LangCleg · 25/07/2018 11:32

Oh well, mackerel at least splits the room.

Tough crowd, you lot. Tough crowd.

Thegirlinthefireplace · 25/07/2018 13:06

As a vegetarian I guess I have no place on this thread - now that's exclusionary

UpstartCrow · 25/07/2018 13:09

But Birds Eye Potato Waffles are so waffly versatile, surely you can find a way?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 25/07/2018 13:10

Can you not eat the waffles girl ?

I dont eat meat.....but I struggle with fish, so im a guilty pescatarian

Thegirlinthefireplace · 25/07/2018 13:17

I could eat the waffles, baked beans on potato waffles was a table when I was a student. Don't think I've eaten them in 20 odd years thought.

Thegirlinthefireplace · 25/07/2018 13:17

Staple not table

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 25/07/2018 13:22

Ds1 ate a frozen waffle once as he couldn't be bothered to cook it

Just finished his first year at uni...surprised he is still alive

UpstartCrow · 25/07/2018 13:58

Did you just diss frozen potato waffles and suggest they may be stone cold poison? That is not in the spirit of this thread. Boo. Boo.

hipsterfun · 25/07/2018 14:02

It’s fish fingers, chips and peas for lunch in the hipster house today. The only brand disloyalty will be the ketchup. Aye, aye, Captain!

terryleather · 25/07/2018 14:04

I wonder if Birds Eye has seen an increase in sales over the past 24 hours...I don't think I've thought about fish fingers so much in my entire life!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 25/07/2018 14:07

Upstart

hipsterfun · 25/07/2018 14:10

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 25/07/2018 14:11

ITS MY PRECIOUS BABY ANGEL

DO YOU PEOPLE NOT FEEL THAT

Its the chicken nuggets that are his first love, even his boyfriend said the other day 'no idea what restaurant we are going to but it has to do chicken nuggets'

ITS MY PRECIOUS BABY ANGEL

One of mine used to dip carrots in fromage frais. Strawberry flavour.

OctaviaOctober · 25/07/2018 15:16

What are their non-cod fish fingers like? I'm very fussy about fish, I really only like cod, salmon, tuna. Everything else is approached with deep suspicion. Do they still taste like cod? Are they boney?

beenandgoneandbackagain · 25/07/2018 15:34

Frozen waffles? Did they not know that you can cook them in a toaster?

ErrolTheDragon · 25/07/2018 16:03

Birds Eye do lots of veg, plenty for vegetarians. Their peas really are a bit nicer than own-brand. In this weather I quite fancy making some 'instant frozen pea soup' - no cooking as such, either chill or microwave if you want it hot.

Put some frozen peas in a blender, add about a quarter of a veg or chicken stock cube per person, some mint and/or chives, pour on some boiling water, wait a few minutes for the peas to thaw and blend. You can add sour cream or yogurt or whatever if you want.

Nearly as easy, Birds eye own recipe

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 25/07/2018 16:07

been

Yes he does know you can put them in a toaster

Apparently he couldnt wait

UpstartCrow · 25/07/2018 16:08

Rufustheyawningreindeer He ate it while it was still frozen, and you are surprised he is still alive.

Is he also the one that ate a raw chicken nugget?

ErrolTheDragon · 25/07/2018 16:22

The potato in waffles is already cooked, isn't it? So weird but probably not actually dangerous.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 25/07/2018 16:40

My groceries have just arrived.
I have Birdseye chicken nuggets and Birdseye breaded chicken portions. Which to eat for tea tonight?
I also realized I forgot to put fish fingers on my order after all that. Whoops.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 25/07/2018 16:44

I love this thread! Thank you Mumsnet.

And re. buying power. twitter.com/FeministRoar/status/1022076275802947584

12 Terfs are ousted from buying Birdseye products! Wooh!

(3 TRAs refuse to buy Birdseye products).

Birdseye:[ looking at their customer base]. Erm, yep, we'll be off away from those dreadful Terfs (ie many adult human females with kids who eat Birdseye stuff). Quick, marketing department, let's make sure our dippers, waffles and fingers are gender neutral. And avoid that evil Mumsnet site. 'Girl from Mars' and 'Robyn' are our natural customer base - they're the ones who will be purchasing dippers and waffles by the ton, once we ditch those evil mothers.

New Look: hey, come over to our way of thinking. All those Mums will have a 'rude awakening' as Robyn says, as they have little spending power compared to all of us (who on the regular post paypal/buy me a drink/I have no money messages!)
