When you see threads plopped into FWR, especially the curious repeat of well worn subjects, I recommend you check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads being referenced on twitter with screen shots & flagging in either MNHQ or outlets to try & get articles commissioned.

OP posts:

Please note that GC Twitter has been warning about a particular account (the likely PBP who was on MN on a different thread, behaved very oddly and promptly disappeared). I don't know if it's all a rumour, but please be VERY CAREFUL. Whatever you do, DON'T click on any links from untrusted sources.

arranfan · 04/10/2018 22:22

:) I've just been reading through some books on cyber-security and one ludicrously unhelpful chapter summary contained this gem:

Don't click on any suspicious links (all links are suspicious).

Don't click open any suspicious attachments (all attachments are suspicious).

However, I do know what you mean.

heresyandwitchcraft · 04/10/2018 22:46
Smile I still remember people saying you cannot trust anything or anyone on the Internet. It's hard to strike a balance between open-mindedly checking out primary sources, and being completely paranoid because there are some very scary characters out there...
ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2018 22:58

Don't tell me we're going to find R0wan's a mole...nah. Not all links are suspicious.

FloralBunting · 04/10/2018 23:03

Here's some suspicious links....

heresyandwitchcraft · 04/10/2018 23:17

Grin Agree completely about R0wan. What a legend. I do not know how she has all of this information and slots in the perfect references every time.

LOL at that picture!

Ereshkigal · 04/10/2018 23:18

Lolling at that advice Grin

pombear · 04/10/2018 23:49

FFS. Wanted to pop into the pub, but didn't feel it was right to do so with this. So coming over here instead, hope that's OK as it's sort of a PSA, but I feel like I need a shower.

Just did some research into a current poster on a thread (as I always want to understand the varied voices here, particularly when they've got a different POV- I'm always up for understanding others' perspective).

Disturbing is an understatement. I know this. Many of us know this. But it reminded me of some of the people we're talking to, and their motivations and own personal issues.

I only hope their ex-partner found their way to the relationships board and the transwidows thread for support.

...wearing their fucking nappies if the past week is anything to go by!

Uhuh.

AngryAttackKittens · 05/10/2018 19:14

I wish I could return to the days where I didn't know how many pervs are obsessed with nappies.

terryleather · 05/10/2018 19:19

So do I Angry......give me the relative sanity of boasts about a 15 incher and references to hairy vaginas any day of the week!

arranfan · 06/10/2018 23:29

The more I see posters with little history behind them - the more that 5-10 posts for dubious faith proves the researchers' findings.

Ereshkigal · 07/10/2018 00:07

Always be careful who you give personal information to kids.

theOtherPamAyres · 07/10/2018 00:54

Funny how many of them are going to great trouble. Join in the middle of the week - post, post, post all over the place - and then start talking like Doctor Haddock by the weekend.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2018 00:57

In lighter news, our old fashioned midnight misogynist is back.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2018 01:15

.... and gone. Mildly amusing while it lasted.

this was one of my favoured books to give to small people! Grin

I read this to my kid from early on, like toddler age. Who says children aren‘t open to books that have philosophical depth....?

AngryAttackKittens · 07/10/2018 06:49

The center of batshit gravity seems to have temporarily shifted to the AIBU thread about dolphins being bastards.

Iused2BanOptimist · 07/10/2018 11:49

Thanks for the heads up AAK We all need all the laughs we can get these days. BrewCakeStarGrin

VickyEadie · 07/10/2018 18:07

Threads that go round and round accusing people of stuff.

They are very diversionary - aren't they?

VickyEadie · 07/10/2018 18:11

Germaine Bunbury commented on diversionary tactics by those set on preventing feminists from discussing key issues in her treatise 'Sometimes, you should just let it die and focus on the real issues'.

VickyEadie · 07/10/2018 18:13

Let it go, let it go, you've wasted enough time you know...
