Parents who won't 'affirm' 8 yr old gender change being referred to social services

This is really, really disturbing:
mobile.twitter.com/cwknews/status/1022394312556990465

This isn't sensible NHS doctors who are training or advising professionals to do this, based on firm evidence.

This is adult transactivists such as this transwoman:

mobile.twitter.com/cwknews/status/1022397462114443265

Hasn't Tara Hewitt also been attacking the NHS GIDS clinic currently, for trying to have an evidence-based discussion?

Ack, the wickedness of these people is breath taking. I'm running out of words to adequately express disgust.

YY. I posted a screenshot where Tara and other TRAs complained about the use of ROGD by Tavistock clinicians.

Ereshkigal · 26/07/2018 10:07

That's nice Tara. Perhaps then they'll end up in a children's home like in this article. Clearly in their best interests.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/07/2018 10:11

Tara is not in any way trained or qualified to be overruling the Tavistock.

The result of this will be children not getting the help that they need because parents will be too afraid to take their children to a therapist, which will only leave the child more open to online grooming. When a situation like this is created I find it's useful to as the "who benefits?" question. Who benefits from parents being scared away from accessing help for their children? Who benefits from children being taken away from their parents and put into what we now know to be a very dangerous care system?

See Tara Hewitt's twitter:

from current thread:

I don't know if Tara Hewitt is still employed directly by the NHS or doing consultancy work for them.

She has been in the past: remote.com/tarahewitt

This was what brought me here originally. I was rubbing shoulders with TRAs who were in SW and related fields who were there deliberately to make sure that children who in any way identified with trans anything were referred for treatment and/or parents referred to CP.

Wanderabout · 26/07/2018 10:42

Thanks Rowantrees.

Met up with an old school friend of mine last week.

Their friend had Mermaids come to give a talk at their daughter's school. Following this their daughter decided she was a boy.

The parents had to leave the school because it went down the immediate unquestioning affirmation route with no independent medical advice or input.

They went to another school and their daughter is now happy and has forgotten all about thinking she was a boy.

How are these random adults mostly biologically male having sway over schools and kids education with NO oversight or input from sensible medics or safeguarding professionals.

Feels like the NHS is mentioned a lot by TRAs recently, what with the whole thing about the lesbian protestors at Pride TAKING THE PLACE OF and TRAMPLING ON NHS representatives. I wonder if it’s because the general public image of ‘NHS workers’ is so very different to someone like Tara Hewitt, so it’s easier to bring in sympathy from people who aren’t familiar with all of this

Bowlofbabelfish · 26/07/2018 10:46

That is incredibly disturbing. Obviously you may not be able to say but how did these cases pan out? How could the SW possibly be seen as impartial here?

BertrandRussell · 26/07/2018 10:51

It reminds me a bit of the ritual abuse thing in the 1970s. They establishment was taken over by an orthodoxy that was impossible to resist or even question. Medics and social workers who tried to resist lost their jobs....

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/07/2018 10:53

Sorry - I was (and am) trying to write so obliquely that I confused the issue. These people were activists so doing more in that line. But a couple were heading towards CP fields (studying) and I strongly suspect that if employed there they would have an agenda because they were quite explicit re this being what they wanted.

AvtarRamKaur · 26/07/2018 10:57

BertrandRussell I recently watched a documentary on that topic, linked from a thread here. Probably 4-6 months ago now? Anyway. We (rightly) talk a lot about social contagion with regards to ROGD in teens, but I think we don't talk enough about social contagion amongst adults and in professions. It's real; it's happened before - especially when money is involved.

Wanderabout · 26/07/2018 10:59

If you couple the training of professionals to threaten a social worker if parents will not affirm their child is the opposite sex on the young child's say so with the following, you get a very concerning picture:

  1. Teach very young children in school that if they feel like they are the opposite sex this means they are:
www.gires.org.uk/classroom-lesson-plans/
  1. Entirely unrelated online world that says the same thing and social contagion:
mobile.twitter.com/itsjillgardner/status/1022077824096710656
  1. Extreme pressure on medical professionals to be affirmation only and not explore why a young child may be saying/feeling they are the opposite sex:

mobile.twitter.com/katepsychfem/status/1020957247357227008

Is it any wonder there has been a massive increase in the number of GIDS referrals of young girls in particular?

It really is like the whole ritual abuse myth / scandal of the 80's / 90's isn't it? We have a group of activists / experts who appear to believe, uncritically, in something with cultic fervour. They are making their living by selling their "expertise" to public and private organisations, threatening parents who disagree with their world view with the removal of their children. Angry

R0wantrees · 26/07/2018 11:08

With regards NHS the challenge to Dr Polly Carmichael and the GIDs / Tavistock approach by many prominant TRAs was very visible (Twitter) during the Westminster Social Policy Forum.

This was a very significant event with highly influential speakers.

Datun · 26/07/2018 11:09

They are going to struggle to keep the lid on ROGD. It seems,to me, to be the biggest increasing cohort at the moment.

Criticising the Tavistock looks like an own goal.

People like Polly Carmichael come across as fairly circumspect when talking publicly about transgenderism.

If their work is directly threatened, I imagine that might change.

R0wantrees · 26/07/2018 11:15

Datun yes, that has been my thought too.

The individuals, groups and organisations who have been part of the criticism is significant.

BirthCanal · 26/07/2018 11:15

I wonder what happened in14/15 to cause that pronounced upturn?
