When you see threads plopped into FWR, especially the curious repeat of well worn subjects, I recommend you check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads being referenced on twitter with screen shots & flagging in either MNHQ or outlets to try & get articles commissioned.

OP posts:

I think it's okay to be very apprehensive, questioning, and actually meet some posts negatively. The ones who are genuine usually apologize for any confusion or re-phrase. The ones deliberately derailing double-down, continue to derail, and get overly defensive.
Like my friend on the other thread.
But it's such a catch-22. On one hand you don't want to say you can't answer the questions being "innocently posed," and accused of shying away from debate. On the other, you want to keep on topic and use your time constructively.
So annoying.

The ones deliberately derailing double-down, continue to derail, and get overly defensive.

Or the ones who say "It's not like it's an every day occurrence" in justifying TRA violence.

Bank holiday bump.

Whattabouttery bump.

Ekphrasis · 27/08/2018 08:51

Are these threads increasingly elsewhere on the site? I'm not seeing any in feminism chat but did see one in aibu yesterday.

I see that a thread to compile a list of trans activists is now all over twitter and mumsnet HQ are getting a kicking. Started by a poster with no other posts to their name.

carceralfeminist · 29/08/2018 14:06

50 000 women, members of the public, collected on a list - excellent.
Mumsnet doxxing - stunning.
ManFriday doxxing - brave.
Revealing an anonymous victim of horrific abuse online - stunning and brave.
A thread to discuss political activists who are openly active in pushing for self-ID using information from their public profiles in the wake of the Challenor/Bradley revelations - morally reprehensible.
No more list-making is an excellent principle - TGLWGH.
But the double standards at play here are... staggering.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 29/08/2018 14:11

That little will be a useful resource to the journalists beavering away investigating this

If self-ID is a wonderful idea, shouldn't they be delighted by being conveniently cataloged?Confused surely if you've got a good cause, all publicity is good publicity.

Ekphrasis · 29/08/2018 20:36

Ah spotted one. Sneaky buggers aren't they.

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 09:23

Bump. Special rodent edition.

arranfan · 30/08/2018 09:25

For the sake of us who are starting to wonder if some threads were in their imagination, is it possible to indicate here when a thread has been lost. Obviously not if it's against T&C etc. but I'm starting to find it quite bewildering.

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 09:26

Are you thinking of any in particular?

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 09:28

The original Manchester Pride one calling out the threatening violent rhetoric towards lesbians, but there is a new one now.

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 09:29

Homophobic attack against lesbians at Manchester Pride

heresyandwitchcraft · 30/08/2018 09:29

I try to link to the active threads of the day/ones that catch my interest on the FAQs now. I can start posting updates there, too, if I notice anything gets pulled?

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 09:30

What about contrasts in style between the posts. Don't know if people remember Cod, but there's someone about who posts in a sort of mad way, but isn't actually like that, as every now and then that slips out.

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 09:31

Also, sorry about contributing to the list and thanks for subsequent PSAs on that poster. I think the poster may be the reason it was deleted, not the list, despite what they say.

Just to note, STOP #silencingwomen thread is gone.
