, austerity and a lack of action on climate change. I looked at other manifestos and the Greens’ stood out. I agreed with all of it.” The party was also “miles ahead of the competition” on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues at the time, she says

The attic statement is extremely troubling.

The whole statement from Aimee is extremely troubling. Why did Aimee post that statement?

Mamaryllis · 26/08/2018 19:38

I bloody love Janice Turner. I hope she makes bloody great waves and forces people to notice.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 26/08/2018 19:41

Thebewilderness

Attics, especially accessible ones, are, in my experience, almost impossible to keep children out of. They are Aladdin's caves. Unless, of course, you know that you live with Bluebeard (because even his wife peeked).

thebewilderness · 26/08/2018 19:44

The significance of the attic statement is of course that AC was 17 or 16 when DC was arrested. Not an adult.
A great deal of effort seems to be being made by politicians, advocates, and media, to discourage any other victims from coming forward.
