When you see threads plopped into FWR, especially the curious repeat of well worn subjects, I recommend you check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads being referenced on twitter with screen shots & flagging in either MNHQ or outlets to try & get articles commissioned.

arran

Oh i like that!!

I like that a lot!

I do try ignoring and there are some posters on here that i wont speak to, refer to or go on a thread they start. But sometimes i think that they think they have won by the awesomeness of their arguments

Which is why I usually announce im going to bed Grin

Another zombie resurrection. It’s almost like here’s something we need to be distracted from doing this weekend.

Surely not ??Shock

littlbrowndog · 14/10/2018 11:12

Jeez they everywhere this morning
Bit like nits getting busy busy

NotBadConsidering · 14/10/2018 11:26

BUMP again. There is persistent resurrection of zombie threads. MNHQ just bumped a thread from September saying it “wasn’t in the spirit”. No one had posted on it for a month before that!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/10/2018 11:31

Which on was that NotBad?

GulagsMyArse · 14/10/2018 11:34

Bump

NotBadConsidering · 14/10/2018 11:36

It was one about Owl, not the video one. It’s gone. I can only assume someone reported it, MNHQ had a look at it (a month on Hmm) and decided to take it down while they “have a look at it”. It was their post that bumped it.

littlbrowndog · 14/10/2018 11:37

🤦‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/10/2018 11:39

Someone must have reported it? :(

NotBadConsidering · 14/10/2018 11:42

Exactly. Someone must have trawled through and reported it, prompting MNHQ’s post. It wasn’t a “pile on” of course. It was critique of a tweet. In the public domain. Not sure why anyone would have an interest in reporting it...

littlbrowndog · 14/10/2018 11:49

Another one is started lols
Ffs now it’s like impetigo

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/10/2018 12:11

I'm almost expecting some sort of cyber attack before Friday to be honest.

arranfan · 14/10/2018 16:56

Grief - it's like we've gone through a temporal distortion. I keep seeing threads I recognise but know I didn't see before I went out but they now have hundreds of responses.

Then I realise they're from 2016 or so - it's almost as if somebody trying to disorient posters. Or report them and then be crushed to learn that there is no retrospective application of the guidelines to ban people for sentiments that were permissible then.

It's the last few days before the consultation. WTGLWGH and remember that it's all a game of pigeon chess.

Debating a zealot is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are at chess the pigeon is just going to mess on the board and strut around like it won.

arranfan · 14/10/2018 18:12

I salute those of you with the polite tenacity to continue engaging with posters who have no intention of changing their minds and have stated that. I'm not sure that I understand anyone's endgame but my comprehension is not necessary. :)

pombear · 14/10/2018 19:24

(Sits on hands whilst the poster in focus ramps up the ante)

Whilst I respect those with the patience to engage, and it may still be good for lurkers to see the aggression and lack of logical argument from this individual, I fear this is going to result in some inadvertent screen-shottable moments that can get taken out of context, as people get fed up.

In other news, I'm still perplexed that they seem to have the requisite number of strikes to be removed, but still they're here?!

arranfan · 14/10/2018 19:28

To me, it's vandalism and makes it more likely that people will abandon the thread than look at it. But, that's my impression and I'm not a lurker. And we all have different boundaries for what constitutes vandalism.

For the 2nd, yes - screen-shots through frustration are the endgame and what came before will never be seen, nor the timescale over which it played out, nor the temperate rebuttals.

FloralBunting · 14/10/2018 19:50

I'm astonished that MN are letting it stand as is and not dealing with the poster whose goadiness is off the charts. Time was you'd get a ban for less on AIBU.

arranfan · 14/10/2018 19:56

I may be wrong but doesn't MN only intervene after reports and I doubt anyone reports most of this. I may be wrong.

pombear · 14/10/2018 20:01

arran you know, I think you're right there. We all just watch it (someone obviously reported some stuff earlier, hence the deletions) and put our head in our hands, or decide to address it on the thread.

Classic behaviour in that many people here don't wield a 'banhammer' 'how dare you' approach, but try to engage, discuss etc.

Which is one reason why this forum is so amazing, but also means that it's vulnerable to this sort of behaviour.

Though I still can't understand the maths that = three strikes and you're on a ban, but not for all.

Though I think the mods right now have an unenviable job, and I've thanked them often for the fact that we're still able to have this type of conversation right now.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/10/2018 21:09

Please report. MNHQ don't know about them if we don't.

doublethink · 14/10/2018 21:25

Thanks for the reminder.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/10/2018 09:58

So why haven't the posters been banned like Posie and Bewilderness and many other regulars when they have had many posts removed?

And are they the same person?

arranfan · 15/10/2018 10:12

There's report by a poster who remarks that 2 of the community disruptors were the same person (makes sense).

None of us reported them or too few of us did - so the fact the person was multiple and a PBP flew under the radar. We can't troll hunt as it's against TG but MNHQ can't act if we don't report.

That said, others say that they did report for goodness and were told that apart from some removed posts, there were no problems.

It's all very complex...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/10/2018 10:18

But I'm sure they had more than three posts removed?

I also guessed they were the same person.
