When you see threads plopped into FWR, especially the curious repeat of well worn subjects, I recommend you check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads being referenced on twitter with screen shots & flagging in either MNHQ or outlets to try & get articles commissioned.

OP posts:

Eat them before Monday. They won't count. Simples!

Dottierichardson · 03/08/2018 00:14

Scoffed the Jaffa Cakes now regretting it!

Ereshkigal · 03/08/2018 00:19

Good plan!

Dottierichardson · 03/08/2018 18:14

Oops wrong thread.

Sarahconnor1 · 04/08/2018 08:47

Bump for the weekend. I might get myself some lemon doughnuts

sociopathsunited · 04/08/2018 10:55

Bump. I might bake some cock rock cakes

sociopathsunited · 04/08/2018 10:56

Darn that was meant to be a strike through, not an underline. Poop.

Checked the comment history of a user who had bumped a really old thread - 1 day old.

So yes check out unknown names and their posting history

A wee bump is due. Football

EmpressOfSpartacus · 06/08/2018 07:12

Bump. Let's check posting histories on unfamiliar posters so we know who were talking to.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/08/2018 08:39

While this should be viewed with caution especially on this board, newbies do sometimes innocently bump threads because they don't know it's not the done thing on MN. I think when I first joined many years ago, seeking info on a particular parenting issue, I did a search to see if it had been discussed before and then reanimated the most relevant thread - it seemed like the logical thing to do whereas starting a new one seemed arrogant to me.

sausagebap · 06/08/2018 10:14

Something I would add is posters who claim to work in professions requiring a relatively high degree of literacy who can barely structure a sentence. I don’t mean typical typos or spelling mistakes (I know everyone writes differently online to at work), I mean bordering on incomprehensible ramblings.

heresyandwitchcraft · 06/08/2018 10:15

I, too, have been guilty of this unwritten rule.

Bespin · 06/08/2018 10:23

sausagebap

also worth pointing out the number of people who when asked basic questions about a profession can not answer any of them or do not understand routine processes within them.

sociopathsunited · 06/08/2018 10:34

Sociopath remembers that anyone can say they are anything online. Sociopath knows. Sociopath is currently a cat.

sausagebap · 06/08/2018 10:44

Good point - always good to be aware of people claiming to be something whilst showing no understanding of what that something actually is.

AccioWine · 06/08/2018 15:24

Bump, with the original op included:

frogintheTyne · 06/08/2018 21:01

timely bump

FermatsTheorem · 07/08/2018 07:57

Time for another bump - there's at least one thread near the top of the active threads which comes across to me as "off" and possibly an attempt troll for screen shots.

JuneOsbourne · 07/08/2018 09:17

I'm leaving that one now Fermat. People can't say they weren't warned!

Ekphrasis · 07/08/2018 09:28

Yes I think I need to be more careful. I've just bitten.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 07/08/2018 09:34

I'm doing a lot of checking people's posting history.
